Looks like these spawned several comedians. Great job Barkey. You supply a ton of info.

Great stuff Barkey! A sketch movie you may want to check out (and my personal favorite of the genre 😉) is Monty Python’s “And Now for Something Completely Different”. Basically a choice selection of sketches originally from the _Flying Circus_ TV series were completely re-shot and strung together into a _very_ loosely-connected film. 😅
Edit: Also, 1968’s “Head” starring The Monkees is a mix of sketches along with a loose narrative, that may just barely qualify as well 😁

I do indeed have a movie for you Barkey National Lampoon's 1982 Movie Madness. With Candy Clark, Robert Culp, Fred Willard, and Robby Benson. This movie is a lot dryer than the one you reviewed, but still very good, you will laugh you will cry you'll kiss two hours goodbye. Loved all the Film in your review.

When you brought up "The Groove Tube" I was thinking of "Shlock". I don't know why other then John Landis directed "Shlock" probably around the same time as "The Groove Tube" and that there is a gorilla on the cover of "The Groove Tube" where a gorillas was the center creature in "Shlock." Although "Shlock" isn't a sketch comedy movie, it does have the same king of humor.

Tunnelvision (1976) also fits this genre. During a congressional hearing in the then future 1985, a days programming of the controversial television network called Tunnelvision. Chevy Chase ahows up for a skit.

Amazon Women on the Moon in particular is an old favourite (I'm especially fond of Arsenio Hall's scene as the "apartment victim"); thanks, as always, Barkey!

My two favorite lines from Amazon Women on the Moon:
Henry Silva asks, "Is this real, or am I doing this for a paycheck?"
Steve Guttenburg tells his date, "I love Meryl Streep." Ladies, if a man tells you this, he's lying or gay.

Great stuff and yes, I miss the Sketch Comedy movies and the Sketch Comedy shows-- you cannot mention SNL because real sketch comedy pokes fun at the Establishment. When you have been on TV since 1975 your ARE the establishment. I saw a graphic the other day of two points of light miles and miles apart and thought I was looking at Astronomy (Sun to Voyager probe?) when I realized I was looking at the distance between SNL and its former relevance. Sigh. You always do it right and your videos are among the best produced on TH-cam. Keep going dude!

@Barkey Reviews Movies Speaking of "The Groove Tube" 1974! Are you at all familiar with a weekly satirical variety TV series which was broadcast on PBS from 1971 to 1972, titled {The Great American Dream Machine}? It was produced by WNET New York and hosted by humorist and commentator "Marshall Efron". Other notable cast members of the show included (Chevy Chase, Albert Brooks, Paul Jacobs, Studs Terkel), and a pre 60 Minutes "Andy Rooney". Some of the skits featured on The Great American Dream Machine were later be revamped for The Groove Tube.

This dog is so much smarter about comedy than most humans. He is right, comedy is supposed to offend.

The movie Pandemonium seems to be a sketch comedy movie in the wrapper of a horror movie.

I think Student Bodies was the superior film.

@@jcarterla That's cool. Pandemonium is one of my favorites from childhood. I even bought the Blu-ray on the day it came out. I'm aware that Pandemonium doesn't have a big fan base. It used to be hard to find.
The humor played well to a 12 year old me.
I think that that horse was the best animatronic horse I have ever seen. Whomever made that horse didn't know how bad a movie he was making it for.

Ken Shapiro was also the dancing man in the NYC segment of Groove Tube.
A lot of people will say Chevy Chase is an ace ole. Shapiro is the only instance I've seen Chase state someone else is one.
That being said, I would have really like to know why Shapiro noped out in the early 80s, dying in New Mexico 30 or so years later. I can't find any interviews with him. I'd like to hear his side, a talented guy who suddenly just quit...albiet his stuff wasn't commercially paying off
I think it was during his appearance on Gilbert's podcast.

In 2013 there was actually a sketch comedy movie called "Movie 43" but it's seriously the worst movie ever made, I only made 10-15 minutes in before tapping out and from reviews I have seen the rest of the movie wasn't any better. I cannot stress this enough, I strongly do NOT recommend it.

I saw a movie called _Tunnelvision_ in a theater in the late 70s I thought was hiliarious. Hadn't become aware of the others you reviewed in this video until years later. Kinda wish you'd included _Tunnelvision._
