I feel like this is the perfect all-around BT speaker. It's got high quality sound for casual listening, intense bass and loud sound for more party atmospheres, just small enough to be truly portable, great specs. It's just perfect for what it is. A BT speaker cannot get any bigger and more powerful without losing portability and convenience. Like, the PartyBox's are great, but you've got to be crazy if you think you're gonna be lugging those big ass things around. The Boombox is a grab-n-go.
This guy ain't lyin! I've had my BB2 for over a year now. And all I can say is wow. This thing is worth every penny. My buddy even drove over it with his BMW last summer. Picked it up, dusted it off. Works like nothing had even happened to it. This thing's frigin bulletproof! And the sound! I consider myself a bit of an audio file. And it boggles my mind how they get sound so crisp and loud out of this little thing. I'm telling you. You need one of these in your life!
The biggest reason why I would choose a #3 if you're going to get one. Is the power cable. The proprietary one that came with #2 is garbage. I broke my first one and it was a bit of a pain in the neck to get a replacement. That one on the number three. If you're into audio you've got ten of those kicking around your house if you need to replace it.
Just got one and it absolutely blows away the JBL Boombox 1 in terms of quality and volume. Everything upgraded in sound quality across the board! I was skeptical at first but comparing them reveals a solid upgrade compared to going from Boombox 1 to Boombox 2. 50% volume and the windows are vibrating. The Boombox 1 has mostly bass but absolutely falls short on treble and mids compared to the Boombox 3, also volume. 100% volume on the Boombox 1 is like the Boombox 3 at about 50%ish. Outdoors at max, still zero distortion on either. The JBL App EQ works great too, test for your own music tastes. Crazy the bass can actually go even higher, damn
The Boombox models are always the most expensive models and have better audio quality, for example the boombox 3 many say that now it has too much power in the mids, but it is nothing more than that we got used to the fact that JBL always lacked high mids since its sound is in V, but now with its 3 audio channels it is a beauty of sound and separation of instruments, on my channel I have a video where I show the test of the channels separately from the boombox 3, proof that nobody has done so far.
I’ve had the Boombox 2 and the new JBL Partybox Essential, both sounds awesome, especially indoors. The Partybox Essential isn’t overwhelmingly loud like the boombox, but it does have the bass boost feature which absolutely blows my mind, HOLY F*K, It vibrates my entire bedroom. I always put mine against the wall or in corner, and I sit on the other side of the room. The bass resonates better when you sit farther away from it.
Thanks Flossy. Just received my bb3 a couple of days ago and wow! I have a pair of PB110 and a pair of PB310. I gotta say, the lows (bass) on this bb3 is so well defined i feel like this is the go to speaker around the house. I'll leave the other big boys for parties.
One thing to note fellas. The JBL bb3 is not made for high elevation usage. I took my bb3 up to 5000 feet elevation for a family outing and the passive radiators ballooned outwards due to high elevation. Came back home and I had disassemble the subwoofer to release the pressure. All is well afterwards. Besides all of that, it is true what Flossy says, this speaker is worth the $500, I had a good deal on black Friday on another so one more is coming in the mail.
It’s air-tight because it’s waterproof. They had this issue with the flip 3 in hot climates where the air would also expand inside enough to break the speakers. Because of this, they added a way to make it breathe slowly while still being waterproof. I hope they didn’t get rid of it on the boombox 3. Edit: accidentally said “loud climates,” meant hot climates.
I like JBL products, even if my JBL $130 BT headphones left side recently RIP after a few years. I have a Go2, Go3, and Charge4, that latter I think is awesome, especially since it still has the mini jack audio I put that the Charge 5 doesn't have. The Charge 4/5 easy sells out fast, especially when someone buys it and their friends snd families hear it, and cone in to sell out the rest, repeatedly. Two friends of mine have the Boombox2, and it's awesome. I was very tempted at buying one, but I don’t need it, and can't crank it where I live, but so tempted to get the Boombox3. The Boombox2 sells out whenever it is in stock at the store I work at, and that is rare that we ever get it in. It's expensive, but worth it, if you like music and good sound and bass, and willing to spend the money. But now, I am tempted to get a Boombox3. There's also a real nice aftermarket carrying bag for the Boombox2 that might fit the Boombox3 that I just saw on the Walmart website. If you already have a Boombox2, and love it, you may not need to, but at the same price, it's a no brainer to get the Boombox3 if you're getting a new one. 808Ninjacat approved. Yes, there are other good ones, but JBL is a longtime pro audio company, and often easier to get because of high production volume, though they sell out fast, including the Party Box. For those that don't know, JBL is part of Harman Kardon, along with AKG that works with Samsung products, Bang & Olufsen, and a whole bunch of other pro audio companies, so the know their audio technology.
i had both playing head-to-head in my room for 2 days straight, bb2 is an awesome boombox and not far from bb3, but bb3 does sound louder, voices are much clearer, more separation in all the sounds, and has a little more hard-hitting regular bass, sub bass they are both very much alike. I also like the look of bb3, metal handle feels more premium and no giant charging block to carryy around, just a simple cord. bb3 is noticeably heavier. BB2 sound is a little darker, voices are clear but sound laid back, sub bass hits really good on both, BB3 has brighter, louder sound sig, voices more forward. It was a hard choice to choose, but I ended up keeping the bb3.

