I was really proud of myself for getting my Mini 3 Pro into the air after several years of being away from drones altogether, but then I ran into the this audio issue. Thanks!! I have struggling with connecting the RC Pro with the Mic2 receiver for a week. I’m glad I listened to this because I would have never, ever, thought to raise the gain. As soon as I raised it to 12 I could hear. Crazy the two different DJI products do not have better integration. Guess they don’t talk across divisions. Thanks for this clip!
Chris, thanks so much for this, I’ve just tried it by turning up the gain and it worked. Mine was on the rc pro, i’ll try the rc in good time. I used +9 gain which seemed okay, quite high in fact for my system, but i’m using the mic2 system so maybe that’s why +10 was ample, no pun …. I’ll mess around with the gain to find the best setting for my gear. Thanks again Chris, this is why I love watching YT, well, for the most part! 👏
I bought just a generic lavalier setup and it recorded fine here at the house, i drove an hour away to film a review of my mavic 3 pro and discovered it never recorded anything. :( I thought maybe i had it muted or something. Went all the way back another day and it didnt record either but would record on the laptop i took. I just figured it out and had to format the sd card in the controller, not sure what it had to do with anything but your video helped me solve it! Thank you!

talking from experience i found this a right faff to get working...its not great because you cant even check that the audio recorded on the dji rc player because it just hangs...i prefer to use the mics standalone, hit the record button and do something on screen to signify I am recording audio (a bit like a clapperboard) which gives me the sync point for matching the audio. it also stores the wav files on the mic so i dont have to mess around with downloading the screen recording (which doesnt show up in the album btw)

Hi. Doesn't this remote control record a sample of the videos we shot with the drone, like those connected to a phone? If it is recording, doesn't this microphone work for those recordings? Do we have to make a screen recording?
Many thanks for the video, considering a purchase but concern on the noise cancellation. Does it have settings to medium or to shut it off. I video competitions and we need to hear the outside noise. Can you please confirm? Thank you. Jim
No matter where you set it you will always get a little noise cancellation but it may still be something that works for you. I can’t just simply answer for you here. Better to try them from a place you can return them to like amazon if they don’t work for you. Thanks

Am I right in saying the audio recording will be on the micr sd card that you use with the controller but the video recording will be saved to the micr sd fitted to the drone? If so, how do you marry the 2 up? Or does the micro sd in the controller save both the video and audio files? If so, you don’t need 2 micro sd cards, right? Apologies again for the dumb question but I am a total beginner and don’t want to buy 2 sd cards when one will do. Thank you.
You are screen recording on the controller using the sd card in the controller. Adding the mic will simply add your audio. If you want to put that audio to the higher quality video from the drone you put those together in post editing which you can find many videos on if needed. Hope that helps 👍🏻

Hi there and Greetings from the Philippines - So, based on your video today and someone else about the actual Mini 3 Pro- I have decided and will order tomorrow the DJI MIC - with my DJI Mini 3 Pro RC yeah- so thanks a lot, you are responsible for me now spending another AU$525 hahahaha. but seriously- I will have my very fist Drone ever shortly and having said that- thank you so much for showing this to me- it is exactly what I needed and it's a huge help so I know what to do now setting this DJI MIC up with the RC Controller!! Because I am planing of using the DJI Mic in this exact way as you just demonstrated.....talking about what I see ( the Drone) and record both my voice and it is in sync with the video recorded on the screen . so this prompts me to ask a couple of questions please- 1- you say the screen recording is pretty crappy- what resolution DOES it record? is the screen recording in conjunction with the voice recording ) good enough to upload directly to TH-cam ( is it like 1080P or only 720P ? ) 2- And what is the max size SD Card I can use for the Controller ? 3- Has DJI in the meantime addressed this issue with a firmware update, so that the DJI Mic being now recognised as a device? 4- Is there any specific video recording setting I should use, for when I am doing a demonstration on the ground... while the Drone is hovering (say 10-20 meters away) as I wish to be recoding myself, during my task demo on the ground ( obviously LOL) and when talk about what I am doing via the DJI Mic?? as said I am a total beginner and any and all advise is very much appreciated. I've been using a SOONFON mic since I bought the Mini 3 Pro, but this weekend it failed to record any audio at all. I did not notice until I got home, so very frustrating as we were away for 3 days at the beach. The last time I used it was just before the last FW update for the controller, so it seems DJI have changed something :( Is the DJI Mic still working ok after that FW update last week? Thanks
Would be nice if i can find a video that shows how to get the audio file from screen recording. I get the screen recording video and hear audio, but dont have a audio file.
If it’s the dji mic you can get the audio file separately from the mics receiver. If you are trying to add the audio to your higher quality video off the drones file just add the video with audio file and don’t make the lesser quality file visible.
Hello ! I tried to make a video with sound . I have a Dji Mini 4 pro .. and a Dji microphone. I format it .. and it doesnt record anything. What should i do ? Everytime i download the video on my phone , it is without sound . Can you please help me ? And Dji mini 4 pro , only has one Port , the one that is charging .. what should i do ? I need help . How do you sync it though? The drone footage is fixed at 24, 30 or 60 frames per second, while each screen recording ends up with a seemingly random frame rate. One I did now had 9 point something, and then the next had 18 point something... I tried finding places on the timeline where they are synced, but the footage before and after always is misaligned....
Are you just syncing audio or are you syncing the video/audio from the controller. No matter what I shoot I just sync the audio/ video files from the controller to the video from the drone and they sync up from start to finish. Once everything is synced I then just delete the controller video keeping only the audio.

