They are very cute birds. It's always nice to see them. Great video. Keep it up!
Delightful & hello Cockey 😁👍 enjoyed that Graham. 🙏
@@Compo67 Thanks Steve. He's still around! 🙂
@@NaturallyCuriousUK ☺️ good to know Graham.
OH MY GOD A BRITISH MAN
What a super and informative video. Nice dragonfly I ages. And some great tips and tricks. Another superb video from you. I enjoy how you left the outtake in for us to have a chuckle. Cool flyby of those formation aeroplanes. Sorry it's took me a few days to get round to watching. Have yourself a fantastic week my friend
@@Calvin.The.Unfindable thanks buddy. You too!
I would've been so disappointed if you hadn't managed to get cocky on film! And the planes we so cool!!
@@jess53nz ha ha! Glad you weren't disappointed! 🙂
Great content Graham. Some lovely photos and you managed to do well with the Dragonfly image with what you had to start with lol. Nice tip on how to get the Damselflies near you for photographing, will have to try that. Not sure if those planes were Spitfire's, can't really tell from the silhouettes or the sound.
@@wildlifespotteruk Cheers Jay. I've got my doubts about the plane ID too! 👍🤓👍
Such a beautiful species!
Its a great site, better earlier in the year. Cant help with the fly Id sadly, but the Dragonfly was a Migrant Hawker (male) as you said :)
Thanks Neil! 🙂
Really enjoyed that video Graham.
@@twitcherspictures Thank you! 👍🤓👍
Lovely video mate, I've had a great time this summer photographing the small stuff as well. All the best Steve.
Thanks mate! Best time of year for 'em! 🙂
Nice 1 sir Graham, great shots of the little red eyed damselfly, a species I haven't knowingly seen before.
Cheers Liam. I'd not knowingly encountered them myself before either! 🙂
@@NaturallyCuriousUK We should all head out for a dragonfly walk next summer and I can find you both some good species!
@@ukwildlife Yes definitely up for that 🙂
I'm still giggling at your surprised exclamation as the planes flew over! Lol! A super informative video as always, and what a great tip. I will try and remember to implement that next time I try to photograph dragonflies etc. They do look really lovely on the leaves, and I also thought your RAW file came up really well. Dear little robin, it was nice to see him too.
Thanks 😆 Only a mild expletive luckily, otherwise I'd have had to bleep it out! Glad you enjoyed the rest of the video too. Cocky is still paying us regular visits although we witnessed him emerge speedily from one side of our Weigela bush yesterday afternoon just as a Sparrowhawk was swooping in to the other side! Sparrowhawk emerged a few moments later empty-taloned and flew off onto a neighbouring roof aerial.
@@NaturallyCuriousUK Haha, yes you would! Goodness, I hope Cocky manages to keep safe with there being a sparrowhawk around. Lovely birds, and I know they have to eat too, but I'd rather not witness that, personally - especially as we do tend to get fond of our garden visitors!
lovely buddy x good ol robins x i hope you and yours are happy and well xxx
Thanks JP. Working too hard and fending off grumpy ol' git syndrome on a daily basis. Otherwise well thanks. Love to you and Sammie 👍
@@NaturallyCuriousUK I’ll give you a shout when I’m back buddy x let’s go out for a nature fix x
@@JPLamoureuxsTravels Yep. It's a date! 🙂
Lovely video Graham with good information as usual:-)
A very apt description for your Starling visitors Graham, lol.
Cheers Jay! Yes, I thought so 🙂
ahh yes, i completely agree, a clamour fits well with this boisterous lot. fantastic
@@Calvin.The.Unfindable Cheers buddy! 👍
I see what you mean Graham 😁👍 Good there is someone checking Liams work!🤣 joking of course! Reminds me of a time when a clattering of Jackdaws raided our bird feeders. They were quite big birds to be raiding the bird feeders and fat balls. Quite a bombastic raid it was 😅
@@Compo67 Crikey! I can imagine what a sight that was! Noisy too I would imagine! Don't worry Steve, I keep a watchful eye on my mate Liam's videos 👍🤓👍
@@NaturallyCuriousUK 🤣😅🤣👍
Nice informative video on the differences between the various darters and damselflies. Love the photo too, the wings remind me of the frosted glass you get on some bathroom windows, lol. Nice video all round Graham.
