Are you on Intel or Apple Silicon for your music production?

PC user with a pretty huge setup mainly because I do gaming and video editing and color grading. So I'm with intel and it work great. However, I would love to try a AMD CPU to see if it's an improvement.

I've been on Apple Silicon for 2 years now, coming from Windows so the transferring was no joke neither. On missing plugins: I've lost some as well after switching off Rosetta. Using the AU versions of those plugins solved the problem.

I have a Mac mini m1 with 8gb of ram and 512 of ssd storage that I purchased back in the beginning of 2021. At first I did encounter the plugin compatibility issue, but months later everything got updated and now Im a happy camper. Everything runs smooth, I have a lot of DAWS ( all of them work without the need of Rosetta ) I also have a lot of vst instruments and vst mixing plugins and all of them work great. Also I find myself amazed with how powerful this little machine is with only 8gb or ram. All of my projects are running at 24 or 32bitfloat/ 48khz and the buffer size always stays at 128 and I haven't had any issues whatsoever. I love this thing, I don't think I would ever go back to Windows for music production after this.

Yea I’m not quite sure what happened in my case. At this point I expected to not need Rosetta but it’s no big deal. And yea man these machines run super efficient. Minor setbacks aside I’m really happy with my purchase.

Check out if the plugins you use are compatible with M1 because it have been almost 3 years from the beginning of the shift. In my case I have studio one and almost all the big companies have Native version of his plugins. I’m that case you can also open the UA version of it in studio one an Tun very smoothly in my opinion. (Better than in Rossetta mode)

See I’m with you in that I expected all plugins to run native by now. Idk what happened in my case I’ll keep running Rosetta in the meantime.
