@skatepunkzero I drove a 1320 Challenger and it had the same independent rear end but did have an air locker for the diff. I ran a few passes on it at Moroso Drag Strip on a hot day and it did wheel hop a bit but was so dang fun!
Really enjoyed the review, this guy doesn't try to be Jeremy Clarkson like every other car reviewer seems to do, he was to the point, interesting, and knows what he's doing. Well done. I'm subscribing.
Awesome Street Muscle car! The 392 is menacing, and is still competitive at the dragstrip and the street. But, as you said, the Challenger was not designed for autocross, they are dragracers. Plenty of streetable power at that trim level, FYI, the new Scat Packs have more HP.
I have a huge soft spot for this car. I like the Camaro and Mustang is more competitive but I usually come back to this one cause I think its a true muscle car. And that HEMI sound is so intoxicating.
@JTC31290 For all around use and most comfortable...Challenger no doubt about it. Next month I'll do a road test on a brand new Hurst Camaro and show the differences...Stay tuned and thanks for watching, seriously.
This car is amazing i drove my dads and i have never driven anything like it. What i like the most are the thumbs up people throw at you from there front yards and sidewalks it gets so much attention. One guy ran off his porch to see it coming down his road ,tripped fell to his knees and still gave my dad the thumbs up.Now that is one hardcore mopar guy.
I also subbed to this new guy reviewer 'coz I love how he reviews his cars and he seems to know the points of force of these Muscle cars, Im a fan of GM AND FORD MODELS, pratically all models of these car most moderns and olders. This new 392 Challenger has its points of force and once again i agree with the guy. I'D BUY A MUSCLE CAR SOMEDAY... I might save so much money to afford one, and the guys like him are the ones who can let us choose what car...... THK U! ;)
I had an oppertunity to drive one today and let me tell all of you!! This 6.4 392 has got it!! I was impressed to the fact that i went to the dealership and looked at one. To bad it was just out of my price range.....But i took it on the highway and at 75 in 6th gear i was doing about 1500 RPMs dropped gears a lil and got to 3rd and did a quick pull in 3rd gear OMG i was in the triple digits in nothing flat. I wish i could get one. Salesman tried talking me into the 2010 SRT one i might take it
This is the perfect american muscle car. Its the most traditional looking, sounding and the 392 hemi is at least trying to do retro better than the others combined. Its a genuine 4 seater also. Whats not to like? Shift kit the tremec and chip that motor, and pow! just perfect.
@9DTS9 I would love to wheel a new GT-R! I've been interested in those cars for a while now...It'll take a few million more views here before I can convince someone to let me borrow theirs! Thanks for watchin!
I shall subscribe to your channel. I like your vids. I love the cars. I definitely like the range of cars you drive. I can really tell you just totally love to drive cars. So do I, and I am really jealous of the level of cars you have driven.
I was planning a new 5.0 w/3.73's but I've been reading of transmission problems with them (the Chinese built 6-speed manual). I never had a problem with the Challenger, just it's bulk. I know that even with 470HP it's "only" comparable to Camaro and Mustang but I've been considering it instead of Mustang. This is a great road test and I like the style of delivery. I think you might have made up my mind for me, sir!
@bestofsevenrules I didn't complain about the pistol grip...I even said that part was awesome...it's the vague feel of this shift pattern and the fact that even in gear there's a couple inches of wiggle in the shifter. Not acceptable at all in a performance car!!!
Have you tested the new SRT or GTS Viper yet? There, all the fun and scare you could ever want. But now as the challenger, hmmmmm I don't know if I would rather have an R/T or the step up package like what you are driving. I hear the SRT Charger is a blast to drive as well.
In a way I like the fact that the Challenger is a heavy car. It means less interferance by wind as you're driving down the highway, or get passed by a big rig. That was a plus in my opinion, but now that Dodge did something about the power, it's definately a possibility I may trade my truck in to get one lol
@spartin878 I always turn that stuff off first thing! I like to feel exactly what the car has to offer with no interruptions from the computer. This car was just that stable. The only small thing that was slightly frustrating was some wheel hop during hard launches but I would gladly deal with that for the overall great package.
I visited the Ford site last night and did a spec and price on a GT500. I put in everything that was in a 392 IE at my local dealer, it is priced at $55 and change. The Ford came in at $69 and change. It's is a no brainer for me $14 K less with a back seat and a usable trunk and very comparable performance. Up here in Canada the 392 is a lot of bang for the buck.
