In this guide, you'll find info for talent builds and rotations in both ST and AoE!

*What is spell queuing?*
The Spell Queue Window is the time in milliseconds in which you're allowed to tell WoW's servers about the next spell you want to cast before your current cast is finished. This defaults to 400 milliseconds. When we want to spellqueue Arcane Barrage into Arcane Blast, we spam click Arcane Barrage when our Arcane Blast cast is ~70% complete.
*Why shouldn't I spellqueue in AoE?*
The reason we don't want to spellqueue in AoE has to do with how Radiant Spark and Harmonic Echo buff spells. Radiant Spark buffs spells when you cast them, but Harmonic Echo only buffs spells when they land on your target.
When you spellqueue Arcane Surge and Arcane Barrage together, both are cast at the same time and thus both benefit from Radiant Spark's bonus damage. However, due to Arcane Surge having no travel time it lands on your target first thus getting buffed by Harmonic Echo. In multitarget scenarios, it is more worth for Arcane Barrage to benefit from Harmonic Echo over Arcane Surge (due to Arcing Cleave + Resonance talents), so we remove the spellqueue.

People can make fun of me if they want, but I've played a good majority of all the dps specs available throughout the years and Arcane mage has got to be THE most difficult/confusing and unintuitive spec there is for optimizing; at least if you're brand new to the spec and never played it before. A bit overwhelming, but I'll get it if I just put my mind to it. Anyway, good guide, thanks for putting the time in to help the community.
Yep. 29 step opener. Meanwhile Destruction warlock is 7 steps, and extremely basic at that. Fire mage is nearly as crazy as Arcane. Why Blizzard insists on making some specs so complicated is beyond me. I've played WoW for 17 years and pushed CE multiple expansions.. but trying to learn Arcane is headache inducing. Especially while also trying to execute the 42 mechanics going on.
This is my 3rd day of playing WoW EVER. And I went Arcane Mage cuz it sound cool and is fun ! I haven’t regret it!:D

Trying to learn arcane mage so im leveling a new one to get the spells down 1 at a time. Watching this video to see if I can get an idea of what to look out for, and having never played mage, this sounds incredibly hard.
Arcane is the only spec in the game where you actually have to study the 'magic' outside the game just like a mage would in lore. It's kinda neat, whether that's what blizz was going for or not.

This is why there are more frost mages... Fire/Arcane are becoming more and more complex or weird over time

Question: How do you handle target swapping? What if a mechanic makes your target unattackable before you finish the burn phase, for example? Do you continue with your burn rotation on another target or do you just go straight to filler until mini burn?
I loved to play Arcane before rework and I learned almost everything from you, but the change in our damage made me return to Priest... So disappointing to see our burst not spiking as high anymore. Thanks for the video!

Arcane hitting the highest dps right now, Fire has the best burst but Arcane has the steady stream, so fire and arcane are the top dps as of 10.1.5.@@marcohinge519

Can anyone explain to me why all builds are speccing into fire spells in the base mage tree? Dragon breath f.e. Is cc so needed for m+ or what?
Yes it’s used as an AOE stop and you’re close to the mobs anyway because of arcane explosion
Hello, please can You explain how to benefit form fishing for clearcastin before pull? You didnt mentioned it in video and I kinda can not time it correctly since it is only 10s buff of nether precision.
At first I thought it was to trigger Nether Precision during the spark phase but he didn't trigger it this way, so I'm a little confuse too

What about the stats priority? I've been using around 30% crit, 18% haste, 44% mast and 7% versa. You got a lot less crit and mastery which goes into haste... Is that the optimal? Does it change for ST and AoE scenarios?
Curently massive boosting into tempo to get spells out faster, especially stuff like arance explosion profits heavily from it or arcane barrage- Mastery is still #1 prio

so full opener, we cast the RS, NT, AS into Barrage then Touch, cast 3 AB so sparks at 4 stacks do we then cast a AB+Barrage? or Just cast a 4th AB?
At the 4th stack you would do a 4th AB then enter the filler rotation of 1 Clearcasted Missiles > 2 Arcane Blasts > repeat.
So at 4 stacks if you have a Clearcasting proc you'd do AB+Missiles > AB > AB. If you don't have Clearcasting it would just be AB spam until you get a proc.

I get that we dont want to use arcane missiles to generate a nether precision when we have radiant spark stacks on because the missiles would consume the stacks, but isnt there a way to get nether precision on the arcane blasts that were casting to consume the spark stacks with the damage buff? it feels so weird that we just have unbuffed arcane blasts going into the radiant spark stacks

How can i check damage paterns for other classes?
Let's be real. The rotation is hard but on the other hand makes sence to me. It needs to spend time on traing dummies, yes but I started with mini rotation to get into it. I won't need full rotation in low keys anyways. After few tries I think I get it. The Surge combo is almost the same but with different spell order, right. The filler also maked sence to me if you read all spells and passives correctly. Yeah, I was able to learn enha shaman to top dps metters in m+ last season with elementalist build so arcane doesn't look so bad😂
I really feel like this spec gets more convoluted with lower quality of life with every passing expansion.

Whats the point to have a clearcasting pré pull since we doesn't use it before surge. You ll get enough Clearcasting during your burn no need go have more

Yep it would be in the filler stage after your mini burn is over.
I didn't understand why we shouldn't spellqueuing in Aoe ?
The rotation doesn't change, we still have to Arcane Surge then Arcane Barrage (before Totm). And you said Arcane Surge hits first due to the fact it doesn't have a travel time. But if we are not spellqueuing Arcane Surge with Arcane Barrage, then Arcane Surge hits first anyway, right? I mean, in my head, in both situation, Arcane Surge hit first, so that's why I don't understand why we are not spellqueuing ? Can someone explain that to me please? (still new on arcane mage, though

What's the point of the harmonic echo on the build for single target dude? isn't is for AoE damage primarily?
Harmonic Echo still applies it's damage to your primary target (in addition to 4 nearby targets). If you were to untalent that in ST you'd lose a bit over 3k dps.
I kinda miss Arcane Harmony big crits.

This is why people are leaving the game, this convoluted bloated gameplay is just stupid, WoW needs to be gutted and simplified across all levels. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to learn that classic has more players, because nobody but the top 2% of meta-gamers actually enjoys this crap.
What do u think about substats?
Mine are 34 crit - 15 haste - 31 - mastery - 12 vers, is it fine? What should i balance more? (i use to sim a lot but i need another point of view)
Chasing specific stats isn't really a thing anymore - the best answer I can give you is to just sim as many combinations of Top Gear on Raidbots that you can as it will be slightly different from character to character.

@@PhosphorosWoWIdk I do follow rotation with my fire mage to amplify my damage yet I do less damage than anyone in the team. I think stats really change the damage, does it?
