I could also see a FOTB3 where his younger daughter is getting married. After all, she would be older now than Annie was when she got married. Watch Annie get all freaked out cuz her baby sister (the same age as her son) is getting married only in her mid-20's. And when she starts hearing about how much it costs, watch her get hysterical over how much her parents are spending, only for her dad to point out how expensive her wedding was.
@Luis Rizo While it was an amusing movie, in my opinion it did not compare to Steve Martin's version. And Martin Short was iconic as Franck. And the two of them together have always been magic.
@@lacymom1109 I think the 2022 version of FOTB was more about adding some diversity to the franchise versus introducing hysterical comedic characters. White folks aren't the only parents that can drop some major coin on their daughter's wedding.
Omg I had just finished watching those movies again. This was a perfect treat! Everything about it, Chloe as Diane Keaton, surprise Kieran and Selena omg
Oh. My. Gosh. 😮 I loved this! ❤ Was feeling nostalgic over the weekend and watched Father of the Bride 1 & 2 (its been over a decade since i last did) & asked myself “where would the characters be now? 🤔” This was perfect timing. The comment about Franck’s accent made me cackle lol Steve Martin & Martin Short are absolute gems 😊
8th Nancy Myers-style wedding lol (those movies are wealth fantasies). Forgot Short did Franck - good excuse to bring that back. Needed more Chloe as Keaton!
Chloe was great in this, but you'd think if you're writing for two legendary comics like Martin and Short, you'd write a proper ending for your sketch.
I'll just chalk this up as "The dress rehearsal version probably had an ending, and it got cut short due to time reasons." EDIT: I was right, mostly. Since this was the last sketch of the episode and they were running on borrowed time, it did feel like it had no definitive ending. And if that's the worst thing you can say about a sketch from this episode, then consider yourself lucky.
Father of the Bride 2 came out in 1995 and a frequent criticism of SNL in the late 90s was that their sketches didn't have endings so, in a weirdly accidental meta way, the 90s are back.
As much as I love these movies, I have to admit they convinced me it was totally normal to have a ridiculously expensive wedding. Luckily, I eloped. But growing up I had an image in my head of a wedding very similar to Annie's!
I grew up seeing Princess Diana's wedding. Can you imagine how any of us thought we could never come close? Everyone adored her gown back then. I must say my hubby & I loved both Father of the Bride movies. Martin, Short, and B.D. Wong were hilarious!!!! 🤣😆😂😊
And that is precisely why I walked out less than a third of the way through the movie. Hated that it was sending that message, no matter how funny everybody else thought it was.

Chloe & Bowen on point! And the Frahhhnk accent will always be okay. LOL. 🥰 Love Martin Short. Also, did backflips at the Kieran Culkin cameo. How freaking fun!
"...so did we. And so did HE!" I can actually believe this is true. Like SNL calls up Kieran to ask if he wants to be in this sketch and his actual response was "ohhh yeah, I was in that wasn't I!"
That's why it sucks that the planned Mother's Day episode from season 48 that Kieran Culkin was supposed to host got canceled because of the WGA strike.
I remember watching this for the first time. It cracked me up. I've been watching "Father of the Bride" pretty much all of my life so it's very dear to my heart. I loved it all. And the Selena Gomez cameo was icing on the cake. I love "Only Murders in the Building".
