Picking up my frenchie tomorrow. Please make sure you go to a breeder who breeds for long muzzles, open nostrils and healthy spines. It took a lot of research but breeders of healthy bulldogs are out there.

Your 5 points are exactly on point! In the past 16 years we've had a chocolate lab and currently an English Bulldog. We gifted our Daughter a French Bulldog as a companion now that she is in University. He is a great companion pet and does well in her apartment. He can't do long walks, or long car rides and grooming of his paws, and wrinkles needs to be done daily, brushing 2x a week. He is absoulutly on guard during the night, once the lights go out he reacts to a pindrop. Regular puppy training went well but we are progressing into more advanced training since its a must with his personality, being smart can lead to stubborn.
We just got a frenchie. We’ve only had her for 3 months and somehow she managed to dislocate her hip/femur. She can’t move her dear right leg at all and it’s completely limp. Hi, I've been wanting to buy a French bulldog for a long time and I don't want to put the option aside, because I really want one, but the question is do I have to worry about transporting it in my car? Well, once a year I go to a summer house that I have on vacation and the trip takes an hour, he would go in the back seat of the truck with the window open. Sorry for the inconvenience, I would appreciate if you answer my question since I need to solve it as soon as possible.
Thank you so much for making this video! Frenchie's are so adorable and I can see why people love them but based on what you're saying I should DEFINITELY not get one. I split my time between Hawai'i and the upper peninsula of Michigan (basically Canada) we travel allot, we hike allot and my family members who are not in Hawaii are in central Arizona where it's very very hot. Guess I'll have to stick with the Australian cattle dog. I love my Heeler more than life itself but she's a bigger version of the breed at 50lbs. I'll just look for a smaller Heeler next time. Researching these things because she's 16 years old now. Thanks for the info.

Don't know about bulldogs (I have a Newfoundland). Responsible breeder may suggest to get the second puppy for half a price. At least couple of breeders were suggesting this option if they knew that your puppy will spend a long time inside alone. But I think it depends on the breed (some dogs do not like to share their family with anyone), and on the breeder (many care about their dogs more then amount of money they are making)
I need help. Just got a 6mo male frenchie & he keeps attacking my other 2 male dogs, especially my pitbull. He will play together but he will go after them over just about anything. If he's on the bed with us 1st & the other dog tries to get up, he attacks, if he has anything such as toys food, water & even ice cubes, if the dogs walk in his general direction HE LEAPS AT THEM & STARTS ATTACKING. SMH The other dogs hold back since he's smaller & when I yell stop & break them up they are fine, not my puppy ;( he will keep trying to get to them. Last night I broke up a fight & he bite me in the process & drew blood. If you have any tips or suggestions for this I'd greatly appreciate it.
My Frenchie is very protective of me and growls if anyone comes near me even my son's but does settle when he realises they mean me no harm and a excellent watchdog and will bark if he heard anything especially at night thankyou for the brilliant info
My Frenchie boy is a maniac he has us 247 and still is destructive haha only time he sits still is when he is sleeping. Can’t even have him in my arms or lap for more then 30 seconds before he goes wild lol I had a girl Frenchie and she was complete opposite
You should subscribe to Griffin Frenchie. The 2 dogs are amazing. They run around quickly & you can tell they're smart & well trained to do many things you their channel..
today i got a 9 month old family relative as they cant look after her anymore ,shes adapt very quick to me and the kids ,already give me lots of cuddles , im worried health issues tho already ,she look really heathy breed ,
Will!! Your comments work! Lol! Please please do a video on IVDD. I'm a long time Frenchie lover. I can't imagine my life without them. We recently had my youngest have to have IVDD surgery. It was the surgery or I had to put her down. 8000.00 us dollars we spent. I see Frenchie owners have their adorable dogs diagnosed with this almost daily on Frenchie fan pages. People just DONT know. I feel strongly that a spotlight needs to be put on IVDD. So much focus is put on their breathing...their tendency for spinal issues is truly heartbreaking and can hit you out of nowhere.
I’m a waiter who owns a Frenchie. I was nervous at first about the separation anxiety, but he’s REALLY adaptable! I just make sure we play really hard before I leave for work. And if it’s going to be a long shift, my family helps me with his walks. So my 2 cents is, don’t knock the Frenchie if you have a small support system to help you. It doesn’t take much, and my Krug aka Bubz is really happy.
