Linklight returns to the workshop for Rivals of Aether which gives you access to custom new characters or mods! In this video I check out Springtrap, a character from Five Nights at Freddy's 3 which is pretty scary. A lot of work clearly went into this character. The animations were next level.

Springtrap’s Moveset isn’t just from FNaF 3, but from the ENTIRETY of his involvement of the franchise, allowing him to reference things from the Very First game, all the way up to Security Breach. I LOVE this character. Also, some skins actually have unique qualities. One of them even has a unique taunt.

I can't believe I just realized something. This Springtrap isn't just meant to be like a way to show off every appearence in every official game, it's literally AFTON's soul put into Rivals, like how it was put into Help Wanted

The thing about this mod is that it takes things from Springtrap’s whole history, even Special Delivery (AR) and Security Breach.

as a lifetime FNAF fan this moveset BAFFLES me with the amount of references, you can really see how much care was put into this character, definitely one of my all-time favorites

For those confused by up special, you can replace the tape anywhere after initially placing it by holding up special, you simply just momentarily tap the command to teleport to the cassette. If your struggling, try letting go of the buttons after inputting up special.

There has been a new update to spring trap that adds names to all of the costumes, and even special, taunting animations for a few of them. As well as some various adjustments to the character himself. Not sure if you want to revisit it, but re-downloading the character should apply the update. This mod has been in development for almost 3 years by multiple people, and has had many revisions and changes over said time. A stage s also coming soon with some BANGER music so stay tuned!
The hammer is a reference to his "Clown Springtrap" design from Special Delivery, in which he carries one. The shield is also from another design, the Aztec inspired Springtrap called "The Curse". Both skins appear as color swaps.
His Side Special is based on his design and attacks from FnaF World.

I thought his respawn platform was cassidy forcefully reviving him cuz in the lore, she won't let Afton die for eternal suffering purposes.
The “Purplegeist” color is actually inspired by (okay this is a BIG deep cut) the FNaF World Halloween Edition troll game.
The final boss featured a monstrous version of the Purple Guy and his name was.. you guessed it “the Purplegeist”
5:33 That's actually Adventure Springtrap from FNAF World using an attack called "Slasher". It's a chance attack that insta-kills only. It's an attack that Jack O' Bonnie, one of the characters you have to beat a minigame for, possesses.
it's also known by purple guy himself, which is why springtrap uses it at all
The hammer is a reference to Springtrap's clown skin from FNaF AR btw.

Fun Fact: One of the people who worked on this character (The Ooftroop) are actually the person who made the Undeniably Canon FNaF series of videos.
Dang this character is filled with references. The only ones I don’t get are his shield, his up air, and his down tilt, but still very well made character all around
The shield is an reference to His Skin "the curse" in FNAF AR where he actually holds the shield
His down air is a reference to fnaf 3 the animatronic heads you can see lying around and the phantom animatronics that jumps are you in the game

Hey thank you so much for showing off springtrap! i'm one of the main developers and the spriter for the mod, it's a shame you used an old build, because the patched version fixed the rest of the alts not showing (and the names not showing lmao), and some other big issues, hope you're gonna show off more of this character in the future! thank you so much

his alternate costumes aren't just random similar to any other character as most have meaning behind them, sure some of them are random but most aren't

the recovery work like this:
if there is no tape, pressing up special put the tape at your position
when the tape is there:
tapping up special teleport you to the tape
holding up special put once again the tape to your position.
I absolutely love how His jab goes from Springtrap, to Scraptrap, to the iconic William Afton purple guy sprite.
There is an update already with costume names and more (also ou need to press up b once to teleport)

Recovery should just teleport him to the nearest solid ground and play the voice line "I always come back"

I can’t believe Springtrap is finally out, and he was absolutely worth the wait, easily my favorite Rivals workshop character

0:45 I like how when you do his basic attack, the second punch is from scraptrap
The FAir sound effect is the same one when he gets Springlocked, I absolutely love the amount of detail that went into this character.
Kind of a shame that he got those jaw things that he's never used for his projectile when they could've used the Phantom animatronics.
Seems like the Up B is a more "setup" style of Up B. As you have to place the Casette first and then you can Up B again to teleport to the Casette. And when you use it I assume you gotta set it up again. So it's definitely a somewhat confusing Up B bit with practice you can get used to it. I think closest comparison I can make is Ness/Lucas PK Thunder, since you gotta hit yourself with it to recover. Similar complexity here, gotta find a spot to place the cassette and that's when the Up B is ready to work.
The thing is tho, is he was placing a tape repeatedly.

