I am surprized you didn't uncoat the inside of the fenders, they do have a paint like undercoating the cover rust and prevent new rust, and it can be painted over, it would help save the fenders.. and give them a longer life, seen many use on Restoring old cars on You Tube, you either paint on with a brush or spray it, it dries in a couple of hour than you paint the color of your choice over it.
I tried an Eastwood branded product on the front frame horns in another video. It was my first time using it. I dislike traditional rubberized / tar coatings and I'm semi on the fence about fluid film styles of products. Once the finished paint is on I will coat the inner cavities with used diesel motor oil.
