I had been looking for non-professional Jai Alai footage to see what the game would be like for someone starting out. I've played handball (pelota mano) for 11 years and I think this would be very fun to try. Very similar games.
Jai-Alai is a derivative of basque handball pelota mano which is why the rules are so similar. For someone starting out it is very tricky because the throw is unlike any other sport. The right elbow must be kept straight and the wrist loose and relaxed. If it is thrown like a baseball pitch with a bent elbow it will go right to the floor. I've been planning on creating tutorial videos for how someone wanting to start out can learn the basics of finding a decent cesta and how to practice. Racquetball courts are very accessible and are a great place to safely learn with a tennis ball and then move up to a hard plastic ball. You should give it a try! It is a fun and rewarding sport that definitely catches people's attention. It just isn't as accessible as other sports but a racquetball court is a great alternative
There's amateur facilities in Miami, Connecticut, and a public court in Tampa. Also on the west coast they have a fronton in San Francisco and a few canchas at Basque cultural centers around California.
@@mrwp819300 Yeah. The casino frontons like Dania and Miami stopped allowing amateurs because it's a legal liability if someone got hurt and sued the casinos
Thank you Jai Alai for this upload
Thank you for uploading
