Thanks for the heads up on Ghost Station and Annie Bot! I still want to try them, but you confirmed that my decision to check them from the library was a good call. Thanks!
I picked up Pet (Catherine Chidgey) at the library yesterday. I should finish it today. Annie Bot is on order so I'll have a wait. Strange Sally Diamond (Liz Nugent): 5 star audiobook. None of This Is True (Lisa Jewell) 7th in line (hold).
Bummer about Ghost Station. I absolutely loved the suspense in Dead Silence so I’m still going to check it out though. Do you have any recent(since your last space horror video) recommendations for good space horror?
oh! I haven't read it yet but I've heard good things about Paradise-1 by David Wellington.. first in The Red Space series. I hope to read it soon. Next book comes out in Nov. *this is opposite of the novella @ around 700 pgs!
@@the_eerie_faerie_tales I listened to The Scourge Between The Stars a few months ago. Unfortunately space-horror is such a small sub-genre and it happens to be my favorite. It’s like an itch I can’t scratch lol.
@@paulblyatmallcop4914 oh nice! yes I love space horror too! there is another one.. heard mixed things about it. haven't read it yet but will sometime since I have it.. Nightflyers by George RR Martin. premise sounds similar to Scourge.
Definitely YES to Kelley Armstrong updates 😊 I read and loved her Otherworld series YEARS ago but haven't read anything since. Looking forward to Beacon Street!
awww i'm so sorry to hear about ghost station! i felt similarly about dead silence but like you i just can't resist space horror... will probably check it out via the library first 📚
hmm, I put Annie Bot on my hold list--it comes in in 6 weeks--but now it doesn't sound like one I'd like. I do have Midnight on Beacon Street from the library now so will go into it with low expectations. I have Murder at Haven Rock (library) and City of the Lost was available so I've downloaded that too.
I recently read Winterset Hollow by Jonathan Edward Durham. It's a great book and at the moment looking to be my book of the month for March. I know you like unusual book ideas so give it a look over and see if it fits your reading taste.
I share your interest in Sci Fi Horror. It was not quite Horror but Ten Low by Stark Holborn came pretty close with the strange "Ifs". They were not the focus of the book but so interesting, imo.
I actually really liked Annie Bot. I saw it as a metaphor for being in an abusive/co-dependent relationship. I would love to hear about other AI book recommendations!
You are supposed to reading those first I found the new series a little stronger so you might want to read those first to get hooked and then go back to the beginning (like I accidentally did)
@@TheShadesofOrangebelow the ballad of black Tom 😌 I’ve been trying to read the title for weeks but can’t make it out. It looks like “The End” is in it.
I am so sad about Ghost Station. I similarly was very excited about Dead Silence and it ended up being one of the few books I’ve read in the past decade or so that I hated. It doesn’t sound like Ghost Station will be any better. I think I’ll skip it and save myself some time.
gosh, it's been so many years now but I remember reading Kubica's The Good Girl at your recommendation and absolutely loving it! I've tried several more of her books and was so disappointed by them all... bummer 😕 As thrillers go, Look Closer is one of the better ones (IMO). Super twisty! ... Like Kubica, Alice Feeney is a one-off author for me, but I did really like Sometimes I Lie. 👍
Oh, no. I am so bummed to hear about Ghost Station. I was looking forward to this one. I might still give it a try. I liked her first book, minus the men always brushing hair out of women's faces, which felt cringe.
Oh man, that's a shame about Ghost Station. It sounds interesting. I had mixed feelings about this author's book Dead Silence. But if this is boring, I'll have to pass.
I've read three or four of these and I liked I'm thinking of ending things until it went completely off the rails with not only an unreliable narrator but (SPOILER ALERT!) a totally fake one but maybe I just don't get it anyway reading at least one karin slaughter is on my bucket list cause I know she's one of the biggest suspense/thrillers writers in the world also like it she lives my home state of GA ⚛😀
Thanks for the heads up on Ghost Station and Annie Bot! I still want to try them, but you confirmed that my decision to check them from the library was a good call. Thanks!

