I am a retired RCMP Officer living in a rural setting in Nova Scotia, Canada. I spend my time enjoying nature and feeding my furry friends, the raccoons. I also feed the deer in the winter months and many varieties of birds. I have two rescue cats named Connor and Charlotte. RIGHT!!! They are all so chubby and furry and ready to hibernate (or enter torpor) in optimal condition- thanks to James. James needs the rest this Winter as he worked so diligently and lovingly keeping them fed and watered. Feeding the birds, the deer, squirrels and Conor Cat and Charlotte will allow him to keep “regular” hours and play his instruments. Hugs from me to James, the Cats, the Raccoons and to ALL who watch this channel and love animals.

It breaks my heart to see Jim upset when Connor gets out. I know Connor comes back but it’s the not knowing that’s hard. The raccoons were a little sluggish tonight. A lot different from last night in the cold. Thank you for sharing this video.

Yeah, we need more people like him to take care of the wildlife. Only this small action has huge positive effects in the long run.
Wildlife is threatened to go extinct if we continue the way we do all around the world.

@L M100 approximately 30% of wild life is left. And the numbers have drastically decreased only in the lateat 80 years. From 80% down to around 30%. I'm not saying he necessarily should feed them with hot dogs. Anything works. This is a good thing nonetheless.

Just a suggestion,... When it's time to feed the racoons, put Connor in a carrier/cage, or put him in a room & shut the door until you're done.

Or a leash, so he can still see what’s going on but can’t get lost outside in the cold.
You feed these guys so well, meat, fruit , nuts and dessert. They are well taken care of because of you!!❤☺😇🙏😊

Charlean has a point...maybe you should lock him in your bedroom before you start the feeding. You trying to keep him in while balancing food, empty containers or the camera could cause you to fall which would not be good. It won’t hurt him and it will ease your worry and frustration. Just a thought.

I’ve seen raccoons on some other sites and virtually none of them look so well fed, happy and healthy as Jim’s crew. This blessed man is to be commended for all the selfless time, effort and love he gives so willingly to these precious creatures. God bless you Jim! 🦝 ❤️

Oh no, Connor cat escaped! Hope he returns safely. Had a kitty that was gone for 3 weeks. Came back with a collar on and a slight smell of perfume( not that he had bo). The new neighbors a few houses away thought he was a stray and took him in. Keep positive buddy 😉
Maybe hook him up to a lead inside before you feed the racoons. Then you wouldn't have to worry about conner running. Hope you find him .

That would make me sick with worry. It does make me sick with worry lol. My old girl I had, who passed away in march at 17 yrs old, she did that to me last winter. She got out 1st time she had ever done that too. Thankfully it had just snowed and I followed her paw prints and found her. I guess she had to have a brief fling outside before leaving me for good. But it scared the living hell out of me for sure.

May I suggest a crate for Connor, for his own protection? I have 12 crates for my 12 cats, so that I can keep them safe from escaping out the door whenever I am coming and going. I live in the city where outside cats face a lot of danger from cars, dogs and mean people. The cats love their crates and come running to be put up after being loose in the house for a couple of hours at a time. They know the crate protects them from being pounced on by one of their siblings while they are asleep. My crates are all sold as dog crates, and I order them online, shipped to my home. I recently found one with a sliding door on one side and a regular swing-out door on the end. This is really nice because when the crate is open you don't have the door swinging out into your walk space. It is available from places like Petco, and Tractor Supply, maybe Wayfair. I get the ones that are 42 inches at the largest dimension so I have room for a bed and a litter box inside, as well as food and water. But if you only need a place to keep Connor from running out while you feed the raccoons, the 36-inch or even 24-inch is good enough. It will really save you a lot of worry, and keep Connor safe from all those cars and cold temperatures and wildlife that might not be as friendly as the raccoons.

Is Connor Cat neutered? Curious since he seems to enjoy boltimg once in a while. Mine are spayed/neutered but they still love the outdoors. We built ours a Catio for that exact reason.

It’s one real aggressive raccoon that is starting fights with others. Not sure if he is fighting with the same raccoon but he’s something else. I love watching these videos! I’m addicted. James keeps me laughing and also educates me about raccoons.
