      Yeah most inner-city communities are getting busier because of the new infills now

    I am from Vancouver. Sounds like Calgary doesn't have a lot of rebiuilts / in fills (tear down and construct ) in older neighborhoods? This is very common in Vancouver. Is that right? Is there a reason why ppl don't do that as often?

      Hi Danny! We actually do have a lot of infills here in Calgary, and the majority of them are built-in older neighborhoods in the inner city.
      Altadore is an example of an older inner-city community that is almost like a new neighborhood because of all the development.
      Many started building in the 2000s and infills have been taking off since! Are you thinking about building here for yourself?

    Concerned about having dogs and noise complaints/having a movie theatre system downstairs. How sound proof is that party wall?

    • @matthewtse8999

      Downstairs... Meaning the basement

      @@matthewtse8999 Great question Matthew! The party wall in the foundation is made of concrete and it depends on how well the home is built, if the builder went above and beyond code for sound protection. If you want to see what the actual party wall looks like above the foundation, go to 4:15 of this video - th-cam.com/video/uq7jzL-foek/w-d-xo.html
      I have clients who puts on music and movies on loud and had never had the neighbours complain. Obviously having a pounding subwoofer would be a different story though lol

    While I live in YEG, our homes are very similar in size and you need to check your privilege if you really think that most home sizes are in the 1600 plus range, yikes! Someone too scared to go in the old neighbourhoods eh? haha

    Do you not think that the tall and boxy houses that "break" the rules of basic design will age far more quickly as most people don't like them at first sight? There were examples in the background of this video that showed infill that suits the neighborhood without appearing like stone and steel giants next to the original/simple architecture. This isn't only opinion, as our eyes and mind immediately distrust asymmetry and these modernist styles will quickly become yesterdays leftovers and look outdated.

    • @LiveInnerCity
      @LiveInnerCity  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea I hear what you're saying and to a certain extent, agree with you. There are however other elements to consider such as cost of build, the interior finishings and the location. Also, when many houses have the same design, there is a congruent look to them so having a box home is no longer weird, it's the norm
