I passed my test today :P I got 5 minors. He went over my faults, and said I was going a little fast past a bin lorry, and I should have been aware of possible pedestrians working on the vehicle. A couple of missed mirrors too, but nothing serious. I would stress that you check your mirrors, signal, then go, get that stuck into your head. Funnily enough I had to overtake another learner for going too slow, so I had to take the intiative and everything worked out really well.

I have failed my test today bcz I was stopped on traffic lights n a cyclist came from the back n stop next to passenger door then examiner suddenly move my staring wheel towards right a bit while there was already cars on the right lane to go in right side he failed me bcz he said there wasn't plenty of room for cyclist but do i actually need to leave a space for cyclist as there wasn't any cycling lane n I was going left I was stopped on red lights wasn't moving so I'm just confused as I don't think I was wrong
Hello. We always have to be careful about cyclists. The are unpredictable. Driving examiners never take chances with pedestrians and cyclists. Better luck next time. DTC UK
About center mirror: I m driving 5 years only van-cars without any central mirror at all (!!!!). This is the rule for every van lol. I think that rule with a central mirror is ridiculous.
I failed my test a couple months ago for going too wide on my left reverse park and only had 4 minors and an excellent drive, yet I failed? Any ideas why the examiner would do that?
I heard that Driving theory test is going to change and it will be based on video clips can you advise me which CD should I get to practice video clips test. Thanks
I feel that examiners and instructors know each other. If you get less lessons you can fail. They know you don`t know all test routes and examiner can do easy to go complex way and you can change direction so you fail.(D junctions etc.) If they want to you pass exam they can show you all test routes and you know which lane or which roundabout or which exit. min 2 lesson and car using. Earliest exam date 5 weeks or 2 months. I think so bad system. I think checking mirrors extremely and unnecessary. we are not robot.I think you can easy do accident if you check mirror what they want.If they want to safe traffic to be not allow over 70-80 years old people to drive!
Can I suggest instead of talking about passing or failing the test talk about why a DVSA examiner marks people down on these things. An ADI should stress the reasons why you should do something (and not just to pass the test)

This is why i tried to stress that, for example, that checking mirror alone is not good enough, one must act on what they see. I've heard that straring December this year they gonna start using SAT NAV during the test so I'm panicking and want to book my test soon . So my question is ; if my test is booked , and I'm not ready yet can I move the date ?
Hi Is it true that if you made an error on your manoeuvre but almost everything else is done really well you can still pass? Also if you are on a massive roundabout and follow your lane yet you manage to go the wrong way can you fail? And what about when you are over taking a slower vehicle/bike but scared to do so and remain back is that also allowed?

I failed my first test because i moved into the right lane (from left) on approach to a roundabout because i needed to take the 3rd exit, i checked all mirrors and changed lane in good time because the car coming behind me was a good distance away but there was traffic on both lanes anyway so the examiner said i caused the vehicle behind to stop but we needed to stop anyway because there was traffic infront of us? If you could give me any insight please?
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to comment. If you force anyone who has priority over you to "Slow down, serve or Stop," the examiner will have no choice but to fail you. Your options are, Slow down IN YOUR LANE, letting the car overtake and then changing lane. Although you are slowing the driver behind you down, you can not fail as YOU HAVE PRIORITY over them. The other option, although the examiner has asked you to turn right, is to continue to go straight. Again you can not fail for going in the wrong direction. I failed three days ago I would of passed but I stopped at a give way sign when it was my right of way because A car didn’t stop so I stopped he stopped further past where he should of and I then set back off but I failed on it because of not “reading signs” which I fact I did read the sign I stopped because it wasn’t safe to continue. Ridiculous then when I got to test centre she was like it’s a shame because your an amazing driver.. FYOU

just failed second time and that driving centre BLACKBURN WITH DARWEN is rigged my sister failed 4 times there and passed first time at another centre they are picky AF and failed me twice for things that should be minors.

With Mirror's always make sure you are kissing the parrot so the examiner can see .

In my opinion you did nothing wrong and you just had a bad luck to get stupid examiner.

You should always be on the left hand lane unless overtaking or planning to turn right. You can fail for being in the wrong lane. Good luck. DTC

How about using mirrors when driving HGV and there is not a centre mirror?
do you also meant to check right blind spot when changing lanes on dual carriageways?
You don't need to check fully in the blind spot when changing lane - just move you your chin to shoulder for quick check. DTC UK