i recently bought the bb 3 and mind you i already had the original bb so i played them side by side and i was surprised how unbalanced it was, the bb 3 completely blew bb out the water especially the bass. i had to order another bb 3🤣
I went to Coney Island beach this year and there is no doubt that the loudest speakers on the beach were the BB2. I couldn't hear my 2 Charge 5s at all. It was quite annoying. Imma pick up this BB3 for beach duty for next year.
I have the boombox 2 and when I’m at the lake everyone around just decides to turn their speakers off because they can’t compete. I also won a JBL extreme 3 in a drawing at work. It’s fun party boosting both of them together. Makes you want to get more. I might have to get me the boombox 3 as well

The JBL BOOMBOX 3 is a huge upgrade and sounds way better than the boombox 2 and design is way better I just got mine like 2 days ago and is worth every penny!!! I love JBL

That Bike Life sound test took me in a fantasy! I've listened that song for more than 200 times! That is the perfect song for testing bluetooth speakers and headphones which has sub bass, mids and highs! Always use that song in every video Floss! By the way, the Boombox 3 is amazing!
The boom box 3 so far is better in my opinion , I traveled all around with my boom box 2 took it in the ocean, rivers pools , I was not gentle to it and it finally met it’s demise when it fell off a work over rig amazing speaker … so I traded it in with warranty got the boom box 3 just going off sound right now it’s better I can’t vouch for durability or anything atm had it for 3 hours 😂

Oh. They get more watts plugged in. I did not know that. I figured it would be kept the same as to keep the drivers at a consistent level. I know that video recordings still don't do sound tests justice, but I can feel the bass through my headphones. My partner is gonna love this thing that I got when it comes in the mail.

Is there a time limit to max volume? Meaning do you need to run it on 40 percent volume? Or can you go max volume with no damage to your speakers? I'm glad to find out you can run the JBL BOOM3 while plugged in, which should keep the battery fully charged and the device capable of playing on and on. I am getting this later, we just got two of these in our store Wednesday, and one already sold out on my day off on Thursday. I don't need it right now, and going to let people get these for the season, plus I want to get a $200 Casio CT-S1 music keyboard first, which incidentally, like my other keyboard, a Roland Go:Keys, have a 3mm stereo headphone jack output instead of ¼" stereo output jacks, so if I want up to 180 watts output instead of a bigger, heavier, snd possibly much more expensive keyboard amp, this is a no brainer, since I am not a pro gigging musician, but it's still an option for smaller gigs with pro keyboards with the proper adapters, even a small mixer for more inputs. And now I can justify it for other uses, like training classes or presentations with a laptop, and possibly a big screen TV or projector if needed. *Key point, you can justify a new toy, if you csn show it has a legitimate purpose as a useful tool, especially if it can generate more income. $$$ 😉 And as a bonus, Walmart discounts the the JBL speakers below MSRP. The JBL Boombox3 is selling for $429.00! Get them while it's hot. I don't even eork retail. I sm a security contract supervisor, but assist the store crew. The Boombox2. Charge4/5 and Flip 5 are such easy sells, and always go fast. The Boombox2 has often been out of stock for very long periods of time. For the people that really love the sound, and willingbto pay to play, especially at $70 discount, this is certainly a major, major go! 👍 Like many other thibgs, I sm glad I waited. Even if my Charge 4 at home is more than enough, the Boombox 3 has stereo, paired speakers. I forgot if the Boombox2 has the a 3mm mini jack input, but if not, this is definitely a plus.

I went to Coney Island beach this year and there is no doubt that the loudest speakers on the beach were the BB2. I couldn't hear my 2 Charge 5s at all. It was quite annoying. Imma pick up this BB3 for beach duty for next year.
Sound box is louder
@@Lerf8 Never heard it. I'm willing to bet it is louder but sound distorts at those higher volumes. Is it same size or bigger than JBL Boombox??

