what a brilliant adventure - i do hope you are wrapping up warm.
i had heard of ringed necked parakeets about 15 years ago, and learn they were a mainstay of London boroughs - fast forward to around 2015 i saw quite the gang at a bird reserve about five miles away from me, then one day.
Then a couple of years ago, (2021), one day only, i was sitting drinking my tea, and i was like "whats that noise" seems a bit much.
I thought it might be the magpies fighting it was so loud - and a similar sort of noise, i thought at that time, but now i can hear the variation. Out my front door i go, to see a pair of ringed necked parakeets, i was completely shocked and amazed, - mind you i don't suppose 5 miles is too far to fly! They stayed around for the morning, I stayed on my front door watching them and I have never seen them in my road since. but it was just awesome.
If i don't catch you before, have a lovely Christmas, and shall see you in the new year :)

Hi great capture of all the birds. The ring necks are beautiful birds but unfortunately have been taken and set free. At least their varied diet allows them to survive.
We had some in South Africa bought over from Australia (I working in an animal rehab centre)
