I've been playing the electric guitar for what, 16 years now ? I still don't understand how in hell he can sing while playing this song. There is no denying it. Dave is a god.
I'd say some ppl are somehow naturally good at singing while playing. I've been playing guitar for a year and singing for a few months and I can play this song while singing. So yeah idk, I've never found doing both things at the same time hard. The hard part is mastering both individually before doing them together, imo
It's just about keeping rhythm and do it separately. I can sing holy wars, etc. while playing. It's just about good rhythmic riffing, then you lay vocals
Singing? Never heard a live recording where he doesn't need an excuse for yelping, wheezing mumbling out of time and tune and out of breath..God in a studio, dog on a stage
It's because it is the last track on an album where every song is fucking brutal. It takes years to get over the awesomeness that are Holy Wars and Hangar 18. And then you realize that the next 4-5 songs are just as good, and then there is the Tornado solo. And then finally one realizes that the last song is among the best the band has ever written. But yeah, what a fucking incredible song. And yes, especially that riff.
what amazes me is HOW the hell he came up with these sick riffs, paired with intellectual lyrics, all in the F# position or tonality or whatever u call it and he didn't run out of ideas from that specific riffing position since almost all his songs are derived from that position (and there was Amerikhastan! a hell of a chromatic exercise made into a sickass metal tune with lyrics that will scramble UN). Playing or covering it is one thing since its already there, but composing it is the deal for me.
This is an insanely difficult song to play and sing at the same time, ngl. Riff is kinda complex on it's own, but manageable. But vocals are on a completely different time and metric.
Dave sounds like he is in pain when he is singing. He could have downtuned half step or whole step (how they play now) and it would have sounded way better.
I hate to be the one to say it, but the truth- is that those microphones are not even turned on. I noticed (hence word _noticed_ , since i was not _looking_ for anything to begin with) at 2:44 , Junior goes to sing the backing vocals but you literally cannot hear it, to which he realizes and then walks away. Then immediately after at 2:55 you can clearly see Daves head sway away from the microphone, yet theres no fading of his voice at all, it just looks off. Sorry but its not fooling me.
They are not off, but the recorded concert has postproduction work where they fix the details of the voice, if you watch other concerts like rock in rio you can clearly hear how dave can't sing the song well and sounds like mickey mouse.
@@Bryancmillsii has the music symbol so he probably knows what he’s talking about, and this kid is those kids that see a popular comment and type it again
@A guy you can trust That makes total sense, and so sarcasm. Most musics with a more of a 30 years old career fall in alcoholism or drugs, he didn't and I respect it a lot.
Are you serious? Almost every Megadeth fan or listener agrees that most of their songs are way better without the vocals. Even a devoted Megadeth fan like me would agree
I'm one of the few who absolutely love Dave's vocals. I had to take some time to get used to it, but I just pow the raw aggression of it. I' just glad he uses his real voice instead of autotune.
if they still has menza at this time then maybe they wouldve played it right. menza had so much more energy than this guy and was honestly just a better player

The good think is that they perform this song after 20 years
They had to since they were doing the whole album
What think?
bro you're high get some rest
I love Dave's voice, the growls, the nasally tone, it's perfect for Megadeth.
It's so cool how he can do the "Polaris voice" and the "normal" voice
This song is such an underrated gem. For sure one of my top 5 Megadeth songs of all time. That riff at 4:01 is fucken badass.
Same here, the lyrics combined with the music is fucking perfect
true i fkin love this one
I've been practicing that riff for over 20 years and still can't quite get it on point lol
Yeah. My fav too.... N other underrated song like Reckoning Day, The Killing Road haha

he did a great job here for sure
I don't know quite why, but that chorus riff gets me fired up. Dave is still one of the best on the axe
Cuz it’s a heavy ass riff that’s why
its a riff that personifies impending doom

Spyros wtf u guys, that concert was nutz
The drover era of megadeth is so underrated in my opinion. Very disciplined and technical players
I always thought his drum sound sucked ass, but he was pretty solid. I just can’t get past how shit his drums sounded
Its just Shawn Drover here (the drummer). The band had Chris Broderick as guitarist here
I think he's drumming is top notch but just lacks the hard hitting of Nick Menza
One of the best Deth riffs

HOW CAN DAVE SING AND PLAY AT THE SAME TIME
Well he isn't the first one that did it the names like eric clapton jimi hendrix and so on
@@beratsakir1603 my friend, these are difficult riffs to play and sing at the same time.
You mean God?
Technically, it is mostly talking with a rough voice. But to answer it, you just need to have talent, experience, practice, and years of making music

Man I'm glad Shawn Drover was sacked, he was lackluster and so was his brother Glen. Megadeth is doing awesome now in 2021
I thought they did a great job while they were with the band but I can't deny that Megadeth has had better players
Shawn couldn’t keep the power of several Megadeth’s songs
