Sir my hats off to you ..this is my 5th video on how to put a decal on my car..each video was 10mins or longer this was less than 5 mins and literally told me everything I needed to know...you sir are a gentleman and a scholar
I knew this had to work for larger decals just like a tint job. There was no way I was going to attempt this on a 30$ factory sticker without water. Thank you! Short and to the point. Exactly what I needed.
Well everyday is a school day as they say your never too old to learn. I have to shortly put new bonnet decal stickers on my tractor I was dreading it but after watching this you made it look so easy many thanks for sharing this

Thanks for the tutorial. I will be putting new decals on my Bobcat loader and excavator soon. I was concerned about trial and error placement with the dry method.
Coincidentally I needed to replace the Z71 decals on my 2004 Sierra and found your video. I recently also put on my first window film for my garage windows and have the spray. Your video was informative and concise. Right to the point and accurate. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video. I was trying to put a decal background on an aquarium and it kept getting huge air bubbles that ruined the look. This was a life saver 🙌
I worked at fint assembly and have probabky imstalled at least 5000 of these, also the mylar that is on the beds. We used a little liquid hand soap with water in a spray bottle For the decals . Then we used some alcohol with water in a spray bottle for the mylar.
What about decals that have backing on the back and transfer film on the top? I guess it would have to completely dry before removing the transfer film?
Thanks for showing this, I just purchased a large Harley Davidson decal for my back truck window and it was terrible trying a dry install, had creases all over it. Did you you use like a soap and water solution to apply yours?
Would have been useful to know what's in the solution. I've read water and washing-up liquid elsewhere, then you see shop-bought solutions...are they superior in some way?
@@TepcoCycleRepair Okay gotcha. Thanks for the quick response and a really good tutorial video. My business just started offering decals so i think this wet method is going to help a ton! Thanks again!
What's the best method to seal the edges to prevent peeling? I'm redoing a set of $80 graphics because the automatic car wash made a fine line of the graphic peel up...
No way to seal the edges. Best way to prevent that is to make sure the surface is perfectly clean and free of any wax before installing. This will ensure the best adhesion and help prevent any premature peeling.
You can't use just water, It was a tint solution that I was using but basically use a spray bottle of similar size and put 4 drops of dishwashing detergent in it, slush it around a little bit and you're good to go. Thanks for watching.
I wouldn't, you need that drop or two of dish liquid to help hold the water on there and help it slide around. I feel water will just run off and not help. Let me know what you end up using and how it works. Thanks for watching!
Crooked Level no i tried to use water. I fucked up. Lol def. need to add some type of soap. (Not much) just enough for the decal to be able to slide around a bit freely.
It's tint spray, you can use a spray bottle filled with water 3 drops of Dawn dish washing liquid. I've used the dawn for many many years, I just has this tint spray on hand.
Crash 1974 Oh yes, that's one of the reasons to do this. When it's wet you just work out the bubbles from the center. Zero bubbles!! You'll never do that dry with a decal this size.
@@therealmccoy5433 the paper is on the backside so you have to take it off. The body line drops in the front towards the wheel, so following the body line would have been crooked.
@Dave Smith if I was doing it dry I would have left half on but when using this method you don't need to as you can slide it. The tape line was the straight line for lining it up.

Absolutely correct, that's what I use as well.

You can't use to much water solution. Spray a ton on, slide it around so it's right where you want it then squeegee it out.
Awesome...... It worked
I was the air bubble king before learning this. Thanks 👍👍
I was about to mention that you can use soapy water in a spray bottle and it will come out just fine no special solution needed!
Correct, I usually just use a couple of drops of Dawn dish soap. Thanks for watching!
They charge way too much for application fluid when a few drops of dish soap (Dawn) mixed in water works just as well.

This method works. I messed up trying someone else method. But this on it was on the money. I installed on my motorcycle.
Excellent video. I didn't know how to do that till I watched this video. Cheers!

Thanks for the tutorial. I will be putting new decals on my Bobcat loader and excavator soon. I was concerned about trial and error placement with the dry method.
Yeah, you only get one shot trying it dry. Don't be afraid to use to much spray.
I'm doing my bobcat too!

That’s very interesting. I had no idea I could use a wet method. Whole new ball game
Nice. Like waterslide transfers
Can you use soap an water for the solution
Yes
Just water? And it still sticks when dry? Clay bar, polish, wax right over it? Thanks. PS Put down on unwaxed surface?

Absolutely.

Is it just water that you spray on the clean surface?

Does the wet method not dilute the adhesive on the decal?
No is does not. It's very similar to tint application.
How come I tried this after letting my decal dry for an hour and squeegeeing it just peeled off like a wet napkin? 😬
It's probably a paper based decal, not for outside use.