Agree with most points to a point. Lana has her nose folds groomed daily-her ears once a week.I am home with her all day but she loves to sleep in her bed or on the couch. I am mobility limited so short walks work best. We live in a hot climate but she always has access to water and A/C. She will Sun herself but when she gets warm she comes inside. She LOVES traveling!!!! We go in my truck and she loves looking out. We have a tether that clicks into the seatbelt latch and on to her harness. Room enough to move but not restrictive. FINIALLY,she is a fierce watch dog. When the ring doorbell goes off her hair stands up and she barks at the door. Not big enough to hurt anyone but let’s us know!!! Wouldn’t trade her for the world!!!!!!
Owner here for over 6 years and you are 95% on point but all frenchies aren't the same and the smaller they are and more exotic looking the more true you are though. Stubborn yes, but they are willing to train and learn tricks, they are very needy yes, but the older they get the more they just want you around and a few pets and walks, they cannot walk long and far but love walks.
Lol I just got one to he's 5 months old . He hasn't cost me a fortune yet but they are very hard to teach. When I had pitbulls they were easy to train .
Very accurate video and well balanced. Ex Forces dog handler and Frenchie owner. Just a comment on the flying concerns. Most major airlines have revised their controls on transporting Brachycephalic breeds some like Qantas even stopped completely until getting external advice from vets on safe transportation. It is now much safer and easier to transport them via air but only when absolutely necessary. One tip missing. Say goodbye to your personal space lol you will have an extra shadow for life!!!
Can’t argue with any of this, however the guard dog one made me laugh as mine always kicks off with front door movement but immediately loves u after like an extended doorbell 😂
I have one and she goes bat shit crazy when left alone. I would say no more than 4 hours alone. I woul lock my girl in the kitchen with my Yorkie and go to work. I’d come back to a mess! She chewed a hole in the doggie gate and chewed my drywall!!!
That's why you buy from a breeder who does very thorough health tests. I'm picking up my puppy tomorrow and her parents (and grandparents) are free of kissing spines, they are taller, have longer backs, they have longer tails, open nostrils and long muzzles. The breeder has seven dogs and non of them make these typical grunting sounds short muzzled dogs usually make. I hope that all breeders eventually start breeding healthier bulldogs, they have such great characters.
@@Themagicunitato The key is not to give them too much water. The water builds up in their sinuses, head, and joints and turns into inflammation. That's why it's hard to breathe. I give mine a little water in the morning (1/2 cup), take her bowl up, and give her a little water around 6pm (1/2 cups). that's it.
@@hairrus7278 That's definetly not enough water for an adult dog though. Water is very imortant for joints and cartilages. Never heard of anything like this. Feed a high quality food and give them joint supplements when they're old enough.
@@Themagicunitato ,my puppy only weights 7 lbs. When she becomes an adult, I will give her a little more water. But the excess water just turns into inflammation in their joints, sinuses, etc.
We love our little Frenchie and we're glad we got her. But here's another reason not to buy one: they are often stolen. We're having a lot of problems with that in the US. A woman just got mugged--severely beaten--and the perpetrator did it so he could steal her French Bulldog.
I agree with a lot of these statements. I do think the health issues are still kind of a hit or miss. I lost my frenchie at 11 from a heart tumor. Otherwise he had no health issues so I guess I was lucky, but I was always very careful with him in the heat. I now have a new frenchie puppy. I can’t live without one, they are just the sweetest most loving dogs. They are very needy and if someone can’t spend a lot of time with them, they shouldn’t get one. What does help them being separated from you though is having other dogs to keep them company. I have always had other dogs so when I did leave my Frenchie for a few hours he wasn’t lonely.
agreed. my frenchie is 11 right now and he has had no serious health issues. he is showing signs of going blind. his eyes are getting milky. especially is right eye. but he 's 11 years old as well. all animals are eventually going to succumb to something. just like humans. considering frenchies have a lifespan of 12-14 years i'd say he's had a pretty good life. one of the best investments i ever made was getting him. if i can afford to get another i might but they have gotten so expensive.
When you discuss being a tough breed to travel with for health reasons, would it be difficult to bring him on a 3-4 hr road trip? I am away from home but I would like for him to come with me to visit family! Thanks whoever responds in advance..
