    This is a great combo. Megadap adapter really takes lens collection to the next level - I had a chance to try it out on a new Sigma 20mm f1.4 DG DN lens. AF / EYE AF works flawlessly. Also one of the lenses where this adapter comes handy is Sony 14mm GM lens, which is of course the best 14mm lens for astro on the market and with all the announcments of a new lenses, which are more or less for E mount, this adapter is a great investment.

      Yes I agree that the Sony 14mm f1.8 would be the ideal companion using this adapter.

    Thank you for your valuable inputs, which confirm my findings. I use this adapter for some time now, also mainly for Milky Way photography. For me too, it works flawlessly. My concern was that the corners of the images may suffer from degradation e.g. astigmatism, but I have found no such issues. The only flaw I found was that lens distortions are not corrected in JPEG, but that is of no concern for what we are doing here, and is easily corrected for in Photoshop anyway.

    In a similar fashion I used Nikon F and Pentax adapters on my Canon EF cameras - very thin adapters like your Sony E to Nikon Z. What started out as a convenience of being able to buy multiple lens types (manual only), eventually led to me having a decent stable of Nikon lenses, and subsequently converting to Nikon. I found all too frequently that the Nikon version of many third party lenses were substantially less expensive than the Canon versions, which is why I built up a collection of Nikon lenses.

    • @nightscapeimages.richard
      @nightscapeimages.richard  ปีที่แล้ว

      My favourite focal length is 20mm. I feel this is a great balance between detail and wide enough to fit a lot in. I do have a 14-24 lens but I use it more for timelapse than anything else. I have shot aurora with all of these lenses. I think if you were in a location with massive aurora such as Iceland or Norway you would benefit from a wider focal length.

    I really don’t understand why you have the Sony when you have an unmod Z6II that is at least equal to the Sony for video. Wouldn’t it have made more sense to buy a second Z6/Z6II? And a second 20mm S? Really don’t understand splitting systems, even if to get 1/2 stop…

      You obviously haven't shot the two cameras side by side at iso64,000 ... The Sony absolutely kills the Nikon .. or anything else at high iso's in complete darkness . .Just have a look at some of my in the field videos for some samples.

      @@nightscapeimages.richard I think what’s obvious is how condescending your response is. However, let me respond by saying I have actually compared them, in fact all of the higher end Sony cameras and the better Canons and found the Nikon easily outperforms them inferior in low light, at high ISO and/or AF in low light. In fact, this is exactly what Matt Granger (amongst others) found with the new Sony. So, I guess it’s not so obvious…

      @@grossieone3683 Sorry if I sounded condescending .. not my intention at all. However the A7s3 is in a league of it's own compared to other Sony cameras in this regard. I'm talking about video specifically here.

    seeing more and more satellites and planes on timelaps and photos is quite annoying to me.
    Would love to see just the stars moving

      Yes I very much agree with you about that. The timelapse in this video is full of satellites. Appreciate you watching.
