My girlfriend and I went to town today and hit 3 thrift stores, had lunch at Taco Bell and got a few groceries at aldis, we had fun and on the way home we got 2 iced coffees at a speedway gas station for a total of about 60 bucks lol. Our 2 old homes in the country are paid for, old cars and trucks paid for, we are both in our 60’s and we keep it simple, works for us.
Old trucks and cars dump more pollution in environment. I am not a believer that these affect climate change but I feel we should ban older vehicles to reduce pollution to improve over all health. Ban all diesel vehicles because they dump mercury in the air which is more harmful than CO2.

Hi gardener. Trying to start a local food co-op. No takers. Plenty whiners. 2% produce food. We cannot feed the 98. Grocery stores are an illusion. Houston has a 3 day food supply. And big brother owns the highway. Ask yourself.....do you trust big brother? Do you feel lucky?

Always vote in your LOCAL ELECTIONS... Don't let someone else choose your Sheriff, Prosecutor, Judges, County Supervisors, Town Council Members, Mayor Planning/Land Use Commission Members, Water Board Members School Board Members, and other LOCAL OFFICIALS for you.
We have got to rebuild our local governments from the very lowest levels first and then work up from there.
Many local races are decided by just a handful of votes so make sure that your vote is counted among them.
Do NOT let leftists discourage you from voting by listening to their propaganda lines which say that "voting doesn't matter" and "it's too late"...
They want to keep people who love our country from voting so they try and convince those who oppose them from voting.
It happens in red areas too. The city council and zoning board in my area is full of builders, developers and local businesses owners. It's like the fox guarding the hen house. Any kind of development they approve. Zoning change, definitely. Only one council member questions budget increases and everything else.
We had a local election several years ago that was decided by one vote.

That was in the 1990s. That's when all the manufacturing and aerospace jobs moved out, leaving only lower-paying service jobs for the unskilled and hi-paying jobs for the skilled. Everyone in between got caught without a chair when the music stopped.

In my opinion alot are using their credit cards, racking them up until their credit drys up and can't get anymore. I've seen the charts on massive CCD. Then they just walk away. They also have the power of compounding interest. Which millennials will eventually reach if they live well now. Invest it's how you get wealthy. Don't spend inheritance but invest it. Take advantage of tax breaks. Look for jobs that pay a great deal of compensation in benefits over wages. Benefits are not taxed like wages. Healthcare pretax. HSA not taxed. Currently capital gains taxed less than wages. Getting stock options is better than wages. Start being smart instead of crying that generations before you took advantage of the system to build wealth. Yeah the playing field has changed. Some investments are not as good as before, others better. Crying won't improve your situation, getting up and changing things to best benefit you will. Boomers are not why you are broke. When was the last time you showed up to local governmental meetings? Did you participate in local pols of how zoning is to be done? How about voted or campaigned for local judges? You know a good bit of your costs are state and local township. But no I stead let's cry.

I would love to retire as well but the economy is so terrible that l’m going to try to hang onto this job for as long as I can…It’s not a stressful job, it’s close by, no one really bothers me and I can be home each day by 3pm. I’m also super grateful that I have a job which is helping me keep an affordable roof over my head!

HOA are suppose to work for the members Instead you have to defend yourself against them.
They are the same as all three letter Gov't agencies.

My wife and I have pensions and SS payments every month that amounts to $9500. We used to have a lot of expendable income every month. Those days are gone. Inflation, property tax increases and homeowners and auto increases have taken all our extra income away. I am in the process of getting rid of most of my toys. Mustang we keep just for fun, boat, RV etc. Just the insurance is killing us on these things. Once again there is a fireworks stand on every corner for the 4th. I noticed this year that I am seeing few if any customers buying and the tables are full to the brim. People don't have the money.
OFFS! If you can't live off $9500 a month, you're living in the wrong area and have too much leveraged! You're getting rid of most of your toys?? Doesn't sound like it if you're keeping a boat and RV. Get rid of more toys and you'll rid yourself of the insurance payments. GFG!

I'm reading and learning how people cooked and lived on almost nothing during the Great Depression because that's where we're headed like it or not.

lol! we went to Sonic. had a double cheese burger. it was so good. we got a big bottle of soda from walmart for a dollar and the mister brought us a big glass filled with ice. also potato chips were 2$ a bag at walmart. so we brought our own drink and potato chips to go with our double patty cheese burger from sonic. Sat in the truck and ate our burgers. They were good. crunchy pickles. nice big size hamburger patties. two slices of cheese on each burger!

