It's safer to reverse into a bay and then drive forward out as you'll have better visibility. But sometimes you might find that driving forward into a bay and then reversing out is more convenient.
In this video, we look at how to do forward bay parking and reversing out, which you might be asked to do on your driving test.
We have a look at how to drive forward into a bay on the left, right, between vehicles and how to correct the bay parking if it goes wrong.
All reference points shown might look different to you as it depends on what car you're driving, seat position and height, but they will be similar.

I wish I could say the same. My examiner's an asshole and I'm not just saying that because he's failed me. He heightens your nerves instead of easing them. I'll be getting my licence someday regardless.
I had my test last week. Literally the first think I did moving off was lift my foot up off the clutch too quickly and I shot forward, almost hitting another parked car. Thought I had failed already but I tried not to let it affect me and if I wasn’t going to pass I’d at least use the opportunity as practise for the next time. I actually passed with 5 minors!

I passed my test few days ago, first time with 3 minors, I did a parallel park on my test, didn't have any trouble doing bay park on any of my lessons, only did it about 4 times but was perfect everytime so i thought it was easy enough, first time on own forgot my reference points, glad i seen this video as it's helped refresh my mind, parked perfect next time
i'm feeling a lot more confident about my lesson this week even though iv had a few lessons and done bay parking before, sometimes successful and others not. its been a tricky one for me trying to remember the reference points and techniques when theres people around and your instructor is expecting you to nail it this time

I passed my test!! I had the reverse Bay Park manoeuvre, right at the end of the test as I was pulling into the test centre it felt like I make or break situation! I had to restart it but in the end I did it the best feeling in the world, next to giving birth!! 😅

This is absolutely bang on! Well it is for me as I drive a Honda Civic Vetec and I've always been reversing into bays but sometimes it is not always convenient to do so. So the reference point for turning into the bay I want in my car is the door handle, tried it yesturday at supermarket and it was bang on first time! Just remember though as the instructor says in this video that your reference point for turning in might be different so drive slowly first and take care. Great video and excellently explained.

I did this a couple of lessons ago and it was the worst. I struggled so hard, especially the steering but now if i need to do it again for future lessons (got my 14th lesson tomorrow) then at least i'll have more confidence from watching this video. Thank you~

HELLO!! your videos are so helpful!! I think a lot of people would also benefit alottt from a free driving video made by you chris, with camera's down on the cloth and gear stick, and maybe then you do checks using the rear-view mirror to look at your eyes doing checks if that makes sense! To summarise, just saying I really think a free driving video by you chris being about half an hour 20 minutes long would really help! Doing a variety of things, doesn't have to include everything!

2nd I just trusted I knew what I was doing and passed so maybe take thatbinto consideration