I have 3 Frenchie's, 2 don't mind road trips, one, absolutely hates them. But once we get going and he's allowed to sit in someone's lap, or in direct line of sight of me, he mellows out. Schedule breaks for quick walks and water, and keep them close, and long trips should be fine ;)
It’s fine, make sure to secure them in the car though! A dog seatbelt + harness and or a dog seat to make them super comfy. Mine rides in a booster seat. It’s not safe for dogs to be in the passenger seat :)
My Frenchie loved long car rides. She and I travelled alot together doing 11-12 hr drives. As soon as she saw me with luggage she'd get so excited and wait by the door. Once that door opened she ran straight to the car and waited by the door until I put her in. She loved it!
I just got a frenchie , he just turned 5 months old and he's impossible to teach . I've had pitbulls my whole life and they are lot easier to teach and far more intelligent.
Not sure I agree with a lot of this video . We just acquired a 16 month old Frenchie who is perfectly fine sleeping in his cage at night and occasionally likes to go in the cage during the day . As far as being a guard dog he sure as hell lets us know when anybody is at the door or in fact walking by the house . I don't have any comment on Vet bills other than I suspect you might be right BUT having brought up two Kids expenses are a way of life . We live in a downtown location in a three storey house and our guy runs the stairs like an Olympic Steeplechaser , also we have more than our fair share of wildlife including Squirrels, Racoons the occasional skunk and Birds . He pretty much objects to all of them however he earned his keep recently when he nailed an impressive rat who made the mistake of checking out our garbage cans which is a down side to City living and being close to Restaurant s . He is work and at 25 lbs he is not the perfect Lap Dog and with those Bat ears and face he makes you laugh quite regularly .
They are adorable but I fell in love with toy poodles first. Unfortunately my toy, in her declining years, with her arthritis, collapsing trachea when excited and sensitivity to heat, she sounds more like a French bulldog, but I just got her a stroller 2 years ago when she turned 13 and the frenchies need one their whole life. Love them though, the frenchies. Poodles are sensitive, too, and can’t be left alone either. And although they don’t shed, and I have proudly learned to groom her myself during the pandemic, the whole shebang, poodles are definitely VERY high maintenance. Now we are getting older together and once she breaks my heart, when I have to say goodbye, I will name the next poodle after one of her nicknames. I just love dogs, especially the little ones, they are definitely more loyal and true than most people I have known.
Well... maybe you bought from a bad breeder and bought an exotic color (ex. Blue or Merle). My Frenchie is extremely healthy and active, but that is because we keep him active everyday since we live at a lake in Canada with lots of fun ways for them to stay active. Mine is 7/8 Frenchie and 1/8 Boston, so that could contribute to his better health. My Frenchie would absolutely hate being in a stroller lol!
I boycott french Bulldogs or any snubnose dogs. I feel really bad for their genetics. Also, there is a lot of french bulldog thefts where I live. ( rappers/celebrities/ rich people owning frenchies) made it a trend and fad for people to be kidnapping these dogs. I owned a lab mix and I love him to death.
Yeah that's all well and good except for the fact that they've been bred since the 1800s so you really aren't going to make that much of a difference with your "boycott" 🤷🏼♂️. Trust, I agree with your thought process, sadness, and disgust... however, I'm pretty sure you don't have a time machine...so... I inherited my girl from my deceased mother...all we can do is work to make their lives the best they can be. Research and knowledge...from actual DVMs...but more prevalently actual scientists within the canine research field, are generally the most helpful in advancing possibilities of healthy, longer lifespans of this breed as well as all that descend from 'canis lupus'...the origin of all domesticated dogs from Grey Wolves
These are like the range rover of dogs smh thats sad i really wanted one but im not gonna pay a bunch of vet bills because this thing is struggling to exist
Got a boy French bull dog... he was to needle, and when l didn't give him enough attention he shit & pi$$ everywhere, he bite my son because he was jealous of him...After that l got rid..
So basically if I want one of these dogs I need to stay home and be a bum meanwhile I’m in grad school studying to become a doctor and that’s definitely not an option as I am never even home enough to feed my fish…
I have always wanted a frenchie! But, I am disabled and live on a fixed low income and I know with their health issues I wouldn't be able to afford the vet care they may need, so sadly I will probably never own one.
I’d recommend poodles ! They are non shedding hypoallergenic and are generally very healthy ! I’ve owned poodles for years and I believe they are one of the most intelligent and affectionate dog breeds out there !