Cheers Jay. Yes I see what you mean about their wings! 🙂
Very interesting and informative video. Thanks Graham.
Thanks Bernie. A good time of the year for dragonflies still. 😀
what a fantastic photograph. can't believe its been a year - i remember that video... mind you where has this year gone! can't believe we're in September already. i do enjoy finding Dragonflies, then going home and reading as much as my little brain will hold!
Thanks Calvin. Yes, the months fair zip by don't they? I do rather like Autumn though. Quite possibly my favourite season. 🙂
@@NaturallyCuriousUK i do like the colours of autumn, and the fact we can generally see more wildlife, because the leaves fall, but i don't like the bareness of that, round here its too much exposed! sometimes in the UK i feel from my observations over the years; we get 10 months of Winter, a month of autumn 2 weeks of Spring, if it can be bothered to turn up at all!! And a Summer that's barely any blue skies, and 3 minutes of sunshine! i like Spring, the whole renewal thing and animals are starting to and coming out of the darkness of winter.
Very enjoyable little video and yes I remember that one with Greg, Liam and JP. Amazing creatures those dragon flies and Damsels. Prehistoric ! The light a low summers evening I find is the most spectacular, really like that. Liam’s head is most perfect landing strip for a dragon fly, no foliage to snag those wings!🤣 Thanks for this lovely video Graham 🙏
😆😆😆 Thanks Steve. If @AShotOfWildlife sees your comment he might have to come and find you!!! 🤣 My own foliage is getting less by the day too! 😁
@@NaturallyCuriousUK 🤣👍 I haven’t got much foliage on top either! Your amongst friends in that regard!
@@Compo67 🍻🙂
Gosh, the year is racing by, isn't it? September already. A beautiful image - the backlighting really does make a difference! Enjoyed learning all about the dragonfly/damselfly, too! (My September photo is a Painted Lady butterfly nectaring on a flower!)
Yes, racing by indeed! Thank you for your kind comment. I do like hearing what your photo of the month is too! Painted Lady Butterfly eh? Sounds lovely! 🙂
I really enjoyed your video! It has such a peaceful and relaxing vibe, beautifully connected to nature💚 You got my subscription!
@@EmmasNatureEscapes Thank you Emma! Very kind. Welcome to the channel! 👍🤓👍
VERY nice video thanks...
@@nathonhamilton4524 Cheers!!!
Poisonous..... Berries are poisonous, Snakes are venomous
@@LigitandMeyers a good and succinct way to explain the difference. Like it. Hope you watched the whole video 🙂. Have a great day. 👍
Sadly we don't get these lovley little birds where I live. But your photos and videos make your case very well.
Cheers Bernie. Shame you don't get them. We only get them very occasionally, but it's always a treat when they do come! 🙂
You'd be surprised at how many people dont know the difference between poisonous and venomous.
🙂 thanks buddy but I bet I wouldn't be even slightly surprised! Especially having seen some of the comments on here from folk who clearly haven't actually watched the video! Have a good day my friend! 👍🙂👍
Lovely snakes , quite common in NE Scotland . Dangerous on,y to small toddlers and domestic dogs .
Definitely right up there Graham in terms of cuteness. Must admit I’m a Robin fan but who cannot be smitten by a family of long tailed tits. They sound great to😁👍
deffo the cutest, how'd you get them in your garden?
@@lisamarie4048 They are occasional visitors, not regular. I put out modest amounts of no mess bird seed, good quality peanuts, and suet balls, and a scattering of dried mealworms. 👍🤓👍
@@NaturallyCuriousUK Thanks! ☺
I agree buddy even more so the juvenile long tailed tit. I haven't managed to see let alone photograph the juvenile when you get so many huddle up together 😊
Yes I agree with you Graham. Unfortunately we don't get them in our garden.
@@ursulafuller2413 But we don't get badgers! 🙂
That was a cute little video, Graham! Yes they are indeed cute little birds, and the juvs are definitely even cuter! Lovely footage and pics as always!
@@SkylarkFields Thank you, I had a feeling you'd like that! 👍🤓👍
@@NaturallyCuriousUK 😉
ahh yes i have to agree - the word cute, definitely applies with these tiny birds, absolutely... i have no probs using the C word.. Chris Packham to whom you referred to as the tv presenter - might well take issue, although i recall not long ago he has used the "C word" once or twice to describe certain birds or animals - can't recall when, but i do have a memory of that! fantastic video. i do enjoy them, they are gloriously cute - fantastic tiny birds. oh i have never seen a juvenile, that is even more next level cuteness

Yes they are cute. I prefer a nice Sparrow, or better and larger a nice Blackbird.
