I’m not a big Doctor Who fan but back in 2005 it was hard not to get swept up in the excitement. I found these recordings today. I forgot I had them in my pile of home-recorded DVDs. The quality of each is variable, but not bad.
Love stuff like this, I watched it as it aired but I was 7, had no idea that "A New Dimenson" section even existed so kind of crazy to hear David Tenant narrate it
Oh a lil Scrooge McQuack, Purple Man from Five Nights at Jessica's, the audiobooks to Teach a Fiery Reptile Tutorial, and played Professor 10 and Professor 14 on Professor WHOward.
Think Christopher already left the show when the first episode aired, and I think David was already cast and possibly even filming the second season by this point. Might be wrong slightly
@@brandonallanfinn9526David Tennant was announced about three weeks after Series 1 had started, and I think Eccleston left a few days after Series 1 had started - But no doubt Russell was already talking to David about taking over the role since they had recently worked together on Casanova.
Having seen The Star Beast tonight THUS was better timed ....my hype used to be so high ... Nowadays my love for it can't get reignited sadly ...Eccleston was my first doctor ...Smith, Capaldi Whittaker Pertwee McCoy are my faves too. I miss feeling this hyped about it
The build up to this must've been MASSIVE! I wasn't a fan back then so I can't remember it but I can only imagine the hype, I don't think anything will ever match the excitement for this revival!
Thing is there really wasn't much excitement beyond the few dedicated Who fans left. BBC put a lot of effort in but this was a series that had been dead for 16 years and poorly before that. But it caught fire pretty quick!
15 year old me was so hyped for this back in the day, absolutely loved the 9th doctor Now 33 year old me is ready for the 2nd RTD era tonight. LET’S GO

Thankyou so much, this is some fantastic TV history :D
What a week to find them too
thank you very much for sharing :)
The fact David narrated A New Dimenson, then became the Doctor is ironic
Might have been how he ended up on their radar, gotta network :)
I'm not sure and I don't want to misinform but I believe since Christopher left the show so early, David had already been cast as the new Doctor
This was after he'd already filmed his first scene, he just hadn't been announced.
@@cameronpearce5943 He already did a project with RTD that year, Cassanova
@@imkevindalhe left after episode one?
0:21 The fact that Nine didn’t finish that with “it’s gonna be fantastic” is devastating.
I was ten when it came out, and now I’m 30. Crazy how time flies.
My daughter was born two months before, now she is 18. Mad.

I remember seeing this. My daddy was so excited. I’m gonna give him a call and see if he wants to watch it tonight.
CALL your Dad! He won't want to miss the 60th tonight! I encourage you, do it!
@@patriciaramsey5294 on my way to him now. Haven’t seen him in months. He’s very happy 🙂
Do it all must see it!
Did you see it with him?
Good timing to release this given the show is about to come back a 2nd time
That’s the reason I checked my recordings. When I saw I’d got these I just had to get them uploaded by Saturday.
A second time? The show has not been cancelled so it can't come back a second time.
But the timing is perfect since a new era is about to start.
Never been one for Billie Piper but she does look super fine in that promo at 2:09.
Thank you so much for sharing this, I was only 12 and I loved the build up to the first episode, this gave me chills
That’s great 😀
I remember those Doctor Who promos with Nine & Rose on the SciFi Channel in the states way back when. Good memories.
Nice to hear that lovely David Tennant, wonder what he’s up to now?
Oh a lil Scrooge McQuack, Purple Man from Five Nights at Jessica's, the audiobooks to Teach a Fiery Reptile Tutorial, and played Professor 10 and Professor 14 on Professor WHOward.
these are amazing as someone who owns these on vhs glad to see theres a better version
David Tennant narrating the new dimension thing?
How strange

@@DeathlygunnThat must have felt so weird knowing there was already another on the way lol
My dad was prolly sat there as a happy 36 year old ready for the new era
Didn't realise the orange logo was used at the end of episodes in these early ones

Masterful hype :)
It got me in a frenzy just watching it back, and I’m not even a DW fan.
The first promo looks like really good cinematography wise, why didn't they use that camera in the actual show
There is a reason for that and they opted to not film in HD due to it making the special effects easier to realise!
today is the day 😭
Only a few hours to go 😭 What a time to be a Whovian 🥺

I’m excited for today. Disney Plus needs to put it out like now.
Ten minutes.
Epic please do one for 2006,2006,2007 and 2009
And now look at the state of it. RIP
Better times.
This was a time when RTD wasn't a dick
No really.
The same “long in the tooth” type fans hated him then too. It wasn’t “woke” they were so scared of then though, it was just the gays.
