Have you ever had to climb up on the roof to clear out leaves and branches?!

    • @RyanGr33n
      @RyanGr33n 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

There’s a sort of plastic screen behind the vent to keep large debris out of the cover. You’ll only get stuff under there if it’s smaller than 1/8” or if it somehow gets jammed under the bottom edge of the cover, like if you drag some branches along the roof or something. You’ll still probably want to pop them off and clean them out once in a while, there’s nothing keeping spiders and such from getting up under there.

Great video! Just a suggestion for anyone installing these, put the carriage bolts through the bracket before attaching the bracket to the vent. Might make it easier for some people instead of possibly forcing the bolt in after and maybe damage some caulking! 👍

10 minutes doing it? it takes me 20 minutes to find the tool that I had in my hand a second ago.

I've got 2 of these to install on our new grand design and was real worried about it. After watching this video I'm real Not Worried. You made it look super easy. Thank you!

Same on my Rockwood RV. Strange they wouldn't include these from the factory. I'm always worried about leaving one of my vents open now and getting rain inside my trailer. I'll be adding these shortly

Good job. good to see no drilling holes into the camper roof.

Great diy video! I’m going to do my camper now after watching this video. Local RV center wants $300 +- to do two MaxAir vents.

I bought some dicor tape. Would it be advisable to use this or is that overkill?

ok I know this is an old thread i hope you get this! Ive installed my maxx air vent and the super cool cover over each of my fans. It was way worth it! wireless remote works great! plus if I open a back window (fan is in the front of the rv) and turn it up and set it to suck air out of the rv you can actually feel a breeze! cools off the rv in no time! I also wanted to let you know that I did the install of the microair easy start and did the 5 start programming. now the little sucker actually works on my ryobi 1800 running and 2300 starting inverter generator. Yes i have no power left to speak of but can run lights and charge my batteries. The easy start install on my A/C (Dometic Duotherm) was so easy. it was clip 2 wires and plug it in easy. I am still going to get a second Ryobi and run them in parallel because i want to be able to make coffee and run my ice maker(need ice for mixed drinks) :) If you want my help with walking you thru (I am sure you will not need it) I will be happy to help.

That is so awesome to hear because Nadia was just saying we need to bite the bullet and do 2 more max air fans! We have the predator and it runs our ac so I think we’re all set there but I definitely need to be able to move air around!

Do you know the size of the bolts? I need to put mine back on after having my roof resealed and the guy left before putting them back on. I am not sure if the bolts are still threaded through. Just in case I was wondering what the bolt size where and also do the washers have the grip up or down? Thank You!

So you dont caulk around the bottom? Theres a big gap all around it. We dont want bugs getting in, hence the "insect shield" on the face of the hood

Excellent how-to-video! I was not too sure about the carriage bolts as I thought they had to be drilled through the roof! Having viewed the instructional video I am quite at ease with fitting the MAXXAIR vent. Is there any need to put sealing pitty around the exisisting vent housing?

  • @lanceschul

When you drill into the flange for the brackets dies the flange have to be metal or will it work on a plastic flange. The fan I’m ordering (Starvent) looks like the flange is plastic but I’m not sure. Your looks like metal.

Great install! I just got a New Trailer but have you considered caulking the bolts that are attached to the vent itself? I am installing mine today but may caulk it to prevent water from climbing its way to the screws while traveling. Not sure if it is necessary but why take that risk :) ?

What a great video that explained it in easy to understand terms! I am replacing the MaxxAir covers so the hardware is already in place. I think the ones in the video will fit right on the existing hardware. Here in the arid west Texas desert, the aridity, heat, and harsh conditions make anything not metal, very brittle after several years and the Mother's Day hailstorm we had here took them out. I like these newer models. Thanks for the wonderful instructions!

FYI It's Screw>>Lock Washer>>Washer ALWAYS.. If you put the lock washer on after the washer, theres a good chance the lock washer won't set properly and may even go into the mounting bracket/hole defeating its purpose.