Yes you can sink it all up by placing both videos from the drone and controller and then detach video so it’s with the good stuff and do your cutting and editing from there. You can also record just a second audio straight to the mic itself and use that but it’s harder to sync that way depending on the video you’re syncing it too.
@@QCGUY I appreciate it. Yeah worst case is I can use wireless mic to record right to it and then have the person clap their hands looking at drone so I can use that to sync up
@@jozphotography3974 having a mic on the controller is so much nicer to sync everything up perfectly but yes the clap and sync works as an alternative. The only problem I have ran into with separate sound synchronization is it starts out in sync but records at a different rate and drifts ahead or behind making for what looks like a Godzilla episode out of china. 😆

Do that first before doing all your cuts etc and it makes it so easy like the drone recorded it.
Great video just not quite correct. At 6:29 you tell that you can't see if a microphone is connected. That is not correct. If you have a microphone connected and you swipe 1 time from top to bottom you can see a headset sign in the upper right corner. Then you know that the controller has recognized the microphone. That is important. No further comments though, great video.
@@QCGUY OK, I hadn't understood that. So after you bought the controller there was an update that did make it clear that a microphone was connected? I didn't know that either. Well in any case nice that you can now see that a microphone is connected. I am planning to purchase the 'Hollyland Lark C1' wireless microphone. With a simple usb-c lavalier I find the quality is not good and also way too soft in volume. With the Hollyland that should be better. Will see. Good luck.
@@RONALDSCHULTE I think I mentioned in the video that there was no option to use the mic early on till after this update before the video and with a update I was able to as shown in this video. Since then things continue to change and improve 👍🏻
This question is completely off topic but if anyone would know the answer it would be you. The Nano Plus, more specifically the Sky app. I have an issue, when I change camera settings (video mode 4K-30) to pro and adjust WB etc. it all looks fine until I hit "record". When I hit "record" the camera settings always reverts back into auto mode. I can't change the settings while recording, only when I'm not recording. Can I change the settings so they stay in pro mode when I start recording?
Why why why can’t I record audio to the drone footage? And or why can’t I get a clean screen recording without the telemetry so it’s simpler to just have a video and audio together this is so frustrating 😩😡😩😡😩😡😩😡
@@Schontaylor It’s low resolution so I’m not sure there’s much interest there. Autel records a video/voice file to your phone but you still have to match it to the drone footage for better quality. Again its very simple to match up to the better quality of the drone footage. It is what it is 🤷♂️
@@QCGUY sure I’m just amazed there isn’t much more community wanting something surely relatively easy; have an algorithm/software that matches the voice recording on the remote to the video image on the drone when record is pressed. But I have these crazy simple ideas.

You can playback on the RC your screen recording with the recorded audio as well incase you didn’t know. ✌️

Tried with my Hollyland Lark M1 wireless mic combo. Works but had to bump the volume to max. Only consolation is the price difference.

Have you seen the camera on the mini3 fog up like others have reported?
No not yet anyhow and given the heat and humidity I’ve had it in I doubt I will.

You are screen recording on the controller using the sd card in the controller. Adding the mic will simply add your audio.
If you want to put that audio to the higher quality video from the drone you put those together in post editing which you can find many videos on if needed. Hope that helps 👍🏻

If it’s the dji mic you can get the audio file separately from the mics receiver. If you are trying to add the audio to your higher quality video off the drones file just add the video with audio file and don’t make the lesser quality file visible.

Haven’t paid attention to the size but it’s much smaller than that of the drone if shooting in 4K. Yes you can separate the audio 👍🏻

You can use a mic in that case but I always just used a screen recorder app to capture the screen and my voice.
For some reason I slotted my SD card into adapter for my iPhone and nothing it’s empty 🤷🏻♂️

This question is completely off topic but if anyone would know the answer it would be you. The Nano Plus, more specifically the Sky app. I have an issue, when I change camera settings (video mode 4K-30) to pro and adjust WB etc. it all looks fine until I hit "record". When I hit "record" the camera settings always reverts back into auto mode. I can't change the settings while recording, only when I'm not recording. Can I change the settings so they stay in pro mode when I start recording?
I would try deleting and then reinstalling the app. Other then that I’m not sure 🤷♂️

Why why why can’t I record audio to the drone footage? And or why can’t I get a clean screen recording without the telemetry so it’s simpler to just have a video and audio together this is so frustrating 😩😡😩😡😩😡😩😡
Adding it to the drone footage in post is pretty simple. If you’re try to avoid all the post editing it’s harder not doing it than it is doing it.

@@Schontaylor It’s low resolution so I’m not sure there’s much interest there. Autel records a video/voice file to your phone but you still have to match it to the drone footage for better quality. Again its very simple to match up to the better quality of the drone footage. It is what it is 🤷♂️
@@QCGUY sure I’m just amazed there isn’t much more community wanting something surely relatively easy; have an algorithm/software that matches the voice recording on the remote to the video image on the drone when record is pressed. But I have these crazy simple ideas.
also can you do a video of the editing process? I can’t help but feel it’s not simple ie can’t do it in the remote, or in the phone (easily) 🙏👍👍
The rc has Bluetooth, don't see why a Bluetooth mic wouldn't work
I don’t think it will work because Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is disabled when you take off ?
@@elipin4128 yeah I forgot about that, it can be turned back on. I have the Bluetooth mic that came with my osmo pocket 2, I will have to try that out later.
