- Starting the 2024 season by chisel plowing ground that will be corn. Plowing with a Brillion 9 shank chisel plow pulled by a John Deere 4555. This field will be corn to feed cows on our upstate New York dairy farm. #farming #agriculture #cows #tillage #tractor
I miss working on a farm. Especially tillage. I used to run a JD 4630 back in the 80’s. Best job I ever had!
Its great work indeed. 4630 were good tractors
@@mikep7810 The 4630 was a beast. I mainly ran a disc and packer in tandem. I always enjoyed doing the leveling and field prep for planting. Once in a while I ran an 8630 chisel ploughing. Sometimes moldboard ploughing, depending on field conditions. This was in Michigan. And we used a 4240 for planting. That was the boss mans job, or his son. And we ran a MF 740’combine with steel tracks.
There's something really satisfying with tillage
Absolutely
Great job Mike
Thank you Craig
Great video Mike
Thank you Paul
Awesome work mike that stuff is turning over very good I would like to hook that to my 1066 and work my fields over
Thank you. Always great to get out there and play in the dirt
Mm i can smell new fresh soild in spring!it's.look realy dry and nice when you chiselplowing, but i prefer to call it cultivate whit the cultivator. And of course you have power who pull the chiselplow!
Gotta love those spring tillage sounds and smells
My favorite time of the year…. Tillage…. I love the smell of fresh worked dirt.. looks good my friend. Keep them coming
Thanks Rick
Nothing like the smell of plowed dirt!!. Nice video
Thank you Dave. It was great to be out there
Oh that smell of fresh dirt in the spring. Mike stick that thing in the ground a little deeper. Tractor doesn't seem to know its back there by the sound anyway.
Its one of the many great smells of spring that's for sure
It's great you can get a jump on your spring tillage great video
Thank you John
My favor time of the year glad to see that you are having a good time.Hopyou and you family all have a good Easter.
Thank you James. Hope you had a good Easter too
I liked the action shot of the shanks working.
Thank you. Always cool to see the machine working
Another great vid! We got 4 inches of snow last night, everything is on hold again! Keep the deere's running
Thanks Gene. Hopefully the snow doesn't last long
Hello everyone good vidéo and great jobs mike
with a childhood friend and farmer we finally managed to buy our 2 favorite tractors the steiger wildcat in v8 3408 caterpillard and the jd 8530 which I love and both import from the US they are old American tractors as I like them with real engine that screams now that tows as I like, long live the American power no need to have a 300 hp on our chisel plow the steiger wildcat engine 3408 caterpillar tows it without difficulty
Thank you. Sounds like some really nice tractors
Love the video, Mike, it’s got me itching to get out in the field. I love Spring field work.
Thank you Rich. Hopefully you get out inbthe field soon
Hi Mike, p. You have a nice jhon Deer tracker and have nice cows and calefs. Good job in the field🚜🚜👍
Thank you Amanda
You are welcome mike p
Definitely sure sign of spring 👍🏾 hope you had a happy Easter Mike?
Thank you Clint. Hope you had a good Easter too
@@mikep7810 I sure did !
Looks great Mike it has to feel good to start spring field work. Thank you
Thanks Paul. Definitely great to be back out in the field
Awesome you can get started working up your ground. Down here in southeastern PA we would need at least a full week of wind and sun. A lot of clay in my area and we've had a ton of rain the past month! Great Video 👍😎
Thanks Dennis. Hopefully you will be in the fields soon
She’s pulling good man! Love to see it! We have a 4555 on our farm too, it’s our big tractor. Does all the tillage and runs the grain kart. Good luck with your tillage and year ahead
Thank you. Sounds like everything our 4555 does
You’re lucky to have such nice ground down there! My wife and father in law have been plowing at the Cazenovia farm for a couple of weeks, but our farm in Skaneateles, it will be at least three more weeks! Keep up the great work, love that 4555!
Thank you John. Its a great tractor
Getting excited to get back in the field. Still a little bit sticky for us yet in northern Cayuga county. Great video 👍
Thank you Ryan. Hopefully you are in the fields soon
Great to be on it 👍 Did a good job 👏
People are Tring to have a go here but it's still to wet😢
Thank you. Hopefully it dries up for you soon
Great vid.. stay safe 🏴
Thank you Ian
ground looks good and Happy Easter
Thank you Dana, Happy Easter to you too
We got to plowing. Got a 15-ish acres done then wouldn't you know it it snowed 8-10" . Actually pretty normal for Wisconsin in March. Hopefully the rest of your spring tillage goes well!!
Thanks Anthony. I hope your spring goes well too
I'm going to break your heart, Mike: My job has a 6215R hooked up to the disk, just waiting for a cylinder, before we do about the only tillage we will do before planting. Duals are on, and the GPS is set... Honestly, I really like how y'all do what you do, but I would not like the tie stall barn. A parlor was plenty of work for me. 👍👍
Don't worry Morgan. My professional sports teams have been breaking my heart for many years.
Awww ok we put poop on after corn but in Maine we can't put poop on after Dec 1
I see
Every new season has a start date. Today was as good as any
Thank you Scott. Well said
This winter was one day longer than last year. Leap year. When I was farming there were no chisal plows. We had to roll it all over every year.
I still have to hook up the moldboard plow. We turn over the sod ground still
I'm getting anxious myself to get in the field
I bet
You are doing it all wrong! We don’t do that in TN, lol!
It’s good to see something different. Maybe I’ll break out the disk Monday.
Haha give it time Russ. Maybe not in the first one but by the 2nd or 3rd tillage video I'll get told how I'm doing it wrong!
So Mike why don't you chisel plow in the fall after you get do chopping?
I'll get into a more in depth answer in another video but I like to chisel plow after I get the manure applied to the field because the plow does a good job of mixing that manure in. Once we are done chopping in the fall we are jumping right on the combine and getting the soybeans harvested before the snow fall and also have high moisture corn and dry shelled corn to combine. The fields we chop we wont chisel plow because we are planting a cover crop in them also.
You should get a good crop!
Thank you Duane. I hope so
I figure another 3 weeks probably before I start
I was going to text you and see how close you were to getting out in the fields.
🚜🚜😁💪👍
Thanks Carlos
@@mikep7810 greeting from burley Idaho mike
