Galaxy Tab A9
In this video we take a look at the all new Samsung Galaxy Tab A9, or like many would call it the "regular galaxy tab a9" or the "small galaxy tab a9". This is the successor to the galaxy tab a7 lite, and Samsung seems to have listened to the complaints, and made some changes to this Samsung tablets that many may like. I bought this as a travelling toy for entertainment and a little light work. It's way better than I expected (I have the A7 - it's a bag of junk). I bloody love it. The A9 is now my unit of choice for the majority of use. I still use the Tab S8 for more difficult stuff, but the better tab is getting used less and less. With a bluetooth KB and mouse, it's pretty handy. Thanks for this lovely review.
I have the exact same setup as you: my Tab S8 is my laptop replacement, and I use my Tab A9 for reading and watching movies.

The screen on my s9 is amazing and very portable. But I still use my tab a9 for video watching anyway when I'm relaxing
I'm a photographer. I have this tablet that i use for editing on Lightroom when i'm outside. I like it, it's fast and does what it needs to do. I love the size as well and fits nicely in my backpack.

@@kazuhiramiller2121 it is, at least for me. Because its lcd screen, you don't get strange saturated colors like with AMOLED.
I've been looking for someone to talk about this use-case! Does it struggle with masking at all while loaded on lightroom? And/or does it take long to load raw files? And lastly, are you using the 4gig version or 8?
Does the screen do okay with sun glare when outside?
@@mikeproductivity1089 I’m using 8gb and so far I’m not struggling with any you just mentioned. It’s working flawlessly in my experience. I mainly use this tablet for editing and nothing more. And to me it does not take long to upload raw files. But every tablet is different I suppose, some are defective and some are not. I got lucky I guess.
You know that I am in England and have the A9+. And. So far . It's great. Exceeding my expectations.
Why can’t Samsung make powerful mini tablet like iPad mini.
iPads are minimized and not what you think that is all powerful
iPads are much more expensive, Samsung's A series are entry tablets.

It's all about what you need as opposed to what you want. All I NEED, is a tablet that I can use for reading and, sometimes, surfing the net. I don't have netflix or any other streaming service. I had the A7 and you're right, it did lag, it never crashed, but it was slow. But the whole time I had it, I only ever used it to take notes, or read on a daily basis. The only reason I'm looking for a new tablet is because I broke my A7 on a trip. The A9, with the 8GB RAM and 128GM storage plus a SD card, I'll put the one from the A7 (512GB) in there, and I'm good to go.
How did you take notes on the A7, since it has no s-pen support, did you just use the on screen keyboard?
@@nokodoko2490 That's exactly what I did. I learnt how to use the on screen keyboard properly, you know, swiping the keys rather than just taping them. It took a bit of time to get used to the bigger keyboard, compared to the one on my phone, but once I got used to it, it worked well enough. But as I mentioned, I used the tablet more for reading, books, reports etc.

The A9's resolution is too bad.
Samsung needs to make a mini-tablet with the S Pen, a powerful chipset, and a refresh rate above 90Hz.
or need to be called A-pen. but i think lenovo has more option in stylus use for budget tablet.
I have the A9, and though its resolution isn't that good, it isn't too bad either. It can come in handy for watching movies or reading. The resolution is 1280 x 800, which is considered HD but is a non-standard resolution. I think it's perfectly fine given it's low price.
I've had this tablet since December 2023. It's great. The battery lasts relatively long, ppsspp works great on it. Great to watch movies and TH-cam, it has a headphone jack The only thing I don't like is Minecraft has the occasional stutter.
I miss my old Tab A 8.0 with S Pen (model 2019) - the only model with mini S pen. Hope Samsung will bring back S Pen for Tab A series.
I just bought the 8gb version. I loaded it with a 2tb micro sd card and loads of 720p movies with VLC player! Its awesome
Bought this tablet roughly $70 with coupons and vouchers here in PH, I think it'll worth the money if your doing not extensive sessions instead of $400-$500 ipad mini 6th gen.

Its the best small tablet for ONLY $150. I have it is smooth, FAST, ling battery. Better then Kindle, Lenovo and others. Ipad mini cost TRIPLE the price
I wish there was an 8" tablet with FHD display and 90hz, those are my only complaints about this tablet

There's the Lenovo Legion Y700. It's a powerful 8-9" tablet. The only problems are that it's much more expensive than the A9 and Lenovo are terrible at providing software and security patch updates. I've been stung before by Lenovo. Never again.

Yeah, im currently using the Lenovo Y700. Its update and security patch hasn't been updated since last year.... But the tablet works fine, and it has bypass charging while gaming. Snapdragon 870 is still great for gaming too. So ya, although not very satisfy, but it meets what i want.😊@@MancUnionMr
I got mine a couple days ago but because it's not available here in the US for retail sale I had to go through Amazon got it for $119 the x110 model very impressed. Considering the price and everything. It paired perfectly with my Galaxy s series phone along with the Galaxy buds pro 2. Upgraded to one UI 6 Android 14
I’m one of the half a dozen people who bought a Galaxy Tab S2 8 inch back in 2015. That was the perfect mini tablet with an OLED display that outshines most of today’s tablets.
Still waiting for a true successor to that :-(
I feel ya. I had the Galaxy Tab S1 8.4 and it was solid for my daily entertainment. Just glad they had the decency to move back to 16:9 as the product line evolved.
Im currently using one, and its not bad, in my opinion. It is fast, and i once dropped it on my face by accident, and it never broke 💪💪

Thank you for your video. I'm in the UK, and I've just bought one to use during my 90-minute each way commute and when I'm working away but I don't want to lug around my full sized tablet plus a load of work gear. I'll be using it for watching videos/reading a book/generally playing around on the Internet and probably checking emails, but nothing intensive. I needed something portable, Android, not Apple, and reasonably priced (I paid £119 for the 64GB LTE version), and I'm hoping the A9 will tick the box.

