I am a career nanny (30 + years) that just started baby sign language 10 years ago with all of my charges. It is a huge game changer! Help, in my opinion, is the sign that cuts down on frustration the most. My current charge is 17 months and has at least 50 signs and is talking like crazy the past couple of months. When we're out people can't believe how verbal she is. :) I LOVE baby sign!
As I’ve mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I’ve been teaching my great-nephew asl. Singing animal songs and teaching manors. I didn’t think he was paying attention for the most part. I took him for a walk last week and my neighbor behind us stopped us to talk. And Alexander wanted to walk so he was signing walk. Then he told my neighbor away Andy my neighbor said he’s pushing me away. I said he is saying away in sign language. Then I said now he’s telling me he is done and wants to walk. The boss has spoken. ✌🏻❤️🙂🙏
I've been volunteering at my church's nursery for several years now. This last week, a little boy signed "more." I didn't know what it was, but another adult did. Both the little boy and the other adult knowing that sign allowed communcation which prevented a massive meltdown. As a result, here I am on TH-cam binging all the ASL content I possibly can so I can be a better caretaker and (eventually) a better mom.
I love signing with my babies. My 1 years old can tell me, more food please, more blue berries ( her favorite) all done, and so much more. It's so much fun to watch her communicate. Its crazy how fast they pick up sign language.
I don’t have children. It will help all single/married moms to learn many baby sign language so they can make their babies to understand it. Thanks for your hard work. 🙂🙂👍👍
I love this! I'm learning to sign as an elementary school teacher because some children can't communicate verbally, regardless of their hearing ability, and need other ways to communicate. I'd LOVE to see more videos geared towards kids!
I know that this is an old video, but I'm so grateful that I found your channel! I recently found out that my daughter's on the spectrum. My family has been learning basic signs while waiting on more appts and it's made a world of difference when she gets too overwhelmed out to use verbal words. I just sent this to all the aunties and uncles😊 Thank you so much! Your lessons are always so clear and easy to understand❤
I would start even sooner like 2/3 months even. Whenever you talk to her! Helps to wire your brain to use them regularly! Because by 6 months she could probably start using milk for example if she had already learned it!
My great niece baby signed her first complete sentence to me when she was 11 months old! That was so exciting. My son is expecting a child in a few months, and I'm dusting off my baby sign so I can use it with the baby.
Love this so much!! When I was a wee little one I learned some baby sign! Then I took ASL up to level III in high school definitely want to brush up on my sign for college!
My little girl is 19 months and has been doing these signs and others and its been the best thing ever! I understand what she wants and we have very few meltdowns thanks to that. My favorite is "ouch" right now. Whenever she hurts herseld she will sign "ouch", ill sign "ouch where?" And she will point at where it hurts and ill kiss it.
as a n impaired adult: this should be posted with effective closed captioning. Its for deaf people and not clear or accurate. Mindfulness practice and interpersonal effectiveness
My baby was born with amniotic band syndrome, so he has only one hand. Thanks for mentioning that baby hands will just do their best. I’ll be interested to see how he adapts the signs for himself.
I've been teaching (myself and) my daughter ASL and she LOVES food signs! I'd love to see more foods! Maybe some nursery rhymes or common books too (similarly to how you signed through the Lord's prayer in your church signs video). Awesome videos thank you so much for all that you do!
Just recently found out my partner is pregnant, maybe with twins, and we want to teach them ASL as much as possible (I'm slowly learning too). Not because anyone in my family is deaf/hard of hearing, but we do live/work near Galudet University! There is a large community here and it would be helpful to know so we can help people out. Also I'm getting old and one day may need it myself! XD
We have a TV that when idle shows Photos of my daughter, which she is fascinated with, especially baby photos, so she really likes the sign "baby". She's still non verbal, she mostly communicates with sounds and sign, "dada"= happy, "mama"=sad, and baba=tired. But she signs for food, more, drink, and sleepy, go outside, and baby just fine. She's also good at all done and book, and she's starting to get the hang of play. But nowadays she's really attached to the sign for baby, she signs it when she sees kids younger than her in the store or at the playground, as well as when she sees photos or video of babies.
Taught my son “milk” for nursing and he started using it at about a year old before he learned to ask for Boobie 🤣 he’s learned how to sign please and thank you now at the age of 19 months and it is my favorite. So precious. I love signing with him
Hi, 2 years late, but I'm teaching my 1 y/o nephew to talk. Are there any additional tips and advice? Ah, 5:48 answered my question. Thanks. Although, I want to teach him the word Uncle
Your channel is TRULY an ANSWER to PRAYER!!! 😭🙌🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 My BFF and her beautiful baby live on the opposite coast. We've been coordinating our schedules so I can video chat to teach them baby signs. This is the PERFECT jumping-off place! 😁👍🏾 thank you! Thank You!! THANK YOU!!!🤗❤️🤟🏾
My son put both hands on his belly and he pulls it away to the side like the opposite motion of more (sign language). I can’t figure it out what it means. I was thinking full or done but I don’t know.
For impaired adults that might be deaf this might not be for you… you should have already learned sign language. This is for someone that doesn’t know sign language and wants to find a way to communicate with there babies
Yes this is the sign for bed. Sleep can be signed a few different ways. For the purpose of teaching babies, this sign for sleep is more iconic and easier to produce.
I strongly disagree.. i know many parents who used sign language to communicate and stalled speech development of their children. Currently a friend of mine has a daughter turning 3 who still does not speak, and now shes at that point of frustration because the other children try to communicate with her and she can not.. I think there is a fine line when using it, and if your not careful it becomes the first language which is NOT widely practised in children.. If your going to use it, speech should be encouraged along with it.
My daughter got on the bandwagon with this fad. My grandchild is almost two, now, and looks like an autistic child. If you d9n't sign to her she ignores you and walks away.

I think it's a great idea for babies to learn.
It is!

6months
This was a great video. Thanks for the hard work.

Excellent video! thank you very much!
I love your videos! Please keep them coming
Great video, very articulate and easy to understand. 👍
This is a great video in every way! God Bless you always ❤❤❤
I love using sign language w my baby 💜
Thank you for sharing.
Whenever me and my sisters were babies or when she was babysitting, she would try and get the baby to sign more in ASL
So helpful thank you!
With one handed signs does it matter if you use your left or right hand?
do you certify people in sign language
We plan to offer a course for more intense practice that one could receive a certification of completion.
I would love to be certified
Thanks 🙏
I am a left handed person. Is it okay to sign using my left hand, or do I need to use my right hand only?
Yes use your left hand! The rule is to use your dominate hand.
Thank u for this ♥️

Awesome video! Thank you!
Are there planet signs? Or do I just fingerspell?
Have you found another source for the answer to your question?
When can I start sign language with my baby? He’s currently 2 months old
Some babies can start producing a couple of signs as early as 5 months, so introducing it to them before then for sure.
@@LearnHowtoSign thank you!!
At what age should I start?
Two of my grandsons were born deaf so these are useful
How do you sign grandma? 🥰🥰
