The new 2022 updates on this model really take it up a notch for me. The first impression with the new exterior really sets the stone. Towing safety continues to be something upon which Jayco is focusing as the JaySMART safety lighting and Goodyear tire combo is joined by rear and side view camera prep which allows for the potential of full observation suites!
The layout of this 195RB Jayco RV is fantastic offering a walk around front bed like a larger travel trailer & impressive storage. The update to feature the modern farmhouse decor in this series is a VERY welcome one in my book as it lightens and brightens things up nicely!!
The kitchen has also been changed to feature a full size 2-door fridge -- roughly twice as large as the fridge used in last year's model!

Definitely! Go with a 12V Fridge.
Only if you plug in or run generator. If you’re gonna boondock, it’s worthless.
Josh said Gas/elect, so it would be great if that’s run on LP.
You pretty much need solar if you boondock with a compressor fridge.
Imo l feel a Murphy bed would b a benefit for this small trailer. But it's cute.
This is really nice, I love the farmhouse decor. I prefer the door closer to the bed though in case of emergency at night. I also wish RV manufacturers would give an option for an off road package, larger tires, brush guard, lift. Etc. Most people today in this price market want to boondock and go off road.
They are offering some of that in the new STX package that’s coming out soon!
I'm old school so I don't really care about the camera prep, but I really like the way they do the trailer lights. I think its really important, especially if you drive at night.
Love the side air conditioning instead of the roof top Ac .
Ty is is aged footage. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but they only offer roof air on these now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
what would really do this camper well would be the inclusion of shelf rails from the factory into the closet to allow the user to convert all or part of it into a shelf cabinet for folded clothes or more pantry space.
Yeah that's a glaring omission, considering they basically came up with that convertible shelf idea with the flip up shelf they have in other models.
Thought exactly the same thing watching the video. You could use plastic bins but that gets old fast.
Love the idea. Ty
Ya for sure
I just replaced that lower shelf in our StarCraft version with real plywood and added support. We have 2 four drawer plastic storage units from Walmart sitting on the shelf as storage. Built in shelves are more useful than being able to hang stuff. A fair trade for that bigger fridge!
I left a comment 3 days ago on how much I liked this small trailer. As a future solo traveler weight is important, I wanted to stay around the 3500 GVW range (this one is GVW 3750), so today I took a road trip a state away to check one out. I wanted to be sure that a small Jayco still had the quality build as they put in their bigger ones. I'll be honest, I was a little worried cause to make a trailer lighter sometimes corners get cut. I was not disappointed! Still had the solid build. Cabinets were built solid. I stepped into the shower and it had a good solid floor. Surprised the bed mattress was of a good quality, I wouldn't have to swap it out. The cushions on the dinette were thick and comfortable. More than enough inside storage. The outside storage door very solid. I'm not a big decal/graphics person, but I'll agree with Josh these were well done and I actually liked them. I've checked out a lot of light weight trailers and they can be compact, for a small trailer this still felt roomy. If you're looking for a light weight trailer for one person or a couple, I encourage you to go and physically check this one out, you'll be happy you did.
Ty for sharing this. Excellent read!
I’ll take a 12V fridge any day. I want to keep my fridge running while I am on the road without the danger of leaving my propane on.
Safety features are very important!
this is the exact build my wife and I are looking at, the larger fridge is most needed for us, if the 12v was available now, that is the preferred. I really like the side mount AC, we also prefer a dinette. For us, a murphy bed or E/W bed is not an option. The lack of a slide makes the wife happy.
hello; Respectfully a suggestion for Jayco...at around 6:50, u show the countertop with the 3 dimensional panel below it...the sink and stovetop are to the left, and the cabinet space underneath...meaning to the right of the sink, they have space to incorporate a utensil drawer in that 3-dimensional face panel under the counter but above the lower doors...think people would like a small drawer there. otherwise, nice smaller camper. Thank You
100% on board with this. Ty
No excuse for any manufacturer not to install a shower surround. That would make this and many other compact campers perfect! Thanks josh as always 👍
Always our pleasure!!
