Banned, Forbidden, and Taboo Reading Vlog Round 2

  • SPOILERS FOR THESE BOOKS IN THIS VIDEO
    I did one of these last year and since you all liked it so much, I thought I'd do it again! I ended up finding a few favorites in the last one, but this time around was a little different...just remember going into this video the purpose was to read books that are either banned, very forbidden, or highly taboo. If that's not your thing or too much for you, I totally understand and hopefully I'll see you in another video! I think it's fun to push the boundaries and read outside of the norm sometimes and these books all fit that envelope! Thank you for watching :)

    My favorite type of taboo romance is that whole thing like Unconditional where there is an age gap with very young heroine. Like a mentor, surrogate, or family friend that the relationship changes as the girl grows up. But I really want to see the internal war as the way they see each other starts to change.

      The Ribbon Duet by Pepper Winters is a slow burn with a 10 year age gap. Basically, the guy ran away from a very dark situation when he was 10, and the daughter of the people he ran from ended up in his backpack. For years he raised her and they tell people that they are siblings. As they start to fall in love you really get to see how they struggle with their feelings. (more so with the guy, but with the girl too).

    This is the first video from you I watched, and I completely agree with you with your first message. I don't get why it's OK for people to watch horror, play really gory video games, but criticize people reading dark romances!!! So unfair!!
    From the books you picked, I only read Unconditional and I agree with 100% of your comments about it!!

    I really like your videos, you give honest, detailed reviews. You don't just say it sucks but share your honest opinion and explain why it wasn't for you. The recognition that everybody's taste is different is refreshing. I'm honestly tired of going on goodreads and reading reviews that are just one sentence of pure hate or a shitton of shaming other people. Also, I wish they would stop reviewing the author instead of the actual book. I mean, did I read it wrong? Does this not ask for my opinion on the book?
    Don't worry about the cats, they're adorable and my dogs bark through every skype meeting I ever have.
    And YES to the third video, keep it up!

    I completely agree about The Dare, after I finished it I was so confused why it was banned. I had just read Sabotage which is still sold on Amazon (likewise to your statement concerning RIP, not saying it should be banned). I read Love Unexpected and Unconditional earlier this month, and had mostly similar feelings as you on both.

      @@Oheyitsmichae hi, ok so my favourite long haul (11 books)epic fantasy/sci-fi rh is rise of the iliri by auryn Hadley. Slow burn , slow harem build, but the world building and character development is sooo good. Chefs kiss 👌😚
      Favourite contemporary long series( 4 books but they girthy, but read so well paced throughout) is Kings of Quarantine by Caroline Peckham, Susanne Valenti
      Or j.bree's hannaford prep.
      Other contemp ones I love are
      Madison kate by tate james
      Filthy rich boys by c.m.stunich and the secret girl same author.
      Favourite PNR ( I have so many to choose from so you can see what tickles your fancy)
      The lost and chosen by ivy asher 🥵🥵
      Variant lost by kaydence snow ( has one of those wonderful a-hole guys we love to hate/wanna rip their clothes off)
      Gypsy blood by Kristy cunning( this is a marmite series you love it or hate it, but I found it hilarious and a crazy ride)
      Favourite omegaverse rh is lola and the millionaires duet. By katheryn moon.
      Honourable mention for princess ballot by jasmin eve and tate james as not rh but it's menage so 🤷‍♀️🍆🍆🐱

    I have read RIP. It was wild but I totally love having my boundaries pushed.
    my fav brother/sister book of all time tho is Hale by k webster , such a good relationship development between the 2.
    If looking for another crazy bro/sis book try raw by seven rue that one is wild, and banned.
    .
    Love your reactions to the books. I have both unconditional and the dare on my tbr☺️👌 but we all know the tbr is a fickle mistress. 😫🙄

      @Oheyitsmichae  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hale was the other book I almost did instead of the Dare but decided for something shorter but I definitely want to read that one!! And I know what you mean I have a lot on my tbr that I want to read but I’m such a mood reader that I end up blowing off a lot of them for other books😅

    • @jlohardwick
      @jlohardwick 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Oheyitsmichae hale is so good, it also deals with mental health issues quite well I thought , and it feels more like a romance between a guy and girl who just so happen to be related rather than a cringey bro/sis taboo just for shock value.
      Same I'm usually reading at least 3/4 books at the same time and will swap depending on my mood or ability to fully concentrate. 😬😬
