This is my general opinion of why DJI osmo action 4 is my preferred device at times over using a phone or mirrorless camera.

Do you require your DJI Phone app to take videos and still shots, or is the camera independent of the DJI app? Great video!

You do not need the app to operate the camera. U can operate the camera entirely with the buttons and touch screen on both side of the camera. But if I remember correctly, you will need the app to register and activate the camera and do firmware updates. Cheers.
