I did fix mine without replacing the VCM. I got P200A00 code intake manifold runner performance (Bank1) and Check Engine light. It turns out, what happens is something gets stuck - either the air flaps inside the intake, either the small links from the VCM unit to the intake. This can be fixed without replacing anything IF it's done before it gets too stuck which will cause the VCM plastic gears to get stripped. I did a video on my channel showing how to unstuck the VCM links and/or the air flaps inside the intake without removing the intake. If you find the plastic VCM gears have damage, you can replace them individually - may get gears from a junkyard car. I'd like to thank this channel for the help with information about the plastic gears inside the VCM. Keep in mind, this is a recurring issue, it will keep happening every few years as the unit keeps getting stuck from gunk/dust
Peace be upon you, I am an engineer from Yemen, the same problem happened to me in several cars, American specifications, Korean cars, the holidays with the code is p1326 and p0326 I did not like checking the computer at all, and the solution is the same piece that you replaced. Thank you very much for your creativity in solving the problem without insisting on replacing the pieces. Which the computer requests, thank you Ahmed Taha Al-Yaman
P1326 should actually point to false knock sensor signal. One may want to check in this order: if you've been driving through heavy rain or a car wash, allow the car to dry a few days. The knock sensor is likely NOT faulty (H wants to replace them for no reason) however some cars had a TSB for updated sensor harness. On some engines - especially the 2.0T, the knock sensor may trigger a false limp mode - this is recurring and H does not have a fix. Better carry a scanner and clear the code yourself each time. If all above checks fine, the rod bearings may be damaged, bring the car to Hyundai.
Thank you so much for this video/ would this also have caused a blinking check engine light? My car died/lost power while I was driving it- I couldn’t go over 40 then I just couldn’t go- now it won’t start- I’m hoping this is the issue- I also heard the noise you explained in the other video so I’m really thinking it’s one of the gears from this part
I have seen other videos where some code readers can't get the P200A (Intake Runner) and some can. Then you get these other codes that don't relate to the problem at hand. Maybe Kia and Hyundai have a computer read-out problem?????? The P1326 code (knock sensor - Rod Bearing Clearance) also has a similar performance condition to limit acceleration like code P200A (intake runner) limits acceleration also. I have seen other videos where Techs get a code P1326 (knock sensor) but replace the intake runner motor and it fixes the problem. Why didn't they get a code P200A for the intake runner motor??
That's crazy but i think it have to do with the computer and there company Data base because i use 2 different computer and get 2 different code and if i wasn't updating the main shop computer i wouldn't have found it
No update/reprogramming should be needed. Actually, not even erasing the code. Once the VCM was fixed, the code and check engine went away at the first engine start
2017 kia optima replaced VCM aka Imrc after getting p200a but i get same CEL either solid or flashing and code came back. so now i dont know what do to
I have a 2016 Hyundai Sonata and I’m have the same issue. P1326 and car went into limp mode. Changed knock sensor, new spark plus and new oil change. 700 miles later,P1326 again.
If anyone is still looking for this it's in the VCM service kit. $13 at the dealership. It includes the bar, the clip, the white plastic piece with the nipple that connects to the motor and it's clip
@@DULLAHGOSOHARD I want to open one and look inside, perhaps the plastic gears lack a bit of grease or the teeth just break. Perhaps stuck knuckles also cause too much force on these plastic gears
