    That is a small engineering master piece.
    When you first showed it working it gave me a smile.

    Those single blade razors are the only ones I've ever been able to use the best to shave. I've always hated 'disposing' of the blunt blades and felt so sad that I never had any luck hand sharpening or stropping.
    I wish I had one of those little stroppers... but I just trim these days. I no longer shave and I'm a little sad about it, but no energy to manage simple tasks with my illness.
    Nice video.

    A little stropping compound or metal polish applied to that leather would make it work like a charm.

      they dont work well with modern ss blades, they were ment for the old 3 hole and sloted gillette blue carbon steel blades

      @TheRealWeirdoC 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@silverwiskers7371 I bought an old Twinplex stropper, and it works pretty well on my stainless steel Dorco blades. Stainless steel is ultimately going to wear out faster than carbon steel, but I can still get some extra shaves out of them with a few licks on the strop.

    Fantastic job on the restoration too. I just have one suggestion on the production.
    If you want to go for a 100% ASMR and dont want your breathing getting picked up by the mic, an overhead microphone or wearing a cloth mask would help. Cheers 🍻

      I did after I watched your video but they are either for straight razors or cartridges, perhaps it's because
      Safety razor blades are cheaper,
      I prefer them because they are easy to clean unlike the cartridge razors

    Cool but not a sharpener. It’s a stropper. Just refines the edge slightly. Can’t actually add sharpness to a dull blade.

    this was not restored ,parts that where chromed ,where painted ,a restoration is ,to restore something back to its former condition ,while trying to retain as much of the original item as possible ,if you taken the time to nickle plate the chrome parts ,that would be an acceptable compromise .

      @@Unrestored well you threw a dark polymer-ceramic over the chrome hiding it,s mirror finnish . nah thats not the way to do it , worse case scenario if the chrome is damaged beyond repair ,strip the chrome. using hydrochloric acid and Hydrogen peroxide ,then nickel plate.the rest of work done i have no issues at all , but if its meant to be a mirror chrome finish ,then it should be a mirror chrome finish .

    • @sylvaind.6786
      @sylvaind.6786 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gizmo1252000 no it's not.
      Cerakote is durable et perfectly adapted to rotating parts because of lower friction coefficient.
      It's way clever than just chroming or nickel plating.

    • @gizmo1252000
      @gizmo1252000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sylvaind.6786 then the item has not been (restored back to original) ,as the original had chrome . not some crappy ceramic coat on it . its a not a dirtbike side casing smh . if your video title says restored ,restore it ,no shortcuts . i dont care if ceramic coating is good for friction ,that,s not the point im making . if chroming is,nt possible ,then nickle plating would be a good substitute .and would not change the look of the item .

    Functionally restored, appearance, no bloody way. Where did you get the idea that an 80 year old razor sharpener would be that ugly puke brown and black color. it would have been, or at least most likely been chrome plated. IF your going to restore something, restore it, don't bastardize it and call it restored.