We love our Jayco! We have a 379 DBFS. It's a unicorn. And you Josh, we love you too, thank you for the walk through 💯
Oh wow! I remember that one! Hope you have a good time
Those safety features ARE important especially to newbie rv campers, thanks for asking!
Like the larger fridge. Love the tub. What we would really like to see is a Murphy bed with a couch or cinema seats.
Either early morning or late afternoon filming - always giving us your full effort Josh!
Just toured one of these this past weekend. As a tall guy I need the extra height and this fits the bill. The extra lights and camera mounts are awesome and as a soon to be first time RV’er, I think this this is perfect entry-level unit for us.
Great to hear. Hope we were able to help bring you more info thru this video as well :)
I have the 2018 version of this and they have come a long way! Raising the ceiling height was the best overall improvement in my opinion. I'm 6'1" and constantly hit my head on the antenna adjuster in the 2018 version. This model has more storage than my girlfriend and I have ever come close to using, even on trips as long as two weeks, so I would be happy to trade the pantry space for a bigger fridge. Opening up underneath the sink also provides a much more convenient storage space for items I would typically store under the dinette.
The larger grab handle and propane quick connect are both great additions. The entry door window looks great, but I agree should be factory standard to have the shade. I hate that they removed the front window, as it makes such a small camper feel much larger. I would love to see them put an oven in these as well. I am very happy with mine, but with all the updates like ceiling height, electric water heater, solar prep and 12v fridge, I think it may finally be worth upgrading!
Awesome feedback from a real owner! Thank you for taking the time to look and share!
We never use the front window on our 2016 StarCraft version of this model. Keeps the bed area darker as we find the blind a bit of a hassle up there.
This needs the front shelf between the 2 bed cabinets like ours came with. That little extra storage is great.
The white farmhouse decor looks great in the little trailer. I also think the smaller kitchen stove and sink is a preferable trade off for counter space in a camper of this size.
Agree on both accounts. Overall I think it’s a great generational improvement
Some moveable shelves in the closet and under sink basket on the left would be nice adds.
So nice to see something other than brown, brown, brown! Like the floor plan and the storage. Closet needs adjustable/removable shelves to make it multipurpose. A counter extension in the kitchen would be nice and allow for a larger sink-that sink is tiny.
I like those ideas. Both pretty easy aftermarket add ins thankfully
Nice Nice. Excited to see the other models in the SLX lineup!
I just bought this one and sent jayco an email asking if I can buy the parts for the cold kit to insulate and heat the floor.... I've stayed in it a couple weeks. I love this camper.... if you're looking for a camper to SHAG in this guy is it i'm telling you I'm batting 1000 in this baby.... girls love it
Shagen wagon !
As a Georgian, I can say that 7000% humidity at 95° is rough.
I spent some time living in Americus, Georgia
I’ll never forget that humidity
You DRINK the air
I also live in Georgia 7000% humidity and 95 degrees is a good day during the summer (April to November).
Just purchased a new 2022 at a show in Lansing. Thank you so much for your videos. They were informative and helped us pick out our new trailer. Still coming out to the Novi show to meet you!
Lookin forward to meeting! Mind dropping me a quick review at g.page/r/CdPcitNVx2nDEAg/review in return for the hand in helping you make that decision?

Wow, just wow!
SLX is now a serious option for me, these updates address everything I really didn't like about the previous model. With how ridiculously light this is my Tacoma could pull this without issue. Nailed it!
That’s awesome to see. Ty for sharing Jim!!
It is also our 1st choice for a travel trailer. I love the layout and the N/S bed along with the farmhouse colors. Very good size for a retired couple. I was just wondering about the size vehicle so thanks for saying Tacoma. That helps nail it down for us.
That's a Really Nice Small Travel Trailer, Great Layout all the way around 👍👍👍👍👍
This is a terrific solo camper for the ladies. No overpriced Cutie Cute paint job and marketing.
