When I lived in Chicago I heard of this mall...I wonder if it was originally called Oak Brook Terrace years ago. I'm not certain if I was ever a visitor to this mall but it's sad to see a place that was such a go-to concept in the 1980's & 1990's become a dying concept to not all but many shopping malls out there. I'm not a businessman so I've zero idea what can be done to reverse the current situation of this mall. You can almost see or feel the ghosts of all of the people who once enthusiastically shopped there... As usual your music choice is spot-on. It's nice to see a place in Illinois, though sad to see it without people milling about. Well Done!
just went here today and it was WAAAY way deader than i thought it would be sucks to see cause its a mall i went to when i was little, i remember playing in that treehouse thing they have and getting candy ☹️
I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. I'm not sure if I ever went to this particular mall, but I'm still sorry it's not doing well. For what it's worth, I think the overhead lighting and warm tans and browns give it a really cozy vibe. That kids' area is also pretty dope 👍
It’s a higher end mall geared toward the local population who makes at least double the average income. That’s why an Apple and Lego store still exists.
@@artofexp That makes sense. I'm not saying I'm right, but there's a mall somewhat close to where I live that also has an Apple and Lego store. And a ton of jewelry stores too...
Once Apple or LEGO or any of those middle stores close it’ll be like a domino effect with more to follow. I feel like those brands with few others hold the mall together.
this breaks my heart
Did you go to this mall growing up?

Thanks for watching. Oak Brook Terrace is still an existing mall called Oak Brook Center. Not quite dead yet. 👻
Epic.

I still feel these mall can be saved if DTC businesses is given the opportunity to open locations in these empty spaces.
Have you ever seen DTC businesses move in and save a mall or other type of shopping center?
Sad. Yogibo and Red Mango closed up here today and Lululemon and Sephora are about to leave.

Years ago in high school I visited this mall after an outing at Glencoe Beach and we saw Tokyo Drift at this AMC 😂
