    I think there is definitely a correlation between Furry being seen only as a kink and people having seen being LGBT as a kink. Furry is a very LGBT space, and even today we are seeing furries be used as a code word for trans people in stories like the "litterboxes in schools" thing. Also I think in general a lot the people who used to hate on furries have mellowed out and gotten over cringe culture. Furry hate is still there, but there are now a lot of people that hated furries in the past but no longer do.

      A lot of people who hate furries also end up becoming them. One of my best friends used to hate furries and would constantly talk about how cringe they were. Up until the day he started acting a bit unusual. Then one day he came to school wearing wolf ears, he came up to me and said "Dude. I think I'm a furry" Now, not only is he my best friend, but he's also my husband.

    To be honest theres nothing even wrong with kink side of furries, it’s just weird, but it doesnt hurt anyone, but people like to hate people for doing things they think is weird.

      Niche, sure, but I feel like the weirdos in the community that are obsessed with making everything about sex to a socially innappropriate level tend to be the most vocal, so unless you know a lot of normal furries to balance the experience out it kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth as an outsider.

      @KobeKeats 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@DonkeyDongs9000 It’s not very common for people to make “everything about sex” people will be in areas of the internet for it and complain when they see it. It’s really really rare for sexual furries to just randomly do that. They arent the most vocal. It’s mostly people just hating them for being sexual in general. No matter where they are. They’ll seek it out, find it, and then comment on how weird they are, this is more common than them being openly sexual in random places that arent related. People hate furries for it in general. When it’s really not an issue, being sexual is fine, nsfw content is fine. Huge majority of it is in it’s own cplace, and people just love to hate on it because we’re weird for enjoying it.
      This has always been an issue. I’m sick of people liking nsfw in the furry community being “weirdos” to others

    Furries are not just about NSFW content. Yes, while there are a lot of us who DO partake in such activities. We do not all do that. What we do here in the Fandom allows people to be themselves and not face judgement. Children, seeing our fursuits laugh happily because it makes them smile, because we are being our funny, quirky, fun-loving selves.
    I believe that the goal of the Fandom is to spread love, kindness, and compassion to those who need it. I showed up to my little cousin's 12th birthday party in my fursuit. Yes, some adults had worries. But my cousin was happy. Seeing him smile like that is what gives me purpose as a fursuiter. Knowing that I have the power to make someone's day.
    I get my strength from other people's laughter. I love putting a smile on someone's face. Because I know that sometimes, we all need to smile every now and then. Smiling is a sign of enjoyment, of happiness; and I believe that there is yet not enough smiles in this world. Which is what keeps me going, knowing that I AM making a difference.

      @@Sean-px6qq never base your opinions on something based on surveys, they are very hard to get accurate descriptions of things. There is no survey that every single furry in existence has filled out, depending on what the survey asks, depends on who will be willing to fill it out. Most of the time the results of surveys are tilted bc of that reason. Now with the furries you met, I cannot argue against that, I also have met alot of furries that I cannot stand, but most of those have been online, but there aren’t any furries i’ve met irl that I disliked or thought was depraved or weird most of them seemed normal and extremely caring

      @@Sean-px6qq “please don’t say limited experience you don’t know me” so you have unlimited experiences with furries and have met and seriously got to know and talked to every single furry there is?
      and yes, surveys are inaccurate, especially when it comes to building an opinion on a certain subculture of people. When you base your opinions on a group of people (especially when the only thing in common with each other is liking furry art) it is a very odd and weird way to start saying “oh furries do this” because that would logically mean your talking about every furry. Also, appropriate and inappropriate things are going to be everywhere in every community, it is not just a furry thing.
      but furries are a wide range of people, from people in europe to america, from people believing in far-right ideas such as nazi’s, or they could believe in far left ideas. They could be Christian, they could be atheist, they could be a taoist, or buddhist. They could be male or female, gay or straight, nice or mean, depraved or morally good.
      It is unfair to label furries as a certain way (especially when it’s meant to be derogatory) when furries believe totally different things. Some furries are repulsed by the sexual nature and some enjoy it and seek it, but that doesn’t mean furries as a whole are bad it just means there are a lot of furries out there, and any community with human beings in it, are bound to have good and bad.
      Again, surveys are inaccurate for forming opinions on certain groups because they do not represent all of that group, it is unfair to say “furries are just sexual deviants” when there are alot of furries that are christian, and don’t like, and agree with that type of stuff.
      It’s like saying “all people that are conservatives want to be violent and prevent people from being themselves” whatever that self may be, it’s a wrong idea that is instead of based in reality is based in mainstream ideas and personal experience.
      If you were to base your opinions in surveys and personal experience someone could also view furries as good, caring, and thoughtful people. Just because someone has a good experience with a furry does NOT mean that furries are nice, good, and caring people, as there are many furries that have done truly deplorable and disgusting things. So how could you objectively claim a point that you have concluded through subjective means?
      Imagine someone like ted bundy, most people that knew him and worked with him said he was a normal guy, he seemed to be morally good. But obviously he wasn’t, if someone tried making an objective claim of “this guy is an upstanding, kind, and morally good person” and only based it by personal experience, they would have a very big misunderstanding.
      edit: also, how are you going to say “surveys are litteraly a way meant to not test the whole community” after saying “ignoring the majority of furries” how would you know if that is the majority of furries if there are no surveys that have asked every single furry whether or not they agree or partake in certain activities? if there are no surveys that have tested the entire furry community it is impossible to accurately say “the majority of furries” or the “minority of furries” because the whole of the “majority” or “minority” isn’t fully known