That is what I'm talking about!👍😉
Absolutely agree!!
Aye! 12v fridge!👍🏻 Extra safety is always a bonus. The Jayco safety package is a deciding factor (one of many) for me.
That bathroom is great with the small tub very necessary at times, wish the stove was closer to a window for ventilation
Kinda also feel it should of been with 4 wheels for stabilization the floor plan is great tho
Some one should totally buy me one of these
Buy one for me & I'll buy one for you! 😉
Its nice but also not so nice. I would have to turn the closet into a pantry and build shelfs. Love the north to south bed.
It needs 2 things.....a bathroom sink, and a comfortable chair instead of a bench to sit on, then it would be perfect. Wouldn't mind a double axle version too as an option for better stability and payload.
I love the side air conditioner.
On the new ones those are no longer available as it turns out. They went only to the roof air.
Josh, this new Jayco SLX looks awesome. I do like the new look and the bigger fridge.
Agree here as well
Hey thanks for another great video you always do a great job pointing out the good and not as great. About the a/c I need one with enough btu to cool a but as big as a tub.
If I was in the market for an RV, I would consider this one.
Love the ac. Looks simple.
👍👏
Is there a way a small peeper window can be added to the wall above the sink counter area? We like having a window along the kitchenette area. It reduces the cramped feel of that side of the camper.
They won’t add extra windows at the factory unfortunately
I think this is a perfect couples camper. I also think that this RV has a enough room to fit a very small crib if you’re also bringing a baby along but you would have get rid of the table NOT the seats 🙃
Great review 👍
20K Price Unbeatable Deal 😱😱
Like the Floorplan ❤️ and design ❤️
No slide 🙏🛐
Great triler i joyiced one other thing the toilet is to close to tub they could moved it over abot 4 inches would help
Hi Josh - I have the 2020 195RB Baja and prefer it over the new model. The pantry would be hard to give up as it's great storage and I noticed they got rid of the front window. I would recommend Jayco do a radius on the side cabinets around the bed. They really dig into my back when making the bed! Thanks for all your reviews!
I like the suggestion ty
The best place to mount tv in this thing is over the left (drivers) side window in bedroom part so it swings out to dinette and to bed area it’s perfect mourning location for multiple uses of tv
Agreed actually
Jayco is top notch!
I have always liked this one
Great little camper Josh, but I prefer a tandem axle , but the single would not be deal breaker in this model.
I'm thinking I'd take the 12V frig option any chance I could.
Personally I am the same
Ditto
Several questions, how much height does an optional roof A/C add? Can a second 20# propane tank be added to the tongue? along with dual batteries? Even though this is a single axel, it’s so light weight and at only 7’ wide this is a great couple’s camper. And if it's optioned with fiberglass skin, then it would be an AWSOME couple’s camper. Does it have a black tank flush? Respectfully, WS
* extra height: not sure. Jayco doesn’t provide specifics
* 2nd propane: not from the factory. Not hard aftermarket
We have a 2016 StarCraft AR-One extreme 18qb which is essentially the same layout. I would love the full fridge from this version. We use that entry closet as storage with some drawers added to it.
The one thing I noticed with this one is the shorter awning. I prefer ours which has the awning extending further forward between the bed window and cargo door.
All versions need a "driver side" cargo door as that compartment is bigger than it looks and it's still a pain to access that side from under the bed!
Cheers!
Ty Sean. Happy camping buddy
Hi
Josh .really nice tt. Loveing the light colors.
I love the entry door to the back
I like the storage you get out of this one vs. most of the front-door models by the bed
We owned a 2018 Bc of the bed- only kept one year mostly due to the fridge- nice to see
I wish there was a way they could add an optional sofa
/ recliner situation instead of the booth dinette. And a double axle.
I’d be all for it
Sweet, simple, clean looking, bright & cheerful little unit ~ really like it! The large fridge is perfectly fine, as long as you don't mind storing much of your dry foods inside of it. (As kitchen storage is less plentiful.) Then again, how many people cook completely from scratch while camping? But, suppose you could put some kind of small shelving unit under the sink to store bulky food items - certainly the most open space I've ever seen in a camper this size, a definite wow! :)
Silly as it sounds I never considered keeping dry goods in the fridge but. Yeah. It works!!
