Great review and what a great starter set for folks coming into the hobby. Stack cars with a nice looking diesel give this a great modern look. The female engineer and the road name and number specific crew talk are spot on one of the best things here. My only criticism would be a better sampling for the horn on this model.
Thanks for watching! I agree with you on the horn, it's a nice K5LA recording but the compression to Railsounds RC kills it. My LC + 726 struggles with the garbled 765 whistle, but it gets the job done for what it is. Hopefully they can work on better sound capabilities for the chips across the board going forward.
Thank you! Don't count it out just yet, I think demand is a bit squirrely for the set. Staff said I was the first person they had seen buy one since before Christmas, so they might be staying put for a bit and drop price as a result.
Okay. It's official. I'm gonna be looking to add one of these units to my O scale roster. This thing rivals my MTH Imperial GEVO Demo 2010 in every way.
A lot of people are complaining about these sets. There is a gear problem in the engine and Lionel has the part back ordered. Go over to Amazon and read the reviews for tier 4 train set before you think of buying one. One guy sent his locomotive back 3 times. I know what Lionel is trying to do but you get what you pay for.
The bubble on the operator cab roof isn't the ACHU it's an antenna array, should actually be white, as should the PTC antenna rails. The ACHU is under the conductor you can see it's exhaust vents depicted correctly. I agree on the smoke feature missing.. But it would be kinda mixed signal having smoke on an emissions critical locomotive that doesn't smoke🤷🏻♂️
Yo i just realized they took the crew talk from the ge in the wild TH-cam series when they went over the real 2015 they used the hostess of the show for this crew talk sound set
That is really cool how one can run the locomotive with their phone like the Digitraxx in HO Scale! Did Lionel really equip the tier 4s with smoke? lol
Bluetooth chips on engines will be the way to go, it's a bit better than the Digitrax/Withrottle setup since you don't need a separate system or wifi router. As soon as engine gets juice, you can run it. This T4 didn't have smoke, but a scale one likely will have it.
There was a limited run on a Legacy 2010 this year, I believe Nassau Hobby Center released. Easier route than repainting, unless you have the Lionchief 2.0 CSX
@@SCL3618 Ive got the Legacy version of it but i dont think the new 2010s have the battery lights and i dont like the csx paint they used on #3010 so why not ill have to find a spare shell so i can send it up to some one unless they have spare shells of the 2010s they made
@@Mcnibbus Nice! Nah the latest lacks the charging lights. You could definently get away with it, but I've got a feeling we might see a scale ET44 soon, so you're not stuck with the livery on an ES shell/chassis.
It might be able to do that with lightweight cars, but I don't have a proper layout to test pulling capacity with. Engine isn't absurdly heavy compared to other products in the lineup.
@@SCL3618 what would you suggest I look into? I want Bluetooth diesel that can handle a 36 curve. I currently have the New York central steam set but have been expanding
@@jefferychambrovichjr6681 Per the current bluetooth line, I would check into the SD60M or one of these ET44's. They may have beefed up the weight in the LC 2.0 ET's compared to the starter set release.
Everything looks nice except for the tracks bcos it got another rail in the middle, that's make me to think a few times to purchase them, it looks weird, TBH.....
I’ve been running this set for a month now, I’ve found that it’s started to stall and turn off when I give it throttle. I think I saw smoke when running it today as well, so I came to TH-cam to see if anyone else had these issues?
I don't have a permanent layout to run it on sadly, but the engine was run a good bit for a few days after filming. Will be taking it to a larger local layout soon and see how it does with some proper consists at speed.

Very nice set! I wish I could but it but it’s to expensive. Also congrats on 13k!!

Oh ok
And your welcome

I would welcome the plastic vs foam packaging any day !
It was a nice change! Much lighter set box and easier to put away.
So far the lion chief sets are a ok fixing to get my 6th.

They sure did, and it's completely false. But I like the adaption, actual outbound crew comm is much to crude for family
I agree
9/10
How much would this cost in $/£ 🤔

@@SCL3618 They have it on the sold-separately Tier 4s. Can't wait to see the first O Scale full-scale Tier 4 GEVO!
I might just repaint my CSX 3010 into GE 2010 and keep a look out for GE 2015 so i could lash up the 2

@@SCL3618 what do you have under your tree. Interested in ordering that setup for my tree

Not that bad in person. 3 rail is part of the O gauge charm, honestly isn't that annoying once you get to running or end up on a larger layout.
Are the car frames made from polyethelene?
All of the carbodies are plastic, they still track well despite not being heavier.
Does the eot flash on the back of the train?
The EOT is sadly non operable, just a plastic piece on rear.

Might be time to contact Lionel and send it in. Mine hasn't been a constant runner, but has done alright the times I've had it out.
ET44AH?
Correct!
ET44AC, AH is actually a marine application designation, there are no non-heavy haul T4T's in rail
Are the train and car big.
It's O gauge, so definently on the bigger side compared to others

Is a nice train