@@shirothefish9688Springtrap’s up special works differently if you tap or hold the button. Tapping it teleports Springtrap to the cassette. Holding it replaces the current cassette.
I case you wondering, the up air is a reference to SpringTrap’s clown costume from fnaf special delivery, and his block is his Aztec costume from the same game.

Down Tilt - appears to just be bear traps? Most likely a reference to the origin of Springtrap's name
Up Tint - reference to a rare screen you can see in FNaF 3 where he holds his mask open. He then has it snap shut in the animation, probably just a generic bite based attack to end it.
Forward Tilt - Reference to the weapon with which William Afton Killed
Dash Attack - No identifiable reference
Neutral Air - reference to Flaming Springtrap from FNaF AR as well as the fact that every appearance of a physical springtrap in the games is accompanied by the place being burnt down
Forward Air - reference to William Afton stuffing his victims into Animatronics AND the suit head design appears to be a reference to female Spring Bonnie from FNaF World
Back Air - reference to the Toxic Springtrap from FNaF AR
Down Air - 2d digital sprite form of the "Malhare Virus"
Side Special - he turns into Adventure Springtrap from FNaF World, he is also throwing knives that are identical in appearance to the move knife from FNaF World
Down Special - he turns into Malhare from Help Wanted, if he counters he becomes Burntrap from Security Breach, if nothing happens, he turns into Malhare's plushie form from Help Wanted
Forward Smash - He calls out phantom Foxy from FNaF 3
Up Smash - He releases the Phantom Puppet from FNaF 3 from a gift box
Down Smash - He throws down the heads of Freddy and Chica which summon Phantom Freddy and Phantom Chica, both fron FNaF 3
Shielding - he pulls out a Mayan/Aztec style shield based on his Aztec/Mayan skin from FNaF AR

This is a really good Moveset for Springtrap. The only two things I would change is the Back Aerial and the Up Special.

I really enjoy your content and I have been watching excitedly ever since your first Custom Characters in Rivals of Aether video. I apologize if this is a bit much, as I am not sure if you take requests for future videos, but if at all possible, could you please possibly do a video on Jerma985 by roboshyguy, Ridley by EGGS, and/or Tahu by JustRaisins?
I haven't ever seen a deep dive into any of their movesets, so please consider it if you can, and keep up the wonderful content regardless, you have done an amazing job and I know you will just keep getting better and better. :)

The pitch black and purple springtrap is actually Glitchtrap/Malhare. The attack where springtrap turns into a cartoon like version is actually springtrap from fnaf world. The ice/completely blue springtrap is from fnaf special delivery/AR.
5:35 this move is called slasher, it's from FNAF world and if I remember correctly, it has a one in five (or smthn) chance to instakill
The orb that he can send out I'm pretty sure is a move called sludge, also from FNAF world, and weakens/slows the enemy
Incase you’ve still yet to learn how the up special works properly.
When you don’t have a cassette on the stage, up special places it down where you are, and gives you a slight jump boost.
Then when it’s on the screen, tapping the button teleports you too it, and holding it places a new cassette.

funfact, the beige one is a reference to william aftons/ purple guy's first suit, the first suit wasnt using robotics but was a bunny costume becase its bow is purple
it still had springlocks. the springbonnie suit (Beige one) is the same one as the springtrap suit. the difference being with springtrap, william got stabbed everywhere and drowned in his own blood, possessed his own corpse and was locked in the back room for thirty years.