Regarding fridge. I keep all food, even dry goods in the fridge.
You know.. I never really considered that. Ht I don’t see why it would hurt anything
12v fridge. Yes!
Love this camper. love your videos.
Love your comments. Camper loves you 😆
Could put on a longer awning. Really nice upgraded kitchen. Still the best kitchen in its class with smart placement of the sink and stove. I would love a 12volt fridge and roof top air. It would be nice for Jayco to offer some premium packages or options with the SLX 7 series. Better foam, a shower surround, medicine cabinet. We have a 145rb we love the front window this is going to be our next camper
I would be open to that idea. I think maybe that’s where the feather micros come in like this one m.th-cam.com/video/OPLwS2z6T1A/w-d-xo.html&pp=sAQA
I like the layout an the option for the 12v fridge. There is only one thing that turns me off is the AC unit not mounted on the roof. BUT, you did make it known about the option for the roof mounted AC. That is much better. The side mounted AC unit just throws me off for weight distribution in my head.
The side ac doesn’t weigh enough to have any real effect on load distribution in the RV, but I get sometimes it’s more an issue of how it “feels” to you
I prefer the side mounted air conditioner over the roof top anytime! Much easier to get especially with the parts shortage going on, cheaper to buy and almost no chance of water leaks! I also prefer 12 volt fridge! 2 or 3 way fridges are junk, take forever to cool down, are 2 to 3 times more expensive, can't use them for everyday use, they are a potential fire hazard and hard to find because of parts shortage! My suggestion for the trailer is to have roller blinds instead pleaded, shower instead of tub, shower surround instead of wallpaper, couch instead of dinette and no skylight anywhere on the roof!
Nodding my head as I sit here reading this
@@JoshtheRVNerd Josh, what are your thoughts or feed back. I'm interest!
@@JoshtheRVNerd I do that to people all the time! Lol! I don't know if it's a good thing or not!
Our 2016 StarCraft version has the L dinette with a folding table that stores under the bed. Since we rarely use the inside seating it's perfect to hold our clothing bags. More floor room as well.
I like this trailer! This is my size trailer. I like the side mount AC. And the cleaner roof profile. My preference would probably be the standard brown interior, but this interior may work for me. It’s reasonably light, easy to maneuver and too, and with the single axle, it has more stylish and sleek design. The rounded corners on the cabinetry is a plus for me. Especially on the dinette. (How many times have you been stabbed by square dinner corners as you make your way around the entry door area?)
Love counter space/ no b/room sink
You touched on this in a previous episode, no backsplash or sidesplash for the stove. I also have noticed that you have a thorn in your side about the door window shade. I'm right there with you!
Yeah lol
Maybe I harp on it too much?
@@JoshtheRVNerd The cost of the door window shade is pennies compared to the overall price. Folks that don't want to use it, they'll leave it up....or un-instal it, and sell it to those who don't have one! ;)
I wanted to stay under 3,500 lbs. as max tow for my truck is 7500 lbs., but with only 250 extra pounds this is it. I'm impressed how Jayco has brought down the weight and still be built to last. I wanted a sofa but I could see pulling out the bench closest to the bed and putting a small lazyboy in it. I'd have a nice place to sit and still have a table to use to eat and use as work station. Also like the JaySMART Turn Signal & Reverse Travel Safety Lighting System, good job on that Jayco. Other lighter trailers I've seen were more teardropish so felt a little tight inside and this looks very roomy compared. For a single camper this is now my number 1 choice.
Ty Sir!!
A dual 20# tanks or a single 40# tank would be nice options for it.
I swapped out the single 20lb rack for a dual bottle on ours. Added a dual regulator too.
Nice size trailer for towing behind an average SUV. Do they have a smooth exterior option for this model?