@@leefrienduk both underrated 🙂
They are very cute birds, one of my favourite to photograph (when they stay still long enough that is, lol), I have not seen a juvenile Long-tailed Tit as yet though. Your footage of them is fantastic, so many of them at once at your feeders. Don't know why some people might object to saying they are cute, no different than calling a cat or dog cute to me, lol. Anyways nice little video Graham.
@@wildlifespotteruk Did you guess which TV presenter I was referring to?
@@NaturallyCuriousUK No I didn't, haven't watched any nature shows for a fair while so wouldn't really have a clue as to who it might be, lol.
@@wildlifespotteruk Chris Packham 🤓
@@NaturallyCuriousUK Ah, I should have guessed, lol. That doesn't really surprise me.
Nice video, I actually prefer the one you ended up using a opposed to the image with the side on view of the Swallow. Interesting about the instances of them trying to winter here and had no idea how far they travel to where they normally spend the winter months.
@@wildlifespotteruk cheers Jay. You'll see elsewhere in the comments that you are not alone in your opinion about the two photos, and I also now agree. 👍🤓👍
I will never get tired of hearing them, be it on a hot summer's eveving, or on a cold, rainy morning!🙌
@@TheStaffordshireBirder totally with you there! 👍
Good choice Graham 👍 , a feel good bird is the swallow. Always makes me feel good when I see them. 🙏❤
Yes, a feel-good bird indeed. 🙂
They love the coastal path in Devon.
We have been there a few times now, but the last time we went I think there were restrictions because of Bird Flu so aviaries were not open.
Thanks Ursula. We've been there 2 or 3 times over the years and on one occasion the Corncrakes calling in the aviary with the Avocets and Turtle Doves was very memorable!
fantastic august image, great footage and details too. i hope you are keeping well. enjoy the rest of your week and weekend
Cheers buddy! 🤓
Another nice little video Graham. Thornham was the site of my first time at summer camp with the Scouts. I seem to recall we saw a lot of wildlife while there, including a trip to what was then called Bird Island, but I believe now has a different name. That was back in 1964. Funnily enough I believe something else happened around that time which was personal to you?
Ha ha! Yeah, you could say that! 😆 Thanks Bernie! 🤓
Some great footage and photos there buddy
Thanks Nick. It was a good holiday memory 🙂
Beautiful August image, Graham! For what it's worth, I think you did right choosing the one you did, especially re composition and the fact that just the one subject is in clear focus to be studied and admired - the second image had my eyes dodging between the two birds! (Unfortunately for the August piccie on my own calendar - a kestrel hunting prey in long grasses - the subject is way too small in the frame and not very eye catching. It's my birthday month and I usually try and use something I shall really enjoy looking at, but this one is not it!! Never mind. Hope to do better for next year's!! Lol!)
Thank you very much indeed! I really appreciate your thoughts on the composition of the two images. Very astute. The dodging of the viewer's eyes between the two birds for the second image is not something which had occurred to me, although the idea of having odd numbers of subject rather than even numbers should have! Hope you have a lovely August birthday! 🙂 And don't worry too much about your disappointing August photo. We've all taken plenty of those!!!
@@NaturallyCuriousUK I hope you didn't mind my comment. It really was intended as a compliment for the picture you did choose! Thank you for your good wishes and I'll try not to look at my August photo too often, haha!! Enjoy a lovely month of wildlife and summer scenery!
they will be having a right old feast.
Got hundreds in my garden ok maybe thousands 😮
@@nickswildlifefootage9392 😆👍👍👍
There is a fourth. You forgot the Aesculapian Snake, non-native and very rare but can be found in some parts of Wales and oddly specifically in the grass hedgerows alongside the Regents Canal on London. It is a non-venomous constrictor and totally harmless to humans as it is not large enough to constrict us and feeds off of small birds and bird eggs.
@@GaryG1974 Indeed, I did omit to mention that species. Thank you for the reminder. It's one I must try to seek out one day especially as I live inside the M25! 👍🤓👍