@lokichaos2 This is such a good car. The shifter complaint was an honest call out and really my only gripe. I had this car for a few days and overall was amazing...during my commute to work I was getting almost 20 MPG which blew me away.
For a car that will truly get its ass kicked by the Camaro and Mustang, I am surprisingly drawn to this car. If you would spend money on a Challenger, get the 392.
I drove my buddies IE the other day & man, that thing is soooooo sah-weeeet! I didn't mind the shifter, but I understand your concerns. the looks & handling are unmatched by Phord or Chebbie's pony cars!
What year GTO do you have? I had two friends that had GTOs one was a 64 convertable red with an automatic and a 400 motor the other was a green hardtop with a 4-speed and a 389 that would burn rubber all the way down the street! I like GTOs they are great cars !
yea but I am getting old-56 and by the time it will be worth anything my grandson will be driving it. It sucks getting old because now I have money but I dont have the energy! Have fun with your GTO!
I ran up alongside a one with the Copper & Black stripes colour combo heading nrth on Alaska hwy. Nice looking car! It sounded really sweet when he pulled away from me at 100mph. All I have is a 305 TPI but I actually kept up better than I thought I would. 1000lbs lighter might have something to do with it..
@vanquishman Yup! If you had the keys for a few days you would too! I still can't believe how good this car is...Home-run for Dodge! (and I tend to like the Mustangs, don't tell anyone)
Did you try it in the rain? it's a bit of a *eek!* lol and I need to replace the gearshift your right. but I have to admit.. that thing just "dances" in the corners even all that weight. lol
I love my challenger but would love to buy an old classic lie a 66 chevelle ss or a 64 vette but its great to dream! Wells fargo owns me! have fun with the GTO It sounds like you have done a lot to your car!
I do so love my 2010 Challenger srt8. The only thing that would make me want to get rid of it is a 392 version. I'm hearing some interesting rumors about the 2012 line that just might make me trade it in for one. I'm torn as to if I want those rumors to be true or not.
@CoolLikePenguinNuts i agree with you a 100%.....but me personally i like the fact that it weighs what it does.....in my opinion it just makes the car a little bit more safer to drive... god forbid you get in a crash.... you'll be lucky to have that weight to back you up.
@BandCShow11dy6 i live in florida as well and most of the roads here are crappy as i can tell even will all the tolls they get to keep them in shape. but im here there is a way to get a straight axel for it. i know the car is a good drag racer but i dont know at what extreme you are drag racing. the engine is a built race motor so you can get a lot more out of it if you wanted as well
What I find funny is how the Mustang fans think they're so superior. What's even funnier is that the Mustang is supercharged and turbo-ed. The Challenger Hemi engine is pure muscle, right how they built it. Should Dodge start supercharging, well shit, they'll blow the Mustang away.
I personally like the sound of the regular ones more than hellcats. They sound like some kind of sports car from mars or something. I'd rather have my heavy muscle sound.
@CoolLikePenguinNuts well i dont see how its going to get lighter unlees it gets fiberglass or carbon fiber body parts this car is heavy and bulky and you can always put the stuff back in once your done trying to go fast i have one and its not built with lightness in mide you would have to completely rebuild the body to get it any lighter
I test drove the camaro ss and tried to buy a camaro ZL-1 but the price was to high and I even ordered one but but it came in as an automatic and I ordered a 6-speed. THE CHALLENGER IS MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE! If I was younger I would get the camaro ZL-1 as I liked the looks better. My challenger is a SRT with a 6 -speed and red with black stripes. When I was 19 I bought a 69 camaro in mint condition in 1975 but all it had was a 307 and was a automatic so it was not very fast but it was dependable
The only thing is that people wont probably drive this car in canyon roads, they will be driving it on the streets so, the suspension can be good but not critical, the pot holes in roads wont match up to the bumps on that road he was on.
I got to see one just like this today, I didn't think I would like the white with blue but it is awesome. I want one so bad my teeth hurt every time I see one and that is no small feet, I got false teeth. LOL
@healthyamerican Sorry, let me clarify: I'd rather have the Boss 302 over the Shelby GT500. You're correct that the Challenger is in a class by itself, and I'm a total Mopar guy... LOVE the Challenger. I just wish it were lighter and less expensive, because when I buy a new car, I will base it partly on price, and I think a 392 Challenger will be a bit out of reach.
