I built a skinny bridge with a chainsaw and fallen tree!

  • In this episode, I build and ride a sketchy MTB skinny that is pretty high off the ground.
    Support the channel and buy your Cutlaps t-shirt here cutlaps.com
    This is part 2 of the multiple ride option feature. Last episode Tashi and I built a fast and flowy drop. In this episode, I extend a trail from the drop across a fallen tree. The tree lays perfectly across a gully which makes things a bit scary when trying to ride this feature. With a no-fall zone in the middle.
    I had a great time building this wooden mountain bike feature even if it was the sketchiest build yet. Chainsaws in the rain on a balancing beam… need I say more?

    Super stoked to have opened an online shop. cutlaps.com/shop/
    When you purchase a t-shirt I make a small profit that will go along way to supporting the channel. If you don't want to buy a shirt because you think they look crap, that's all good I still love you.

      Hey mate. Thats great to hear. Did you take any photos or video of your trail? Thats so cool you are in Tassie, I hear the best riding in Australia is there. The Alaskan mill is very handy, hard work, but very rewarding building features with your own wood. I would love to see pics when you get back out there.

    Skinny turned out so nice. Looks crazy to hit on bike...Would love to try it on my 26 inch Mountain Unicycle though 👌
    I'll be ordering one of your shirts as an early father's Day present I reckon! (Without the snake on the back!)

      The alaskan mill is great. So handy to be able to mill my own wood but wow it's hard work.

    You should get a milling chain, or also called a skip tooth. They are cut at a 10° angle rather than 30° and it’s more aggressive specifically for Alaskan milling.

    • @cutlaps
      @cutlaps  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Trail Jockey! Cool I can see you have gone through and watched lots of my videos. Thanks. I have a couple of skip tooth chains, but I find I get a quicker cut with my regular chain. I have 90cc chainsaw and I'm not making very thick cuts, so it's not getting bogged down at all (one of the main reasons for skip tooth chains is it takes less wood at a time allowing for higher revs). A skip tooth chain also creates a smoother finish, which is great when using the wood for building furniture, but for the trail it really doesn't matter to me. The main reason that I find it quicker than the skip tooth is sharpening. I have the Stihl 2 in 1 sharpner that is so easy to use to get it super sharp and it's doesn't work on skip tooth chains. My hand filing skills are a bit crap lol. Really should work on that a bit more. Thats just been my personal experience with milling.