    • @skyksyt
      @skyksyt  13 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      Which it is! People get confused between furries and therians sometimes (which I made a video on). Therians have a theriotype (essentially an alternate identity which they relate to spiritually or in other ways) which they treat as their identity, but most furries have a fursona, which is just the same as any original character people create and is treated as no more than that - which makes involvement in the fandom a hobby, not an identity.
      I'm glad you understand that 😁

    I seem to be the only furry in my area. I have met one other that was a school mascot (retired). I normally only go out about 3-4 times a year to get some laughs. I have shown up in a few businesses which sometimes produced strange looks, but otherwise met with a lot of laughter or at least smiles. The latest was the local Petco which resulted in all the employees gathering around the register and laughing as I entered the store. As furrys show up in more places and generally follow common courtesies, they become more accepted.

I have a dog, a cockapoo named Coco, she's so sweet, playful, always happy and wouldn't hurt a fly... last thing I'd want to do is hurt her, it's actually disturbing few people still think that way about furries, or even see anthro and feral as the same thing....

    for the entire time that I even knew what a furry was
    I had a very neutral opinion as I hadn't seen very many articles talking about it up until I was already a teenager
    most of which came in late 2020 when I started playing vrchat
    although I still didn't know what a furry was at the start I soon found out through my gameplay of vrchat
    and even more so through one friend of mine
    I met him in 2021 in a murder 4 world at the time he actually wasn't a furry after I stopped playing murder and moved on to pool parlour (the community I am still in today) I mostly stopped talking with him he would occasionally join me for a game then dip but we didn't really talk even on discord
    until new years 2021 he invited me to meet his gf who was furry and found out he was one too
    I didn't care about a small detail like that he was a good friend
    and sort of just went "it is what it is"
    after that point I started learning more references as we started talking more through discord and more furry related content was being sent by both of them
    I learned more about them and overall the culture surrounding the fandom and the fictional species especially was really interesting
    to this day I still don't consider myself a furry nor do I plan to
    and am still friends with the guy to this day

      Ah alright that’s fine, at the end of the day everyone is entitled to their own opinion and perceives things differently. I have a small issue with your reply though, the way you phrased the final sentence “all the bad people in it”, sounds like you’re implying that the majority of the fandom is made up of bad actors / people.
      Although I’m pretty certain you didn’t mean that, I just want to say to anybody who might be looking at this comment in the future to always make sure you do your own research. The number of bad actors in the furry fandom is a lot smaller than people tend to realise, and there is a constant push to try to get rid of these people interacting with the community. Of course this isn’t downplaying the severity of their intentions or actions (these bad actors), please ensure that (as with any community) you stay safe and use common sense to avoid certain situations from occurring.

Considering if the anti furry communities investigation branch. They going to report information about the whole repairing thing. Now for me am in the investigation branch to. But the investigation side of the anti furry community are the more chll people instead of just hating like we don’t hate. We just want to know more about the community and stuff. Then report back to more people in the anti furry community to see if we can switch over there opinions on furrys or not idk. But you get what am trying to say here. If this keeps up then high chance the furry and anti furry war will end. But who knows when that will happen but this is just my thoughts on things right now.

    • @skyksyt
      @skyksyt  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I don’t really see any war going on, only some people who aren’t educated on a group, may see a few bad actors or events, generalise a whole group under those events and then spread misinformation based on how they perceive the group (in this case, the furry fandom). I have actually made a video researching the anti-furry community a few months ago if you want to take a look at that and correct any errors I may have made as you are part of that community and may have information that I was unaware of.
      If the anti-furry community has evolved to what you are describing it as with an “investigation branch”, I strongly suggest informing everybody as soon as possible on the true nature of the furry fandom and doing intense research to ensure that your points are backed by as many strong (or undeniable) sources / arguments as you can.
      Of course, don’t only focus on the positives or negatives of the fandom. A neutral argument is always best whenever possible.

    eh kinda right, but my answer wasn't as in depth as the video was. It seems that the reason furries are more accepted is because of the disproving of misinformation about the fandom, and the wider spread reach the fandom has now because of social media.
