- In this Absolute Crime documentary, Martina Cole tells the story of Myra Hindley, dubbed 'the evilest woman in Britain' who, in company with Ian Brady killed five children in the 1960s, burying their bodies on moorland. Her behavior is examined by professionals to dig deep beneath her twisted ways to find what caused her to commit these murders. Despite her claims that she had reformed whilst in prison, Hindley was always to be denied a release and died in jail aged sixty. The point is made that her crimes appear the more heinous because of her sex.

I know right! How delusional can someone get in thinking that deep down, those were are really nice people and deserve a second chance? Clearly that priest would. And they wonder why hardly anyone attends Church anymore.
I would say they should have gotten the death penalty, but I understand that by this time, Capital Punishment was taken off the books in the U.K. I'm American by the way.
@@Farrah300Was about a month after capital punishment was abolished, the reason being it was abolished was because they'd proven the last person to be executed essentially was the wrong person (proven by law to be the wrong person).

Listening to little Leslie Ann crying for her mummy with the two demons beside her must have been unbearable for everyone in the courtroom. Excellent series. Martina is a fantastic host.
The Sun published partial text of the tapes, and I remember reading them and crying to myself. I remember the case very well. I hope they both rot in hell.
That poor woman went to her grave not knowing where her lovely son was and was never able to give him the burial her deserved. Lets never forget Keith and the other beautiful soles that lost their lives so tragically
Yes. The one secret these dreadful people never gave up. They deliberately led the police to the wrong area. Most of the bodies were found in one area. But I would be looking in the other area nearer the stream where Brady and Hindley and her sister and husband used to go and drink. I think Keith Bennett, for some reason, was more important to keep secret than the others. I think they wanted to keep that as their little secret. The British government should take it upon themselves to get the body finders out there. Scientists, cadaver dogs, and equipment like ground radar.

I shall name my dead daughter Amy Natasha Todd. 33 years 9 months 3 days old when she died of bowel cancer. She/we were told amongst other things, irritable bowel syndrome, crohns disease. By the time they found it too late. Bowel can. Old man's stuff did not even bother looking. Apologies again. Don't want to hurt.

Keith's poor mother never got to her baby a burial. She will be with her boy up in heaven.

Her picture use to give me nightmares when i was a kid. Would hold my piss all night until the morning scared to go to a dark corridor with her image in my head 😂😂

The poor parents of these children.
Their pain was everyday till their deaths as well. And these children who did not deserve to have their lives ended in such a horrifying way.

I have said this before in other comments. As a mother who held my only childs hand as she took her last breaths I am lucky to have gotten that. I know my child went straight to a place where there is only love. If I had to imagine what horrors she may have went through...I don't know how strong I could have been. Though we don't know our strengths until...

Thank God she wasn't called Mary Hindley, having the same name as the holy mother of Jesus. There are however around 100 men in Britain and not likely that all were born before 1966. I knew an old lady whose name was Mary Hindle, very close to Myra Hindley.

Evil is not a diagnosis. She was a proper nurture psychopath who played a huge role in those horrendous crimes. I think these two would have not been able to do that without the involvement of each other. It was due to the combination of their personalities and abilities. It's like when you have a door, but not a key, or a key, but not a door.

The moors consist of peat and I believe peat is subject to movement. This would make the searchers job even more difficult. I feel that now Winnie has gone the moors should be left alone as a huge grave site. Who knows they may give up Keith some day. His bones will surely have survived. I am the same age as Myra would be. I still wept at the end of this documentary hearing about Lesley Ann Downs crying for Mummy.

This incident was the end of my childhood. I was 10 years old . From then on I was restricted in movements made aware of bad people in the world, not to talk to strangers etc etc. in school and at home we were told time and time again that there are bad people who want to hurt you. This made me afraid to live.
The ironic thing was ... she wasnt a stranger and knew most of her victims. Sometimes the bogey man is a trusted neighbour.
I understand you. When I was maybe 3 or 4 years old there was a huge case in my country when a girl my age in my area went missing. At that time her father stated that she was kidnapped from her stroller. My mom was mortified... After years of investigation they partially solved the case. A father is now in prison for kidnapping and murder. But the child was never found. He claims that she is still alive and that he sold her. But his story kept changing over the years and police found evidence that the girl is most likely dead.
Those bastards should have told poor Keith Bennett’s mum where he was.

Brady was dominate in the beginning, but she learned quickly, this must have been a shock to Brady, but, once the cork was out of the bottle it was never going back in. Myra became the dominate one..
How did you reach that conclusion ? Brady was a highly dominant , narcissistic psychopath obsessed with having control and power over others all his life. There is no evidence Hindley had this trait to anywhere near that degree .
I believe all murderers should confess or be kept in prison. If they don't they are not facing their crime, if they can't admit it to themselves and others, they will break the law again. I believe multiple killers should be locked up for a whole life tariff.
Myra was absolutely blind to the idea that she helped in these murders. Either blind, or just completely ignorant to the idea. That's what made her such a sick person.
She painted this whole picture later on about Ian being a bully and forcing her into his dark world of murdering random children. That's all nonsense. If Ian WAS a bully, she'd probably say something to someone. But with getting herself into the stuff he likes, it's on her conscience. Not only that, but she let Ian continue killing kids, and she was the main voice on that recording telling that terrified wee lassie to "Shurrup crying!" She was just as big of a perverted freak as Ian was.

She was not famous she was "infamous" as was Brady, who eventually was sent to Ashworth Hospital - Liverpool where my neighbour worked. he had a Liverpool solicitor whilst there until his death, it was in all the newspapes that when Brady died he left all his privated paperworth into his care. Hindlley has died previously to Brady.

Little lesley anne downie mother the absolute hell she went through she had to be sedated daily because she was hysterical after having to see and hear her baby girl being tortured she died the same time as her daughter i wouldnt be able to go on but when u have other children u have to keep going for them my heart goes out to all the parents of course and winnie never finding her little boy she must be with him now back with his mummy poor woman but anne west what that woman went through she tried to adopt a little girl years later and they said no because of what happened to lesley anne like it was her fault what those monsters did rest in peace anne god bless the familes xx
