@Fireglo I disagree. There's no black or white situation with regards to outcomes of severe brain injuries. Richard Hammond for example nearly died in the crash he had in the jet powered dragster named "Vampire", yet survived with only memory loss and (strangely) a change in taste (he said he a certain type of vegetable that he didn't like before the accident), yet Jules didn't survive. What's certain though is that getting the patient to hospital as quickly as possible is imperative. Richard Hammond was transported by Yorkshire Air Ambulance Leeds General Infirmary, the speed of his arrival contributed to his survival. The fact that, in contrast to standard safety practice, where sessions wouldn't take place (as already mentioned, where if the medical helicopter cannot fly, sessions cannot take place), the race was allowed to go ahead in an area affected by the outer edges of Typhoon Phan Phon that meant the medical helicopter could not fly. The resulting transportation to hospital by road would have cost precious time, contributing to Jules' ultimately losing his life. If the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix, for example, is a legacy of Jules' accident, so be it
Yeah as the other guy said. I do not think so. I mean he was in a coma for a year and I do not think that the bigger hospital would have been able to do anything even right after the crash. He simply had too major brain damage.
The kind of brain injury he sustained is not something that any amount of time would have helped or changed unfortunately. He really was essentially dead the moment it happened
They didn't take him in helicopter because the kind of brain injury he sustained could get worse with the changes of pressure of the helicopter flight.
