I learned so much in this message. I'm a academic scholar and I've been presenting on research for years. I'm a beginning speaker and I quickly came to understand that speaking outside of research is very different. Regarding the video, I loved hearing the different techniques from different speakers. I also got a lot out of the visual idea of developing my speech into a diamond. Thank you for the great advice.

This is a truly helpful guide but good lord, the guy @37:00 made me stop the video. The tips he's suggesting make my immediately dislike any speaker who uses them as they put themselves in a position of all show no substance wannabe entertainers.

Do not tell people what your going to tell them, and then tell them. JUST tell them! Repeating is for the ARMY! It's NOT entertaining at all, and it's talking down to your audience.