My wife and I went on a 10 day cruise in January of this year. Everything was great until I got the cough cough after 5 days. I'm not surprised since a lot of people were coughing on the ship. I made the best of it though. You got to wonder how many people used the hand wash station before they grabbed food off the buffet.
Or, how many people washed their hands before cooking your food!

I am a Travel Agent so got a giggle see you between 2 cruise ships! Middle class are hardly traveling. Its the higher incomes that still are. Having Clients (84/86 years old) leaving this month to the UK to go on a cruise. They wanted better seats flying they spent 6 grand on air. Another 9 on the cruise. My middle Class client base has shriveled up.

Retired wife and I had hamburger, hot dogs, and Mom's Apple pie the 4th. But, MOST DAYS stay off the sugary foods, way low with carb foods or none, and that frees up some money to afford meat or seafood, and eggs you can almost live on. Dig in, my people! This is war!

I worked for a company for 35 years but in the end they put me on 'positive discipline' that works in three steps. The last step was because I told IT auditors that I had forgot to change a single default password on a computer server. There were rumors that I was one of five IT people that the VP wanted to get rid of anyway because we were being paid too much (none of us had 4 year degrees in the computer field just decades of experience).
So what happened?

Farmers “should” be among the richest people in this country because if not for farmers and what they produce…we don’t exist!
Carrabas is insane now compared to what it used to be. Every meal, even cheap pasta, is over $20. The fish always used to be the most expensive dish on the menu but now the chicken and pasta is as much as the fish and the steak cuts better than sirloin are off the chain high. I refuse to pay their prices anymore. I must be honest, I simply don't buy that a pasta dish needs to be $22. The price is up like 50%. I got the Mahi, my wife pork chops, my daughter a kids meal. We all got water and had an appetizer. No dessert. The total, with tip and tax; over $90. This used to be about $60 for the same meals.
I have been watching for months and months and always tune in when I am not feeling unsure enough about the future. Thank you for the 100's of videos and years of effort to assure me that indeed the sky is still falling just like always. When something terrible finally does happen I will be the first to say Dan was right, he warned us about this and everything else, years ago.
I feel wealthy today because I followed Dan's suggestion this morning. I wrote about it and it is on the prior video.
I checked on beneficiaries. I didn't realize that I had 4 accounts with one broker. One of them did not have a beneficiary indicated. I called and corrected the situation. I also asked if I could send in a copy of my trust. If I get sick and need someone to handle financial things, I have a trust, but the broker's office doesn't have a copy, so getting money would be delayed. Yes, the backoffice would take a copy of the trust, so a cover letter and a copy are in the mail. The action this morning saves potentially thousands of dollars in fees and time in delays.

I've been waiting for you to mention Patelco. I live in a rural area across country and thankfully do have a local bank for back up and my job cut me a live check this week. I felt safe with Patelco, but not anymore; nowhere is safe. I am below 50k. It is very hard. My parents are still in CA and I don't know how they are surviving... I know that sometimes they cannot afford groceries and it kills me. I appreciate your insights and encouragement. Peace.

My lunches at work just went up a $1. I feel for families buying food, I'm lucky I don't have a family to feed. Much of the Middle Class was living on cheap credit and now that those days are over reality hits hard. There simply aren't many $100k jobs out there.
Most people don't need a $100K job. We need to reset the incomes to more real levels which will help curb inflation. Some people are being paid too much. Most incomes should fall within $45K to $75K which is middle class. I believe a 90% income tax should be on incomes over $150K. Doctors are greedy and business owners take too much profit for themselves instead of spread wealth around to employees. Government should play more of a role determining pay of everyone which was actually suggested by President Obama in 2009, one of my favorite presidents.

Brother I learned how to live simply 20+ years ago with no debt. Then got a really good job that I’ve been at 10 years. But most people wouldn’t drive a 1990 Nissan truck or walk to work. Walking to work and around town I get to talk and meet my neighbors and others.
Insurance is getting out of control. Taxes and insurance and death are the only 3 for sure things.
Think some will have a different system. No way will they be subject to social credit and owning nothing. Just do not believe that.
With all this people running to the cruise ships,it doesn't looks like there is a problem with people not having money on the contrary.
My wife and I are living very comfortably. We have a lot more money today than we had 4 years ago. Of course I don’t rely on the government to take care of me and I don’t blame politicians. I just rely on my own resources and that has worked out just fine over my lifetime.