@swalte6325 then why does the side and interior have 392 written all over the place, and i have one, trust me he is driving a 392, and the shift isnt that bad he is just weak... atleast in my opinion, the power is crazy, being a 05 gt mustang owner, the power is terrifying at first.
@SLaYD666 personally I disagree. I enjoy the GPS. It has helped me out signicantly. As for the Carbon-Fiber I do not know If I would be confortable with that material for protection. However I must add I do not know if it would be safer than metal. I would welcome education in that area.
@SOFSoldier1: Forget the Shelby Super snake kit. And just put 8k worth of mods in it on your own and you will be right at 1000HP. Or forget that too and just buy the new boss 302 LS for around 40k and is faster around a track than the GT500 and the new Challenger.
@skatepunkzero I drove a 1320 Challenger and it had the same independent rear end but did have an air locker for the diff. I ran a few passes on it at Moroso Drag Strip on a hot day and it did wheel hop a bit but was so dang fun!

Thank you for a good honest interpetation of this vehicle!
i loved this video it makes me feel good to know that the challenger has goten that much better...... i want one so bad!
I also subbed to this new guy reviewer 'coz I love how he reviews his cars and he seems to know the points of force of these Muscle cars, Im a fan of GM AND FORD MODELS, pratically all models of these car most moderns and olders. @Wowmasta21 Wow, what color did you get? Glad to hear you like the car, I did!
@BMan100 I LOVE the Vanishing Point Challengers! Makes me happy just seeing them on the road...Nice pick!
I have no words how to explain how awesome that was
I had an oppertunity to drive one today and let me tell all of you!! This 6.4 392 has got it!! I was impressed to the fact that i went to the dealership and looked at one. Two things:
1: this is the coolest job ever
2: I love the way this guy U-turns
Well done and interesting car review. Love all modern Dodge Challengers!!
i like this man along with his car !.
@bestofsevenrules I didn't complain about the pistol grip...I even said that part was awesome...it's the vague feel of this shift pattern and the fact that even in gear there's a couple inches of wiggle in the shifter. Not acceptable at all in a performance car!!!
2015 challenger Scat Pack 392 @ 485hp then Twin Turbo or Supercharge it.
@autoedit well and the 6spd.. aaaannnnddd the 900 watt 18 speaker stereo... just 3 more weeks left to wait.
hell yea i would love that car room and power hard to find that
Have you tested the new SRT or GTS Viper yet? There, all the fun and scare you could ever want.

awesome!!! please do same test with the toxic orange one

that is my dream car you have a cool srt challenger
please try the 2012 zl1 camaro on your road and rate all three cars from highest to lowest. I would really like to know which one is best.
@vanquishman Yup! If you had the keys for a few days you would too!
I still can't believe how good this car is...Home-run for Dodge!
(and I tend to like the Mustangs, don't tell anyone)
best car in my opinion!
Did you try it in the rain? it's a bit of a *eek!* lol and I need to replace the gearshift your right. but I have to admit.. that thing just "dances" in the corners even all that weight. lol
@skatepunkzero all the factory ST8's are not straight axel thats why it can corner so good.
I love my challenger but would love to buy an old classic lie a 66 chevelle ss or a 64 vette but its great to dream! Wells fargo owns me! have fun with the GTO It sounds like you have done a lot to your car!
u love ur job i bet
what's the gas mileage?
less than the 2010 viper (which strangely enough has better fuel economy than the EVO X)?
I'm very surprised to hear it get a good review. I have always been a fan of Dodge but historically they get bad reviews. I like it.
I do so love my 2010 Challenger srt8. The only thing that would make me want to get rid of it is a 392 version. I'm hearing some interesting rumors about the 2012 line that just might make me trade it in for one. I'm torn as to if I want those rumors to be true or not.
I dream to have this car someday
I am right behind you. 53. You do the same, enjoy your SRT Challenger.
the automatics have cylinder deactivation :( is there any way you can turn it off?
@CoolLikePenguinNuts i agree with you a 100%.....but me personally i like the fact that it weighs what it does.....in my opinion it just makes the car a little bit more safer to drive... god forbid you get in a crash.... you'll be lucky to have that weight to back you up.

