The Castle and Key distillery is about 5 miles south of Frankfort Kentucky, next to the Glenn's Creek distillery. The 4 years old Castle and Key bourbon tastes younger than 4 years to me. Their distillery is nice to either walk around for free with access to the gift shop and bar, or pay for a tour inside the distillery buildings. Glenn's Creek is less fancy to visit, but has better and more expensive bourbon, from new pot stills in the Old Crow distillery that was abandoned in the late 1980s. Another new distillery is J Mattingly in Frankfort, across the road from Buffalo Trace. They do tastings for as low as $20.
On the Barrell release, I believe I heard a different whiskey TH-camr mention that the numbers on the label that distilleries submit for approval do not have to match the numbers that appear when the bottle is actually produced. They are just placeholders.
The bottles are out there. You may just get fortunate enough and now you are armed with the knowledge to make the right decisions. I have a part two coming out with more findable bourbons. I always try to do a mix.
That castle and key wheated bourbon sounds like it is worth a try. I will see if it comes up near me. Thanks for the monthly update.
Word! Keep me posted on your hunt.
The New Riff might be the only one attainable to me at retail. For the Pappy stuff I put my name in a raffle. Doubt I'll win but it's worth a shot.
I've got my fingers crossed for you. You can do it.

I'll be sure to check it out when I run through that area next year. Thanks for the recommendation.

Potentially but that label came from barrells Instagram account.
I’m curious what that Barrell will retail for.
No idea if could be anything. I'm thinking $599 if I had to put a price on it.
So sad to live in Indiana. So close to Kentucky and none of the distribution.
I found Indiana pretty solid for whiskey hunting. Mostly in the southern part.
Thank you for the monthly update. Unfortunately, I'll never see any of those bottles. No chance.
They will be out there somewhere.
Would you pick PVW15 or WLW?
I'm a big wheated bourbon guy so this is a tough one. I think the WLW just because the proof. Though the Pappy is a party pleaser.
I remember that Castle and Key review. It did not go well for them.
@@alext9723 everything changes with time Alex. Well maybe.
33 years on that Barrel? Hard to think they’re gonna get too many bottles out of a barrel-if any? Some dark water with chunks of charred wood maybe 😂
At least it'll be Canadian as they use spent bourbon barrels.
Bottles you won't be finding this November
@@tnicholson76 I try to do a mix. I would say there are findable ones there too.
@TheWhiskeyCove no worries. I just live in NC and just cringe every time I see posts about BT drops.
@ I totally get that. NC is not a fun one.
cringe anyone who thinks you need to look for $600-10k bourbons....

Why not talk about bourbons and whiskey that poeple can actually find and afford
I try to do a mix. I would say the new riff, Castle and Key and even that barrel will be very findable in most states.
