    My CFX-28 has been running nonstop off an old Yeti 400 SLA for 3 years straight now. The Yeti gets charged when I drive and when I dont, there's a 100w panel on the roof. My fridge/GZ has never died even during the pandemic when I don't drive for days. In the mornings my Yeti is usually around 70-80% and by noon sitting in the sun it's back to full charge.

      Nice yeah I was surprised how well it did with the 50 watt panel!

      @Nguyen is your 12v car outlet connected straight to your yeti and then your yeti to your fridge at all times? Meaning you only charge the yeti while driving and then fridge just benefits from that while connected to the Yeti?

      @@schwarznet That's correct. Except I took it a step further and have a 100w solar panel on the roof as well. So the Yeti 400 gets charged via the truck when it's running (Yeti 12v charge cable) and from the 100w panels when the truck is not running. I have the two combined using the goal zero 4x 8mm combiner cable so both 12v charger and solar panels are always plugged in. The fridge is exclusively plugged into the goal zero so it never ever gets power from the starting battery, it's completely isolated from it. Hope that helps!

      @@schwarznet Also since I still have two extra 8mm input ports from the 4x combiner cable, I do have a foldable 100w panel that i sometimes used if we're camped for a long time somewhere where the truck is parked in the shade (like a national park) and I can also plug in the original yeti 120v wall charger if i'm somewhere that has RV plugs. With the way it's setup, i still never ever need to unplug the roof mounted panel or the 12v charger. And the fridge still never ever needs to be unplugged from the Yeti. It's a pretty sweet setup. I have no intention of changing it anytime soon. Thought about using the new Yeti 500x but I do like my old Yeti400 better because I can swap out the internal seal lead acid battery when it dies whereas I believe the 500x will be a brick if the battery ever dies.

      @@schwarznet the yeti and the dometic are both plugged into the truck while driving. When I arrive at camp I turn my truck off and swap to only using the yeti with solar panel

    Greetings .you think the 500x and 50a nomad would keep the cfx3 25 at freezer for a few days ?

    • @DrewDayToday
      @DrewDayToday  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I belive so as long as you have enough sunlight and adjust your panel accordingly. Also make sure the freezer is completely topped off, and dead space will keep the fridge working extra which will drain battery

    @DrewDayToday This is a great test of these products all working together! I have a similar setup but with the Paxcess Rockman 120 panels. Quick question since it looks like you've had your Goal Zero unit for awhile. I'm on a replacement one but both units had a strong "plastic" smell when using them. GZ customer service said the smell was caused by a a flame retardant spray internally. Have you come across this with your machine? They said it would eventually go away but it's so strong that I don't think I could leave it running in an enclosed area for long. Thanks again for the great video!

    I just got this exact setup I’m have some issues it will be running smoothly and I’ll come back and the fridge is off and the yeti 500x shows a red light in the 12v cigarette location. Not sure if the port on the yeti is slightly bigger then the dometic 12v plug. But something is Tripping the yeti

      Do you have your settings on the Dometic battery settings in Low? Make sure your goal zero isn’t in direct sunlight or too hot. I’ve never had this issue and I’ve used the 12v cig port.

      @@warlord385 I had this same situation happen twice in the last 24 hours. GZ Customer Service said that the Dometic Cooler is trying to pull too much power from the GZ even though the temp was pretty consistently 34 degree F the whole time. They had me reset and try to reproduce. Fingers crossed it works going forward.

      I've had the same issue non stop since I've had this setup. It shuts off randomly with the red light. Its a pain because I have to check it constantly. I tried the same fridge with a bluetti and the same 12v car cable and the same thing happened. When I change the cable it didn't happen anymore. So its either the cable since the same cable caused the same issue on both the yeti and bluetti or its the yeti. I haven't tried a different cable with the yeti one yet. Any other solutions?

    Your solar panels are not set up properly. You loose a lot of performance.
