How to use dental wax on braces | Evolution Orthodontics

- Wax works really well if braces is causing ulcers and cuts in your mouth.
As you proceed through your orthodontic treatment, your mouth will get use to the braces and you will find it more comfortable. Meanwhile, use dental wax to cover any poking hooks and wires.

Hi Shena, dont forget to call your orthodontist for a wire trim, in the mean time wax should help.

@@cottoncandace7704 I would say it's normal to have a bracket poking the side of your mouth. Some orthodontist recommend using a nail clipper to cut it off, or you can just go to your orthodontist to fix it. :)
If any new people are reading this the extra bit of wire means the orthandontist didn’t do a good job and u should rebook an appointment and tell them to make it shorter
@@franchesca2418 i am currently 3 weeks in with braces and it has been soo annoying to use wax due to the wire poking my cheeks because when I eat it comes off and when I brush my teeth it comes off too. I'm also running out of it because of those reasons 2 reasons, I just saw ur comment and I immediately came downstairs to use my nail clipper, and im speechless right now you just saved my life I normally wouldn't comment but you fr need to know how much I appreciate this comment 😂😂🙌🙌🙌🙌.

I got my attachments for my Invisalign yesterday (which aren’t bothersome at all) but they attached metal buttons in the back to my top molars to add rubber bands to in 4 months. And they are killing me!!! So I got some wax. Crossing my fingers it helps with my raw, cut, and scraped up inner cheek!
My Son Just Got Braces & Is Having The Same Issues. I Credit Wax Creators For Trying To Help With An Issue Caused By Braces BUT... With All Due Respect, I Think Wax Is Worthless. The Temperature Of Your Mouth IS Going To Melt Is And If That Doesn't Do It, Saliva Will Cause It To Fall Off The Braces. Applying Wax Is Something That Has To Be Done All Day, Throughout The Day Because, Again, Saliva And Temperature Will Knock It Off The Bracket.... However, Maybe This Does Help Some People. I Guess It Beats The Alternative Of Nothing At All.... ✌️
Thanks to this video I found out what the case with the wax bars was. The orthodontist who stated it was in the bag didn't show me so I didn't know what I was even looking at when I got home. All the brackets are irritating the inside of my mouth. I'm just not used to all this sharp blunt metal in my mouth constantly. 😖😖😖

Hi Julio, you will need to remove the wax yourself when not needed.
How do I take it off? Every time I take it off there is always a little bit stuck on the braces.

I have an offset bite which is more to the left so my left side of my mouth has a sore spot all the time and I was never told how to use it thank you.
They didn't teach me how to use it. When I got canker soars I'd melt the then drip it at soar. The burn would numb the soar for a bit but it was still painful
I’ve had braces for nine days now and I’ve gone through four packs of wax possibly it be better to design some brackets. They don’t Scar your mouth up like you’ve been dragged across the concrete

Your orthodontic wax is safe to swallow accidently. While we don’t recommend snacking on your supply, swallowing a small amount can happen naturally and is nothing to be alarmed about. The wax is non-toxic and will naturally pass through your system without you even noticing

Hello I got my braces fitted 2 days ago. I had to have 4 front molars(2 top, 2 bottom on each side) pulled to make space and have wires running over the empty spaces but I am having a hard time putting the wax over those parts where they rub on my cheek any advice?
jesus christ i’m also getting 4 front molars removed. 2 out already, 2 more to go in my next appointment. it was excruciating and honestly i’m scared and terrified for not only the extraction process but also the braces now. how have you managed to cope and handle everything? any tips?
@@thatsspice The first week after putting on the braces and after a tightening is the worst not gonna lie. Your teeth feel super sore and even breathing can make them sensitive. I live on mashed potatoes and soup during those times. The wires aren't really a problem anymore, the inside of my mouth got used to them and they don't cut anymore. If you have trouble with the wires put as much wax as needed to make it easier but your mouth will also get used to it. I will advise you to not eat foods that are super crunchy (nuts, crisps, and such) until the molar holes close. The gums exposed make those spots perfect for food to get stuck and it hurts if something pointy like a crisp gets in there. if you do eat them take extra time to not get hurt, Good luck my friend

@@thatsspice Yeah the gums are fully healed now but the teeth holes really become annoying while eating
i struggle to remove the food and stuff. Ima just deal with it not using the wax anytime soon.

Hi there!! One of my blue glue fell off alongside my bracket when the orthodontist were tightening my braces. They said until I improve my quality of my gums, they will place another bracket back on that tooth as well as the glue that fell off. On my left side there is glue and on the right side there isn't. This causes me to bite unevenly which causes cuts in my gums. Can I put the wax on my tooth to help balance out the sides that I bite with???
Hello, wax wont help with balancing your bite. Try calling your ortho and explain your bite is out of balance now and they may either remove the otherside or add the fallen one.

The pointy brackets are killing me, waiting for my mom to get back home from work and she bought some wax. Currently have paper towels covering the brackets because the pain is too much, i have white spots on the inside of my cheeks because of how scarred they are

Hi Jasmine, we suggest changing the wax daily. You may also find when you have something to eat or brush your teeth it may come off.
Sometimes when I apply wax, the braces loosen.
I don't know if the reason is I was forced to put wax on the braces?

There are a few reasons why brackets fall off.
1: Biting Pattern: if your biting on your brackets this could cause a breakage.
2: Patient Care: monitor what your eating, any hard foods can cause breakages.
3: Your tooth: if you have dental fillings the adhesive used to attach bracket may need to be changed to something stronger.
If the breakage happens whilst putting the wax on it may be that your applying to much force on the bracket.

Hello, it should simply just peel off. Feel free to use your toothbrush to brush it off aswell.
