I feel so depressed every time I see or hear of an abandoned mall because they were a huge part of my childhood. I remember frequenting them a lot in the 90s. Today’s kids will never know the true joy of a mall. Even malls that stand today don’t really offer that old school vibe
I feel the same way.
I was born in late 2000s probably one of the last generations to actually go my local mall. Had so much fun at the mall, even went with my friends a few months ago. We had fun, I wish malls were still popular.
Malls were the community square/village market for the majority of people born before 2000.
The pandemic finished that sense of community off, with the advent of the Internet and e-commerce the decline started and began to accelerate.
Now with 24/7/365 always on shopping there is no need to ever leave your house.
It’s why GenZ and later Millennials have very few social skills and zero ability to form relationships of all types, it’s also why they’re the generation with the most issues with loneliness and depression.
I was born and raised before malls were a big thing, but you still went out with friends and socialized and actually talked face to face or on the telephone.
Today it’s bite sized SMS messages with zero socialization and interactions.
The death of the malls the transformation of society into compartmentalized social units and the return of a form of class system.
I LOVE the interior of this mall. It's truly a liminal paradise.
i love fun, funky and unique architecture
The roofing/sealing is the problem in these old malls. So expensive to repair and maintain from water damage. It's sooo very sad to loose all of these places, but most of us still have good memories of them...
i have so many memories here as a kid. that orange pbs play area was my absolute favorite. my family and i always shopped at biggs, my sister lost her first phone there lol. my dad and i would go to the movies on the weekends and get great steak in the food court after. miss those days 😭
🥺
This was our go-to mall growing up. I've got many, many memories from this place. Biggs and Electronics Boutique is where I bought my video games as a kid. Biggs had a big wooden bin in the back by the electronics sections where they'd dump a bunch of older games for $20. I'd always go back there and rummage through it. We loved Super Saver Cinemas! We saw many movies there including Ernest Goes to Jail and Jurassic Park. And we'd in every year for their 4th of July fireworks. I remember sitting on a blanket in the grassy area out by the mall sign watching the fireworks. This place was a itsd part of my childhood, and I hate to see it completely gone. So sad.
I'm surprised you got in so easily! Lucky you got a nice enough Security to escort you all out!
I’m pretty sure the interior is open, he got kicked out because he was filming and I don’t think they want that. At least if this video was filmed pre-2023
Cincinnati mills is still open you can walk all in it it’s just not no stores anymore I think the last one closed like right before Covid hit
@@cam2xx688 is it really?? I was doing some digging today because I really want to go check this place out and I saw a bunch of people saying it isn’t even worth trying anymore. Even saw some people talk about motion sensors but that seemed like a stretch... That comment was from 6 days ago.
I don't understand why you got kicked out... I went here a few years ago, there was an arcade and kohl's and bass pro shop still operating... also locals actually use it to walk laps indoors for excercise. did you see any mall walkers?
I'm not sure when this video was filmed, but if it was pre 12/2022 there was a policy of no filming/photography in the mall, if it was post 12/2022, (which is what it sounded like) the mall was officially shut down by the fire marshall for code violations,so they were trespassing at that point. The arcade moved out to their own location in Sharonville in around Aug-Oct/2022.
I would go there all the time when it was in its prime. Amazing place. Ferris wheel, bumper cars and a huge video game room inside. Its all gone now.
Went here 2 years ago and watched 3 teenage boys slide down the broken escalators. I miss what this mall used to be
holy crap, the "factory pomo" aesthetic design of this mall SCREAMS 90s, I can't even handle it
Actually, this interior redesign was done in the 2000's. The mall used to be neutral brown/tan and with gold banisters/railing. Nobody local liked this design. IIRC the company that bought the mall at that time has a corporate look, so there were other malls that look like this.
I literally had someone tell me about this mall 30 mins ago and thought "there has to be a TH-cam video about this, I have to see this place" and here it is! Thanks so much!
Glad to see you back in Cincinnati brother. We’ve missed you !
I have a friend from Cincinnati, and they say Skyline Chili is the best, especially on hot dogs.
Wow, I grew up going to this mall.
Man what a great underrated mall this used to be. So many memories of it. It used to have an amusement park inside with a full Ferris wheel when it was named "Forest Fair Mall" before the new owners took over. It once had some sort of night club on one end IIRC lol. This place is massive....shame to see it decaying so bad, its supposed to be demolished soon. I think they always had problems filling it up. Even in the peak i never remember them being able to get enough stores to fill this place...
Very clean
Awesome video
Great video! Went here earlier today to try to explore but couldn’t find an entrance
Cincinnati Mills Mall will be reopened and restored to its original glory. What we need is a fundraising campaign to make it happen.
Cost to much to make it happen the city of Cincinnati would have to buy the mall and then put a hell of a lot of money into but that still wouldn’t save it because booth rent still would be to high
@@cam2xx688 True, but we can still make it happen when we work together and make a difference.
DUDE IVE BEEN SO TEMPTED TO JUST BREAK IN THERE AND LOOK AROUND
You should've seen this place when it was Forest Fair Mall back in the early 90's.
Bass pro just moved down to Kohls only
mental. i would die to explore here
awesome video! i went here last year, the video is on my channel. felt like a fever dream the entire time we were there.
Wouldn't it be great if they took one of the big malls and made into a time warp like totally 1984 and you pay gate to keep it going... Arcades movie theaters and such
This will always be Forest Fair Mall to me.
It's like when the proper people got caught I think in MALL
I been thinking of going in there If I still can, just about 40 min away, just hate to go alone lol
Visited the mall in 2017 just to go play at the arcade did not expect to be empty building. Surreal coming from the city and seeing a huge mall with noone inside but the lights on and very clean. Only came across one couple in there and the arcade which had the most activity. Some gym aswell was open. The moment we started recording some white security guy on a scooter told us we cant record in there to stop or else we need to leave. Some shit is going on in there there so much security for there being nothing to secure. sketchy, will upload my video tho that we took.
How is the elevator working?
Looks like a mall that belongs in Miami
So can you still walk around the inside?
This video, must have been recorded a while ago. The mall has been sold, and has been boarded up for months now.
Someone tried to set it on fire, it's fully boarded up now.
Thanks for the video that guy was a jerk
Just doing his job, he told him to come back when he wasnt working so he wouldnt get in trouble lol
It’s hot asf in there now no ac or nothing but it’s still open and the bathrooms are still open but they never gonna close this mall it’s damn near a Cincinnati monument
When’s the last time you went? Looking to explore this.
@@Mlgmaxwell a couple of months ago I used to live down the street from here so I used to go all the time and my friend mom had like a trampoline park in there so I used to take my son like 2 summers ago
I didn't think they still let ppl in this bc of asbestos
Pause at 1:10 for cocc
Was this pre-2023?