We have a frenchie! Love him to death! Everything is true but it doesn’t matter! So far not too many visit at the vet. Very loving, hard to potty train! He makes a laugh every single day!
My Frenchie Milo has been healthy thus far . Never had a health issue apart from some food allergies .. He's even able to swim ( in moderation) and also able to "breed" naturally I love him .

Hi could u pls tell me why my frechie chew her feet, i got her at 2 1/2 yr old ask previous owner she just said oh she alyz done it?? Ive tried oatmeal wipes and balm but they get red between toes speical food made for her needs but still???? Thxs jeanne ans Tilly x
All dogs i considered getting dont want to be alone. But i have to work... I work only 6-14 is it really that bad that i cant get a dog? Or im not getting this information right?
Thanks for watching, we have a video looking at the best guard dog breeds for full time workers you might find helpful: th-cam.com/video/tkpyuPizz6M/w-d-xo.html&pbjreload=101
All,dogs require a LOT of your time. Not one dog out there should be left alone for long periods. Good luck! 👍🏼
I will give every free time to my future dog ofcourse... But i am a working person... So 8+ hours maximum out. The rest we will be together :)
my french bull is my life , he has a stroller when he gets tired, i have systems in place to protect my family
he is the baby of this house !!!!!!!
I don’t have a stroller for him but that is a great idea! The neighbors often make fun of me for carrying mine at the end of walks on warm days 😅
Dang great info but now I’m not sure. Now what am I going to do lol. Vet bills galore
Absolutely love the breed. Would like to have one bit the health issues give me pause.
SMH
The other dogs hold back since he's smaller & when I yell stop & break them up they are fine, not my puppy ;( he will keep trying to get to them.
Ya he is small but protects u from everything he can
Thank you for the Heads up. I got a Frenchie for my Birthday Gift. he is soooo adorable.
My FRENCH has been in South Amerika (2 times) and America - he is 7, and never been sick !!!
He lives in Sweden ......
I agreed with you on most part. Except: my baby travels well n knows a wide variety tricks.
My Frenchie boy is a maniac he has us 247 and still is destructive haha only time he sits still is when he is sleeping. Can’t even have him in my arms or lap for more then 30 seconds before he goes wild lol I had a girl Frenchie and she was complete opposite
Do you have one? What makes you an expert? I see a golden or lab back there
You should subscribe to Griffin Frenchie. The 2 dogs are amazing. They run around quickly & you can tell they're smart & well trained to do many things you their channel..
And now one of their frenchies has a broken back. Sad.
Very good descriptions, they are indeed like you describe.
This is good to know. I'm a traveller and it sounds like they need a stable vet at a moments notice.
today i got a 9 month old family relative as they cant look after her anymore ,shes adapt very quick to me and the kids ,already give me lots of cuddles , im worried health issues tho already ,she look really heathy breed ,
Interesting and informative video. Thank you, for getting right to the point.
We Adore our 2 Frenchies
Sooooooo
Happpppppy with them
💗💗💗
I really appreciate this video. I’ve been wanting a Frenchie for a while but for reasons 5 and 3 I’m not a great fit.
Trust me it’s the best breed
It’s small and u can ask anyone it trains very fast and it wags it’s tail after seeing any one random
Stopped it at separation anxiety because he doesn't have it. It's just not a problem!! He just sleeps.
I adopted a Frenchie a couple of months ago and she's so ridiculously chilled out.
That’s not typical. My girls are rowdy little Divas!!! I am their servant, they are my master.
Very well said , I’ve learnt the hard way. Love my little Frenchie but he has cost me a fortune, really should not be bred .
Lol I just got one to he's 5 months old . He hasn't cost me a fortune yet but they are very hard to teach. When I had pitbulls they were easy to train .
This is one hundred percent true!!! I have a 9 month old pup. Love her to death but she destroys everything when left alone at home.
Every dog does that and big ones do more it takes atleast 2 years for them to be enough trusted to be left alone
How bout crate training them and stop complaining.
Wow. Great video. Very informative
Pooch in the back as you said "impossible to resist" haha. *YAAAWN*
Can’t argue with any of this, however the guard dog one made me laugh as mine always kicks off with front door movement but immediately loves u after like an extended doorbell 😂
Thank you so much, this really helped me
really helpful thank you 😊
So working an average 8 hour day but being with them at all times other than that is ok?
