    I’ve been painting mine and not putting them in the oven, but this looks more even. You can also use Elmer’s Glue instead of mod podge, and the paste food coloring like they use for cake decorating will give you more vibrant colors. (This is really concentrated tho, so use a tooth pick and put in a little at a time!)

    I want to do some small glass perfume decant bottles. If I dye the inside, will it lease a residue or scent , and interfere with the perfume? Or can I dye the outside of the bottles?

    Would this work as a flower vase? I am curious if I could turn jars into vases for a wedding, or if the color would come off with water sitting in it and stems scraping up against. Anyone tried it?

    • @leaperrins8373
      @leaperrins8373 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I see questions like this all the time and they drive me crazy. I am sorry if my response seems rude but are you not capable of thinking for yourself? How on earth is someone else going to know what is going to happen to YOUR vase that they have never even seen? You don't even know and you own it!
      Please try to THINK and don't expect others to do it for you. All you are doing is giving your power over to others and coming across as someone who is not capable of using their brain. The only way to know the answer to your question is to try it. If the vase has sentimental value then you will have to weigh up the risk of it breaking which is a decision no one can make but you. As stated in the video, you must start with a cold oven.
      Strong independent women don't give up power - they claim it! They don't wait on answers from others - they go and find them for themselves. Goodluck!

      In order to become successful in life, an inquisitive mind needs to ask questions and learn. This process expands the mind and paves the way for broader understanding. This has nothing to do with feminism. It DOES have everything to do with cyber bullying though. So next time you decide to irrationally lash out on someone, think about your own hypocritical words first and instead of being abusive, try embracing the question with dignity and support fellow women!

    • @linds972
      @linds972 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I think Sandra eloquently said everything that needed to be said in her reply to your atrocious comment. However, I believe that I must also have my say as well. Your comment is firstly, horrendously offensive and also hilarious. You are arguing that curiosity equates to vulnerability and lack of independence, how laughable! As Sandra said, students in classrooms are encouraged to ask questions. Often times, those select kids are learning more, adapting as they are the ones who are brave enough to seek help. Instead of sitting in silence confused, they are the ones who speak for those not brave enough, too embarrassed to speak out.
      There is nothing wrong with being inquisitive. Also, as a woman I think you are COMPLETELY misinterpreting the movement of feminism-- and what it is to be a strong independent woman. Asking questions is what leads to understanding and further development. Also feminism is about women SUPPORTING women (which you are clearly not doing). I apologize if your way of doing things has led you to believing everyone else follows the same behavioral pattern. Newsflash: we don't.
      Also, do not say sorry then follow up with "if this sounds rude". Saying sorry then following up with the poisonous vile that has spewed out of your offensive mouth negates the apology. So in the future when you decide to bash someone, don't apologize; you're clearly not sorry for the hideous comments you're about to make.
      Goodluck!

      lea perrins You come off as a demeaning, arrogant, closed-minded bitch. I have never seen anyone berate someone so low as you did because of a simple question asked. I just hope you never become a teacher or mentor because you limit and restrict people from asking questions. You know some people don't use critical thinking or common sense to their best of ability or just takes longer to do things. Strong independent women don't take away other women power to ask questions.

    • @judichristopher4604

      No... you'll not get the same effect.
      Mod Podge is GLUE... that is why it drys clear.
      Paint will not dry clear... but you can try it, maybe it will turn out good.

      +Christina Geller I don't think so because I know that they are not food safe and that people that have even used them as a vase the water clouds them. I only use these for storage of some of my craft supplies or fake flowers.

      You could tint the outside instead perhaps? Or use a proper food safe paint designed for these projects.

    • @AndreaBostonMumab3r2014
      @AndreaBostonMumab3r2014 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      lea perrins would tintning the outside use the same mix just painted on obviously, just wondering as I wanna do this but my vases are huge af and I only want like a half tinting kinda look lol.

    • @leaperrins8373
      @leaperrins8373 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @ Andrea, Yes it's the same mix. The only disadvantage with painting this mix on is it seems to go on more streaky. If I were you I would experiment on an old jam jar. Remember that this isn't permanent so if you didn't like the look you could clean the tint off. If you wanted something more permanent (and more costly) consider proper glass paint - good luck!

      @@leaperrins8373 I use the Outdoor Mod Podge (they also have a dishwasher safe Mod Podge)
      and I've let it cover the outside as you did on the inside (I didn't paint it on per se)...but just let it flow over the outside and cured them the same way you did in the oven and they are waterproof so I can hand wash them in a mild soap and warm water....been using my cute little glasses now for over 2 years...color is fine.

    Can these be used as regular drinking glasses with the stain?

    • @DivingHeadFirst

      No they are not food safe after you stain them

    • @michellecook7586
      @michellecook7586 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could use a alcohol ink dye (You do NOT need the Mod Podge)...don't paint it on but just let it run down the OUTSIDE of the upright vase. And you can skip the oven as well with the Alcohol Ink Dye ~I just sealed the glasses with two coats of clear acrylic sealer. Spray thin coats so it doesn't run or drip on the project. Make sure to apply it in a well ventilated area. Depending on what finish you want, Rustoleum and Krylon offer sealants in matte, satin, and glossy finishes. I personally love the Glossy finish (because it has that shiny look). I have found plain Jane juice glasses and gave them a bit of color on the bottom part of the outside of the glasses...they turned out awesome! I know there are videos here on youtube
      ....I hope this helps ~ Good Luck!
