I love this right out of the gate! The really cheap airbrush kits are also wildly inconsistent in quality and the way they work. One person will say it works great and then another artist with the exact same airbrush will be scratching their head trying to figure out what they are doing wrong. Great video!

Lisa, glad you highlighted the importance of multi layering. I paint that way with my airbrush. Very, very thin paint, saves clogging the head. Several thin layers produce wondrous results.

I adhere to a very tight and consistent airbrush cleaning regimen. When I’m finished using my airbrush, I kinda flush it with water and set it in its mist-catcher thing. Once it gets completely clogged and unusable, I always completely dissemble, taking hours cleaning and trying to remember how it all goes back together. If you stick to this routine, you can’t go wrong! Except once in a while…for like, a day.

Fabulous idea with the airbrush. Thanks so much. I have only ever messed about with one doing the hombre style cake decorating. Of course something broke in the air gun not long after I bought it. I didn’t replace it. So yes, I agree with you about paying for the quality you get.

dad had about 6 Iwata airbrushes of different ages, great airbrushes, but one of his for some reason just ate needles, they always ended up bent no matter how much we cleaned the airbrush and took it apart, but when it worked it, worked great lol. i just have a cheapy air brush now since i havent painted with one for almost 20 years and need the practice again. will come in handy when i start to paint the big canvas in the hall lol that i've had for years😛

THANK YOU Lisa for that reminder... I just finished a portrait for my niece (her grand daughter), last night.
I was just about to varnish it this morning, and I thought... I should wait a couple of days for it to be completely dry first.

I like airbrushing my colorful clouds in the distance of my sunsets, although I learned to paint and blend them with my brush, I can't tell you enough how easier and faster it is with the airbrush and the effects are much better with it.

Love this! My biggest problem with the airbrush seems to be color changing! You went from color to color *what looks like* very easily!

I just run water through it between colors, it take a minute to switch :D

Very informative! I enjoyed the demo. I saw some prints recently on canvass. Some were like how you are doing the painting edges, I believe called the gallery wrap, others had solid colors, kindof blurred across the edge.

Thank you for your tutorials. Can I make a request? I hope you can do a tutorial also using other medium like gold leaf/powder. ❤

Husband...'I thought you liked cleaning!' ....divorce statement!!🤣
Bought a mid-price airbrush to try out some backgrounds.... but it's taking me a while to get it😭
Watching this I think I need to change my paint/spray tip combinations. TFS Lisa!!

I'll just use pan pastels for blurry background. Can't afford airbrush. I do plan on starting oil paint soon. I did get a cheap set to try (I know there are better brands, but just for trying).

I wanna get an airbrush but my dog lays at my feet in her dog bed. Will it harm her if I use the airbrush with her around. Shes not gonna let me paint without her so thats not an option lol. Im afraid of her breathing in anything from the airbrush. Is it pet friendly? Or am I just outta luck as far as being able to use an airbrush?

Can you use liquid acrylic paint from a glass bottle for airbrushing? Like FW. Tfs

You can thin your regular paints down with water and use that but it's a pain in the butt.

I've had an airbrush for many years, I tried it once and it scared me so much I never used it again. Its very loud and vibrates so much I fear it will walk off the table. There's also the issue of cleaning the darn thing between each colour. Then once finished it has to be taken apart and all the itty bitty stuff cleaned. Waaay to much hassle for me. I have thought about getting those ones for cosmetics/ cake decoration, still undecided, hopefully they are not as aggressive as the one I got.

Sorry fellas, but we need more female artists working with the mighty airbrush! They are so much fun to use, which works in their favor when they inevitably get clogged. Golden High Flow paints are fantastic, no reducing needed. Great video!

But so expensive to get! I would get it if it wasn't that expensive.
