Has all the marks of a Mosher-built car -- stance, fenderwells, steelies, single pot reservoir. Beautiful machine!

The owner's manual of the Super Stock 413 said "Full acceleration should be limited to 15 second burst or engine damage may occur"...My Uncle had a 413 Super Stock that had 13.:1 compression the Max Wedge as shown in this video has 11:1. Both engines was a $290 option and total cost in 1963 was $2,900 for a high 11 second 1/4 mile car. When my Uncle died my Aunt gave me the car
The Super Stock motor came in Dodge Polara and Polara 500, and the Plymouth Savoy, Belvedere, Fury, or Sport Fury. The Sport Fury with the Super Stock motor was the top of the hill, with aluminum floor pans and doors to lighten the weight. Rear gear is 390 just tall enough for racing and a good cruiser. If you didn't check the box for exterior color you got red by default

@@JJBblitzball Yes I still have the car and will pass it down when my time comes. I recently took it in for a vacuum leak and the mechanics have never seen a car like that with the cross air ram but have heard of them. Vacuum leak was under the dash was an easy fix

As a kid I thought those were ugly. but that body style has grown on me, over the years. And years ago, saw several articles that stated, no 4 speeds available at that time, were durable enough to handle all that torque.

I really want that car... I had one as a kid just like that. 62 Dodge Dart 440, 3 speed on the floor but it had a 318 in it. 2nd gear was really nice, she would go good... This car is identical with the 2 door post. ❤❤❤

Had a light tan Polara 500 model, 383, put in a 440 but it only had 2 73 gears. 1900 RPM at 60 125 MPH but had recap tires with plenty more to go. Also put on the Ram Charger headers but not the full system. Had to lose my power brake booster.

I enjoy these videos of the vintage muscle cars from the '60s, I was around in those days and owned a few of the classics. And yes we did smile and laugh when going through the gears.
After watching many of these types of show and drive videos I'm always impressed with how the drivers and passengers are always just breaking out with excitment (10:36) when 'getting on it' in a '60s era muscle car. Especially when many of these people were not even born when these cars were on the streets. There are many good comments on this video and I would like to hear some of your opinions about these kind of reactions---it's not like we don't have fast cars today. Thanks

Who made the carbs. I had Carter AFB's in my '62 Polara 500. back in '66. These look like Hollys. Couldn't afford exhaust headers so I made cut-outs or dumps in high school auto shop. Still remember it took a 5/8" wrench to take off the covers. 76 yo MOPAR guy.

I inherited one of those from my grandfather and drove it from 1977 to 1984. It had push button auto transmission and a 318 Mopar. Hated changing the oil because it had a cartridge filter. Always a pain to put on without leaking. Heavy car too.

Actually the '62 B bodies were the lightest of all B bodies. The 6 cylinder cars @ 3250 were about 150 lbs lighter than the V-8 cars @ 3400

I'd put my money on your leak problem being attributed to either you forgot/didn't know to change the accompanying 'O' ring seal, which is MANDATORY every oil change. Either it wasn't changed, or not seated properly.

I had a 73 24' convord motorhome with a stock 413 wedge with just a little 600 holley, heavy duty torqueflite, a badass spicer 456 rear gear limitslip and cherry bomb dual exhaust dumped out the passanger side. It was a amazingly loud that screamed for a over 12,000 lbs shoe box! It would get 9mpg if you went over a pass or on the flats. Had dual 40 gallon tanks so you vould go 700 miles between fill ups! Dependable as hell and so loud that my daughter at the time would yhrow a fit whenever i started it up in the drivewsy! I was going threw a some farm lands 2 lane roads with a farmer in front of me going oh so to slow that was payong attention to us passing him just as i got beside him and floored it scarying the holy shit out of him! Thought he was going into the ditch when he realized that this big moby dick flew past him, we all laughed so hard! One other time my brother in lsw and i had dropped off the last buddy off after a weekend long bachelor party on a sunny sunday afternoon. I was only a couple of miles from home on a nice flat freeway straight away and said hold on, took that beast well over 100 mph with out a problem! Another great memory ill never forget that i had to do with someone else in the beast so i had a witness to confirm i really did it! We laughed so hard rhe last few miles home my wife wondered if we were drunk when we went in the house! It only had 36k on the odometer when i bought it and had to have the exhaust manifokd nickel welded to stop the tick go away! Sold it after i remodeled the unterior with just under 70k miles on it! Doubled my money when i sold it, what a bullet proof sleeper! I even got it to spin the 4 16.5 inch tires one time in the rain, another time i couldnt believe just how much power it had! My buddy had season tickets to the Seahawks so whenever he wanted to do the most awesome pregame tailgate parties he would ask if i want to drive Moby Dick? So for 20 bucks of fuel fuel we could go from Everett to the Kingdome and back with 10 booster club members howling there and back! It was only 20 bucks for parking in the parking lot and would put on the whole big food spread with loud grunge music setting the fun factor mood! One of my favorite Mopars i had back in the day! Great motors, good times and woderful memoeies! Mopar or no car!

These were right up there as undisputed KING's @ the dawn of the Super Stock era!........memories of early-day drag racing icons like Al Eckstrand & Don Garlits, who campaigned S/S Dodges like this! Perhaps considered 'ugly' then, but nonetheless MoPar forces to be reckoned with! Seeing these today makes my heart ache for those days of yore...the sound alone, even @ idle, is better than the best sex you EVER had!

If you speed and get pulled over, and you tell the cop that the speedometer isn't working, you'll get two tickets: one for speeding, another ticket for having defective equipment.

To clear a lifetime of speculation and BS, from a guy that worked at a dealership and raced these new. #1. All Max Wedge motors were the same. The increase of CID was 5hp. The compression 11 to 1 vs 13 to 1 difference was 1 steel shim head gasket vs 2 per side. Go home, remove 1 head gasket, bump 8° up, head for the Ethel Pump to soften the Ping. True story. Same domed piston. I still have the Chrysler Bulletin on it. #2. I think maybe like Jay Leno might be the only 1 to know this, but the 1962 Dodge Darts funky headlights were intentional, for a Chrysler Turbine motor to be installed and sold to the public. Radiator supports are unique. Thats how close we came to a Turbine production car.