Yes, this car was absolutely stock!

swalte6325 well the hellcat and demon came out, sooo
@GMCman82 but there still gonna produce the challenger?
I personally like the sound of the regular ones more than hellcats. They sound like some kind of sports car from mars or something. I'd rather have my heavy muscle sound.
the only problem of the srt8 is its 2 damn heavy im going get one or may try and if i do going make it as light as i can
I want this car, I want it real bad..
u need to do a video of the 2012 Nissan GT-R
@CoolLikePenguinNuts well i dont see how its going to get lighter unlees it gets fiberglass or carbon fiber body parts this car is heavy and bulky and you can always put the stuff back in once your done trying to go fast i have one and its not built with lightness in mide you would have to completely rebuild the body to get it any lighter

For a fright factor turn of the ESP then you can have more fun
2:51 You can hear the BEAST coming. ;D
The only thing is that people wont probably drive this car in canyon roads, they will be driving it on the streets so, the suspension can be good but not critical, the pot holes in roads wont match up to the bumps on that road he was on.
@TheStallion234 great comment i agree and i subscribed as well.
top notch review
Oh and if you tried the 300 SRT ( which was my original choice) you'd be surprised as well. that is a Real Q-car
Gettin me one of those some time soon! :)
I love the shifter in my 392 btw :)
@SLaYD666 Thank you. I appreciate your response :)
like the look like the sound of it just wish it was a bit lighter
Was traction control on or off?
Always off!
Many Thanks! Always off from now on!!!
WHAT THE SRT-8 LACKS IN POWER IT MAKES UP IN COMFORT ESPECIALLY ON BADS ROADS THAT WILL OTHERWISE BEAT YOU UP IN A MUSTANG.
nice... very nice...
I got to see one just like this today, I didn't think I would like the white with blue but it is awesome. I want one so bad my teeth hurt every time I see one and that is no small feet, I got false teeth. LOL
i have the basic challenger and even in that you cant really tell how fast your going because the hood is so long and the car is extra wide
sounds sweet
@EatmyDust1311 raptor? is that the ford truck?
If you got ran over by this car, would you care more about you or the car?
@EatmyDust1311 We want video of the Raptor!
@healthyamerican Sorry, let me clarify: I'd rather have the Boss 302 over the Shelby GT500. You're correct that the Challenger is in a class by itself, and I'm a total Mopar guy... LOVE the Challenger. I just wish it were lighter and less expensive, because when I buy a new car, I will base it partly on price, and I think a 392 Challenger will be a bit out of reach.
good video.
@DetonatorYellow ye kind of...but i like them too they look best...
@swalte6325 then why does the side and interior have 392 written all over the place, and i have one, trust me he is driving a 392, and the shift isnt that bad he is just weak... atleast in my opinion, the power is crazy, being a 05 gt mustang owner, the power is terrifying at first.
Are the 2011 sxt challengers v6 any good?
@SLaYD666 personally I disagree. I enjoy the GPS. It has helped me out signicantly. As for the Carbon-Fiber I do not know If I would be confortable with that material for protection. However I must add I do not know if it would be safer than metal. I would welcome education in that area.
2006. Cam, headers, high flow cats, hp custom tune. cai. Keep your Challenger, as with all mopar muscle cars, they only go up in value.
:35 made me laugh and smile.
@Wowmasta21 nice! what number and color?
My uncle just got a challenger but its not nearly as powerful as this one, But it is still a very nice car.
You should do another review for 2014
Nice car....but still playing catch up to the GT500. But if you are after driving a tank it's a great ride.
I have driven the camaro ss, challenger rt and a mustang gt. I like them all but not as much as my GTO.
stock exhaust??
Did You try The 2011 Dodge Charger Yet ?
@EatmyDust1311 yeah thats what my old man got black with a stick he looked around awhile for it nice car
@SOFSoldier1: Forget the Shelby Super snake kit. And just put 8k worth of mods in it on your own and you will be right at 1000HP. Or forget that too and just buy the new boss 302 LS for around 40k and is faster around a track than the GT500 and the new Challenger.
those tires look bald already.. looks like someones having a lot of fun
I have #276 of 392 (canada) White with blue stripes kick plates and Pistol grip shifter