I have one and she goes bat shit crazy when left alone. I would say no more than 4 hours alone. I woul lock my girl in the kitchen with my Yorkie and go to work. I’d come back to a mess! She chewed a hole in the doggie gate and chewed my drywall!!!
@@kwhite71376 hahahahhaha omg the drywall?! That’s crazy.
I have one she’s so cute she’s my BFF she sleeps with me every night now 🥺🥺💕💕💕
They are genetic nightmares. They often have crooked spines- like bent.
@@hairrus7278 That's what my puppy weighed at 6 weeks...good luck I guess.
I've got one, they are needy AF!
We love our little Frenchie and we're glad we got her. But here's another reason not to buy one: they are often stolen. We're having a lot of problems with that in the US. A woman just got mugged--severely beaten--and the perpetrator did it so he could steal her French Bulldog.
Hey Jeanie thanks for watching and sharing!
That is terrible and heartbreaking!!
True, true, true, true and true! Sigh....COVID means both pawrents worked from home and will be even harder to leave him home once this is all over.
So quit you don't need a job if you have the love from your puppy! Hahaha
Mine loves to bark! she is absolutely a good guard dog!
When you discuss being a tough breed to travel with for health reasons, would it be difficult to bring him on a 3-4 hr road trip? I am away from home but I would like for him to come with me to visit family! Thanks whoever responds in advance..
Road trips are fine in my opinion, my Frenchie loves the car and does well on long trips :)
I alredy have two of them and an english Bull dog
As soon as I found about this channel I had to Subscribe! -Cronk
Can a Frenchie mate with the brother of her dad
That skinfold is such BS - they say same thing of sharpeis and mine lived for 17years and mine also had flatter face and snored
I just got a frenchie , he just turned 5 months old and he's impossible to teach . I've had pitbulls my whole life and they are lot easier to teach and far more intelligent.
Is he with you most of the day?
@@jennifernelson4896 of course. He's my best buddy
has it gotten better now that hes older
My dogs always with me 🥺💕
As our experiences with Frenchies and Pugs...they can be outside ALL DAY and STILL pee/poop on your floor!
I know that frenchies have their Health issues, but wouldn’t the health issues be worse if they are not from a proper Breeder and healthy parents?
So they cheaper in South America, but you're saying I can't fly them out.. shit....
I'm sorry but those 5 reasons is exactly why I love French bulldogs and love always win 🏆 💖
He pretty much objects to all of them however he earned his keep recently when he nailed an impressive rat who made the mistake of checking out our garbage cans which is a down side to City living and being close to Restaurant
s .
He is work and at 25 lbs he is not the perfect Lap Dog and with those Bat ears and face he makes you laugh quite regularly .
They have the best personality and gets trained the fastest
My french bulldog Max he is 12 years old... he is still active ang healthy. I can leave him home 7 hours no problem att all.
Well its to late for me i got a frenchie 4 years ago
These are like the range rover of dogs smh thats sad i really wanted one but im not gonna pay a bunch of vet bills because this thing is struggling to exist
Got a boy French bull dog... he was to needle, and when l didn't give him enough attention he shit & pi$$ everywhere, he bite my son because he was jealous of him...After that l got rid..
@Yolanda Omar moral of your story is you must be barring, the little pox bit my son. But you don't get that. Chump!
He did mention huge vet bills
So basically if I want one of these dogs I need to stay home and be a bum meanwhile I’m in grad school studying to become a doctor and that’s definitely not an option as I am never even home enough to feed my fish…
Studying to be a Dr and you start by saying “so basically…”. I’d pass on you as a Dr. Professionals speak dumb now-what a pity.
I have always wanted a frenchie! But, I am disabled and live on a fixed low income and I know with their health issues I wouldn't be able to afford the vet care they may need, so sadly I will probably never own one.
Insurance is about £35 a month, get rid of your phone bulldogs are much better for your health 🙂
Now I need to see a BEWAREOFFRENCHBULLDOG sign
My Frenchie Milo has been healthy thus far . Never had a health issue apart from some food allergies .. He's even able to swim ( in moderation) and also able to "breed" naturally I love him .
Thanks you just saved me a lot of grief.
Well we love her but shes kinda a trikster
Best furry family member I've ever had was a Frenchie. Miss him so much!! Rip