I personally would suspect that this would have no trouble with those use cases, as they are very lightweight.
I don't have the A9 and can't promise it would do what you want, but it seems a pretty safe bet.

It means the US is not part of the countries you can select for the Region. But it will work just fine in the US. Specially if you paired it with an Android/Samsung phone. You should be fine.
when I renewed my ISP contract with another year they had a deal on one of these for about 100 USD, for that price, half of the retail price where I live Im satisfied with it. I dont really need it since we already have two ipads in the family but its a nice addition to bring for some in bed browsing or netflix watching when i travel for work

I think i put a note here before i have an update as far as the ram issue goes 4g ram. I'm 70 year old and only use this phone for watching youtube for my tv programming because i need the bigger keypad then have an a cell phone. I'm visually handicap. If you want to buy this only by the 8g ram if you can find it. I have fought with this 4g for 6 months and the only way i could get it to perform decent at all is by dumping everything that samsung you don't need delete what you can and put the rest of them to sleep. Then deep sleep all the apps you think you'll never use. In other words like that and then this new update i don't know i hope it helps something the security update won't probably do nothing. Anyway i would consider a chinese import if you really need ram and stuff like that you can get for the same money one with 12g ram 512 gb storage 2tb sd. Android recommends 8g and so do the technical magazines. 4g ram was good 5 years ago. And don't expect android 16 to handle it any better

I just seen this question. 4mo ago I'm sure you got your answer. Yes it has the gps , glonass etc. Satellite receiver chip. However with it not being lte model it doesn't have a-gps. By linking your phone you will get that.

I've just seen this at Best but and they have this listed for $149, and that's not bad. I just wish they made the same size tablet in S form, and I'm not mentioning the Tab S9, I'm saying something below that.

I've only tested the A9 so far
50 mini pro has many issues. L3 only in netflix. And screen bugs, unresponsive screen. A9 has taller screen. A9 is a better choice
@@rcovers173 I disagree. The NFE version has L1 and is very responsive.
I don't own either but things to consider - dual speaker vs mono-speaker, amount of RAM, screen resolution, software update support. Perhaps consider the Alldocube iplay60 mini pro, which has bigger battery than both.

I have Xiaomi pad 6. I want a portable,handy tab,just for reading and highlighting texts. Should i buy this tab or go for mini 6? 😢
depends what you'll use it for. I bought the mini 6 and regret it a bit because I use it for photography so wouldn't recommend the 6 64gb if you're going to be using a lot of files (e.g. videos, photography, storage-heavy apps). file management kind of sucks unless you can afford the 256 version. If you want something reliable for generally light apps though (e.g. notes, streaming/cloud-based apps), I don't think you can go wrong with the mini 6.
I've had mine a few months now on personally i'm a little upset with the purchase. The big one for me is the fact that samsung release the tab a9 at least for me i'm in the philippines with only 4g ram! You're supposedly going to get 5-year os updates which should put it on to about android 17 or 18 which is going to minimum required 8g ram! When i first looked in the specs on samsung site they said was 8g 128g mem. I searched all over and couldn't find it. I think the battery is small at 5,000 i watch tv with it and have to recharge it once over my 10 hour day. My realme 8 and has a 6,400 battery much better. No power plug really suck but that's the way it goes i got plenty but samsung said is for the ecology but they'll be glad to sell you one? Maybe that's like buying a car without a steering wheel and you just say hey you can always take the one of your old one! The processors nice with the helios. They probably had some old circuit boards laying around somewhere or something that only took 4g i don't get it. The a9 plus is solid with the 8 gig. There was a one other thing but at the time i forget what it is so anyway that's it. If i see this a9 released in the philippines with 8G i will be upset

Me too!😂 its great, can be slighty laggy, nothing major, have a micro sd 256G to store stuff , also cloud storage, MS Office , bluetooth keyboard + mouse. Screen could be better but otherwise fine!
@@johnhudson1965 exactly. As he stated, it is not a top tier tablet at all. I still have mine because it suits me, and for others, the Tab A9/A9+ may be the better option.

Does it show live sports smoothly? I have the tab a7 lite which lags a lot during live sports.
I thought this took over for A8 because they stop making those, I'm mad because I like the A8 for my daughter, but I got her the A7 we will see how it goes with this one.

I want to use one in a custom vehicle build that would only control a few bluetooth app-controlled accessories (an LED controller app, an aftermarket A.C. System control app, a wireless relay panel app, and possibly viewing the footage of my DVR System in the vehicle. So no more than a half dozen apps.
No gaming, No internet browsing, no music/media.
I'm curious of thus tablet will be okay for my planned usage? The small size is so ideal!
Ram at 4g/64g sucks. Android 14 15 and up require 8g minimum samsung did not even look into this before they built this phone. 4g was the standard years ago there's no way these newer operating systems work at 4g decently. I've had my two months and when i'm using youtube it locks up over and over again while you're watching tv and stuff like that i don't even play games in a 5,000 battery is too small