I have the boombox 2 and when I’m at the lake everyone around just decides to turn their speakers off because they can’t compete. I also won a JBL extreme 3 in a drawing at work. It’s fun party boosting both of them together. Makes you want to get more. I might have to get me the boombox 3 as well
If you really want a portable speaker to shut everyone up at the lake , invest in a soundboks

Lots of the time when people go out to the lake, its for the purpose of getting away from city noise.

Now. I wouldn’t say this is the best speaker ever from jbl. That position goes to the partybox 1000 (if you got $1k to spare) but this speaker still bangs regardless!!

Playing 3 JBL Boomboxes at that range is damn loud 🤯 I only have a Boombox 2,3 and a charge 5 and I had a ball and I was behind my speakers 🤣 great video Floss. Also you said you were going to compare the new monster Blaster against the BB3 did you do that off camera as well?

The JBL BOOMBOX 3 is a huge upgrade and sounds way better than the boombox 2 and design is way better I just got mine like 2 days ago and is worth every penny!!! I love JBL

listening through my Sony with sub woofer sounds good especially when you had the three going. only thing lacking is a solo by Floss

That Bike Life sound test took me in a fantasy! I've listened that song for more than 200 times! That is the perfect song for testing bluetooth speakers and headphones which has sub bass, mids and highs! Always use that song in every video Floss! By the way, the Boombox 3 is amazing!

The boom box 3 so far is better in my opinion , I traveled all around with my boom box 2 took it in the ocean, rivers pools , I was not gentle to it and it finally met it’s demise when it fell off a work over rig amazing speaker … so I traded it in with warranty got the boom box 3 just going off sound right now it’s better I can’t vouch for durability or anything atm had it for 3 hours 😂

Oh. They get more watts plugged in. I did not know that. I figured it would be kept the same as to keep the drivers at a consistent level.
I know that video recordings still don't do sound tests justice, but I can feel the bass through my headphones. My partner is gonna love this thing that I got when it comes in the mail.
Sounds nice a crisp especially those mid highs and bass is special. Bit pricey buts its JBL.Gotta bit the bullet. Great review as ever.👍👊

Is there a time limit to max volume? Meaning do you need to run it on 40 percent volume? Or can you go max volume with no damage to your speakers? I'm 68 and back when I bought speakers they all said don't crank it.

Hi. Your demonstration is top hand ! You describe everything, demo everything, and you answered questions I had in mind. I'm glad to find out you can run the JBL BOOM3 while plugged in, which should keep the battery fully charged and the device capable of playing on and on.
Based on your demonstration and recommendations, I chose this JBL BOOM3.
I have not received it yet, getting in few days
Also getting Top End BOSE Noise Cancelling headphones (over ear).
Both sound fantastic and I am certain they will make enjoying great music a lot easier.

I tried more speakers. Flip 6 its portable. Partybox 310 is a beast but this boombox is in the balance. Its best for me
I just dropped 199.99 Canadian on the LG X-Boom 360 R4 at Costco. It's a beast, It's definitely not a grab and go unit . It looks sick and is my stay at home unit.

I bought one last week at Walmart for $379 and I love it. I had to go to 4 Walmart's to get it as they been selling out fast at that price.
I am getting this later, we just got two of these in our store Wednesday, and one already sold out on my day off on Thursday. I don't need it right now, and going to let people get these for the season, plus I want to get a $200 Casio CT-S1 music keyboard first, which incidentally, like my other keyboard, a Roland Go:Keys, have a 3mm stereo headphone jack output instead of ¼" stereo output jacks, so if I want up to 180 watts output instead of a bigger, heavier, snd possibly much more expensive keyboard amp, this is a no brainer, since I am not a pro gigging musician, but it's still an option for smaller gigs with pro keyboards with the proper adapters, even a small mixer for more inputs.
And now I can justify it for other uses, like training classes or presentations with a laptop, and possibly a big screen TV or projector if needed.
*Key point, you can justify a new toy, if you csn show it has a legitimate purpose as a useful tool, especially if it can generate more income. $$$ 😉
And as a bonus, Walmart discounts the the JBL speakers below MSRP. The JBL Boombox3 is selling for $429.00! Get them while it's hot. I don't even eork retail. I sm a security contract supervisor, but assist the store crew. The Boombox2. Charge4/5 and Flip 5 are such easy sells, and always go fast. The Boombox2 has often been out of stock for very long periods of time.
For the people that really love the sound, and willingbto pay to play, especially at $70 discount, this is certainly a major, major go! 👍
Like many other thibgs, I sm glad I waited. Even if my Charge 4 at home is more than enough, the Boombox 3 has stereo, paired speakers. I forgot if the Boombox2 has the a 3mm mini jack input, but if not, this is definitely a plus.