Seriously though, you are awesome ❤

I hope it works for you! And no good space horror recs. I'm aiming to post another rec video by the fall
if you like novellas you may want to try The Scourge Between Stars by Ness Brown. 😊

I would enjoy Kelly Armstrong updates as well.

I’m so glad you talked through your feelings on Annie Bot. Definitely wouldn’t be something I would enjoy after the first half.
Yeah...
I recently read Winterset Hollow by Jonathan Edward Durham. It's a great book and at the moment looking to be my book of the month for March.

Appreciate the rec

That sounds compelling
Agree! About Murder Road. And Great game, I played and finished.
I actually really liked Annie Bot. I saw it as a metaphor for being in an abusive/co-dependent relationship. I would love to hear about other AI book recommendations!
Beta by Sammy Scott
While I didn't love it, I can definitely see what you mean
Hi, Rachel. I acquired Annie Bot in March. I was really hoping it was more of a sci-fi story, so that’s disappointing to hear.
Hopefully it works better for you
I'm getting Ghost Station right when it comes out! I cannot wait! 🌌👻
I hope it works better for you
@@TheShadesofOrange me too! 😄
So the Rockton books should be read first and then the Haven’s Rock books? I’ll probably still check out Murder Road. Too bad about Ghost Station.

@@TheShadesofOrange ok thanks! I’ll probably do it the way you said to.
It’s too bad about Ghost Station! We need more good space horror! 🛸
Hopefully you like it more
What is the book over your left shoulder, above “the cabin at the end of the world”?
The ballad of black tom
@@TheShadesofOrangebelow the ballad of black Tom 😌 I’ve been trying to read the title for weeks but can’t make it out. It looks like “The End” is in it.
I’ve heard good things about Nightwatching and Kill for Me Kill for You.
Thanks! I added both to my Goodreads tbr
I just finished Kill For Me, Kill For You. found it bit predictable but I read a lot so maybe that's why. Still page-turnery and fun though!
Do you read horror books in the day or night ?
Both!
I really enjoyed Midnight on Beacon Street. For a debut, I thought the author did a great job.
I'm glad someone else liked it. I was surprised how harsh the reviewers were
Yes, to Kelly Armstrong updates. :-)
Yay!
I am so sad about Ghost Station. I similarly was very excited about Dead Silence and it ended up being one of the few books I’ve read in the past decade or so that I hated. It doesn’t sound like Ghost Station will be any better. I think I’ll skip it and save myself some time.
Yeah if you felt that way about Dead Silence you might want to skip
Was hoping Ghost Station was good 😟 Thanks for the heads-up on this. I couldn’t handle the disappointment of this, by the sounds of it
Yeah...
What are some good space horror books like Event Horizon or Alien?
Honestly not really
Oohhh Ghost Station seems interesting. Pity that it fell short for you 😢
I hope it works better for you if you try it
City of the Lost sounds good.
It really is!

I appreciate you sticking around for so long! I remember The Gone Girl was the very first ebook ARC I ever received.
📚
have you read diamond dogs by alistair reynolds? i really enjoyed it, it's a sci fi horror novella
Not yet
😊
❤
Try "Head Like a Hole" by Andrew Van Wey.
Thanks for the rec
omg one of my all time favorite books!!

Yeah...
Murder Road The same.

Yeah...
🙀
Ha ha looks like you enjoyed only a couple of all these books 😅
Yeah... you're not wrong. I'm hoping to come back with a stronger wrap up next time

Yeah I'm Thinking of Ending Things is pretty divisive. I loved it but I have tons of friends who hated it
Are you just assuming everyone is using “pronouns”? It sounds so unintelligent to use “their” the way you are using it.
Following modern APA standards 🤷♀️

100% agree.
What a nasty troll like thing to say. I feel sorry for you. 😔
I think she’s trying to be consistently respectful, which is something you clearly do not understand.
Sorry to break it to you, but everyone who uses the English language uses pronouns.
