Excellent video. Grew up on a 240 acre dairy farm in the 1950's and 1960's. Can remember breaking concrete to install barn cleaner and putting in more stalls. Mixed all the concrete with a small cement mixer and wheeled it in with a wheelbarrow. We worked hard but it was a good time to be a farmer. I think things weren't as complicated those days.

Holy cow, that was my childhood in a nut shell. I couldn't get enough of riding with my dad and working side by side with him. I miss the farming life so very much.
Great History! But I hope you remember the best cows you ever showed as fondly as I remember mine. Never got into sports, but showing great cattle is my favorite memory. I hope you can pass that to your own kids!

Going through a rough moment in my day and watching this video has completely changed it for the better. My family has a dairy in Dimock, PA about 20 miles south of Binghamton. Still working the land and milking the cows well over 100 years later. I'm 45 and live in the "city" now. You gave me a gift. A gift of remembering my lost family members, my special cow goobie, and days of past that resonate. The hard work. The summers that lasted forever. The love I felt and the love I gave. When your father said how Binghamton was local it made me think of all the trips to central tractor with my grandma. I noticed how sweet you are with your girls. You are a good guy. Thank you for making the world a better place.

Excellant video! We moved off the farm when I was seven. A neighbor bought it and did a lot of major improvements by tiling and cleaning up wet holes and clearing fence rows during the mid seventies when I worked for him during high school,loved every minute of it! We had the privilege of working it for a while after he sold the cows and retired until the decision was made to place it into CRP. A lot of good memories and a terrific friendship came from those years, still smile every time I drive by. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.
The pictures of the farm when your parents 1st bought it remind me of the days in the early 70s when I was a youngster spending time on my uncles dairy farm in eastern NY loving every minute of it and never wanting to leave!
The video brings back memories of our farm in Antwerp NY which I still have but is not operating. Trying to restore it back to what it was or as close as I can financially. We had Lamco wagons and a 93 combine which I still have. Farming is a lot of work and many farms fail because the work is so demanding and it is a stain on the family in regards to time management. I travel 81 over an over to northern NY from Virginia so I probably pass your farm. Thanks for the videos.

Very nice video. Love looking at old farm pics and hearing the stories behind them. It was neat seeing how the 2940 and 4055 came into play as the years rolled on, and the expansion of the barn and different silos. Thanks for sharing.
I just want to go back to when a guy and gal like me and my wife could have a really fair shake with 70 milkers and my neighbors weren't gluttons and greedy with all the extra land tied up flooding everyone else's market with 2,500 cows...may they fall on their own swords
Great job. I myself grew up on a farm in Oregon and can’t help but feel I will be back on a farm someday. As a man of God, I feel he will provide it to my family and my kids will get to experience my younger days.

@@mikep7810 your dad would probably remember my brother Jeff David Moore. Jeff worked with him for quite a while. I was only around for hay. Maybe I should put some videos on here too. I work a horse farm in North Carolina. Don't do all the stuff I did on a dairy farm, but still a lot of bailing and groundwork. My tractors and equipment are a lot smaller. LOL
I always like hearing and seeing the history of farms. 1976. Was the first year I planted corn on my own. I can see all the hard work over the years your dad has put in. Thanks Mike for sharing all that.
It's nice to see how far your families farm has come, all I can due is think back to what our family farm was and we're it was going, but the late 90s took its toll. Cows and equipment went in 96, and the land shortly After. Thank you for the great videos, and the work your family does everyday.

I looked up the old ford tractor 7600 (1978), they are still priced from $8,000 to $15,700 with front end loader. I really enjoyed your farm history as well as your family history on the farm. I also grew up on a farm in central Mississippi.👍

Have not been down to visit Dale in several years, the last time we rode our bicycles up Killalog hill road to his parents old home must have been 2011 or 12 when I was commuting to Greene. My son didn’t want anything to do with the farm and I just couldn’t keep going by myself.So I sold out.Now I’m lost in life missing my cows 🐄 and the farm sad.

@@mikep7810 I lived on a farm until I was 14 (now 24) and my dad ran 4 harvestores 2 concrete staves. I never seen the sealstor silos in operation until your videos which I find interesting.
@@ethanthopy1996 That's cool. In the 90s when my dad put these in he looked at harvestore but he didn't like their unloaders thats why he went with the sealstor so he could have the laidig unloaders. Basically the main difference is the unloaders. They are both glass enfused sealed units with breather bags
The farm next to us on one side started in the 70's. Built his own barn and started milking cows. The farm on the other side is in it's third generation. Lots of new organic farms starting up in the area and vineyards like mine. It will be interesting to see what the future brings -- not everyone can grow corn and beans.
Awesome video! I just watched it with my little boy sitting on my lap. Brought a few tears to my eyes because I lost my father to cancer last May. I bought a small farm in 2019 with the plan to raise feeders. beef just like the generations before

For your father to have purchased that farm when he did with interest rates sky high.........that is commitment and clearly the outcome of a great management and hard work. How is the farm structured today between your father and siblings? What is your employment off farm?

I enjoy these kind of videos it takes me back to when I was younger on our farm then we sold out in 99, it crushed me... I so bad wanted to take over from my parents but my dad said it wasn't worth it. That's all I ever wanted to be was a farmer till I die. Hopefully you take over fully one day Mike God bless!

I really like your family history on the farm Video ! I wonder to this day how things would be for me had I not lost my Dad at 12 and the Bankers of the day not cutting my Mom any slack so they could steal the land . I'm now 78 Don't ever give up "The Family Farm" !! Best of farming to You !!
I'm sorry to hear that James. I'm thinking about going even further back and doing the history of my parents before they moved to NY. My grandfather died and my dad's family had to sell the farm

Mike, that was awesome I love the wrap around porch mom & dad had on the house. Great photos of yesteryear. I remember when dealers would drop off tractors at are place for my grandpa & uncle to try out those were the days. Great job.

@@mikep7810 the sealstor silos are different than Harvestores and I like that you go into detail and show them working.

@@mikep7810 I lived on a farm until I was 14 (now 24) and my dad ran 4 harvestores 2 concrete staves. I never seen the sealstor silos in operation until your videos which I find interesting.
@@ethanthopy1996 That's cool. In the 90s when my dad put these in he looked at harvestore but he didn't like their unloaders thats why he went with the sealstor so he could have the laidig unloaders. Basically the main difference is the unloaders. They are both glass enfused sealed units with breather bags
The farm next to us on one side started in the 70's. Built his own barn and started milking cows. The farm on the other side is in it's third generation. Lots of new organic farms starting up in the area and vineyards like mine. It will be interesting to see what the future brings -- not everyone can grow corn and beans.
Thats very true. You have to use the ground you got. Not every ground is the best for corn and beans

For your father to have purchased that farm when he did with interest rates sky high.........that is commitment and clearly the outcome of a great management and hard work. How is the farm structured today between your father and siblings? What is your employment off farm?

I enjoy these kind of videos it takes me back to when I was younger on our farm then we sold out in 99, it crushed me... I so bad wanted to take over from my parents but my dad said it wasn't worth it. That's all I ever wanted to be was a farmer till I die. Hopefully you take over fully one day Mike God bless!

great video brings back many memories . I started farming in 84 and my wife was from the west and the thing we remember was it cost a dollar a minute for her to call her family.