Yes they do ($600), as well as a Baja package ($890). The roof mounted 13.5k air is a $413 option.
Wow! Ray is on it! Thanks for the hand buddy
Because of the small bath, Ditch the tub and go with a shower to give you more legroom on the toilet.
Wolf pup does something along those lines
We have this layout and the toilet works great this way. You can always leave the door open to stretch out. That said a powered roof fan would make a great addition.
Josh, why don’t you do a segment on how to manually retract slides if they fail. We just bought a new Grey Wolf 27DBH Black Label and love it. My dealer went over the process for closing the slide if it were to fail but many RV’ers I talk with have no idea. I truly appreciate your videos and please keep them coming.
That is something in my list of things to do actually. Ty for the suggestion
Adding this to my SUV towable list. I really like the updated fridge vs the hotel mini fridge from before. Does that bed have storage under it? Sorry if you showed that and I ADHD'd it out of memory before the end of the video.
Yep! Full storage below. I think we peeked it from the outside
12 v frig. Is there storage under the dinette or is it filled with mechanicals?
Storage
@10:45 what are the horizonal braces for? Not support i hope?
Put a Murphy bed Couch 🛋 and it’s a win
I like that idea. This is a good model for twin beds too
Love the farmhouse
Why does the kitchen not have a drawer?
There's room for one. One drawer couldn't have added that much cost to it. And I don't think you will ever find someone who wouldn't buy a trailer because it has a drawer.
Seems like they cheaped out on that one.
I would agree even one drawer would be nice
I like the side mounted AC standard!
For 2023 I believe that actually changed to all standard roof air btw :(
WOW! This Jayco grew legs at 12:00 minutes in.
Hahaha
What size vehicle is recommend for this model?
Many tow package SUVs will handle this one. Midsize pickups and larger certainly.
If you had a vehicle with more than 4,000lbs tow rating you'd be ok even with max cargo. If it had 5k tow rating and higher, then you'd definitely find the experience better when towing
Nice unit. Only drawback, I see, is the low number on cargo. Other than that, nice.
Thanks Josh ! Love this unit with the larger fridge !! Can a longer awning (one that goes down to just before the storage door) be ordered ? And do you know the length of the dinette folded down ? Also, we live in a colder climate so the wall AC would be fine for us....Are the wall mounted AC units 'noisier' than the ceiling mounted AC units ?? Thanks again !
Thanks for watching!
No factory awning swaps available
I don’t have dinette dimensions right now as my specs app is down and I am out of the office
One of our team could measure up for you
Our 2016 StarCraft version of this layout has the longer awning that goes up between the cargo door and window. Keeps the bed area shadier and more outside coverage. This was the first thing I noticed in the video.
@@spetch21 Nice...that's the way the awning should be...the smaller awning, and no plastic tub surround in bath, are cost cutting measures I'm sure....
@@gerard2620 we don't mind the tub. We use it to hold empty water jugs etc while traveling. The curtain ensures water stays inside the tub. Useful if there's a little one traveling and using that tiny dinette bed. Tub is easier to wash kids in!
It's a perfect layout for us as a couple's trailer out dry camping here on Vancouver Island.
Glad to see it has a propanus included!
Lololol
Hi Josh, a larger and more efficient 12 volt fridge should be better for all camper.
The turn signals i thought about if i bought a trailer i have 6 inch yellow led strips added at the top front and rear connected to turn signal amber you can see better that i know from my oldover the road truck driving days , plus that see down the side camera oh man , and full size fridge wow i almost bought one if those trailers here in mesquite years ago it was nice little trailer it was on sale cheap , but i backed out . Sweet trailer
Interesting add on idea. Ty
A Murphy bed would be a nice addition.
YES! totally
Looks like they have added magnetic latches on the cargo doors and a detachable power cord.
Yes on the 12 volt fridge also did you change your picture?why
Felt time for an update
The Jayco website says this sleeps up to 4. How would one configure that? I figure the dinette converts to a bed, but the fourth...?
I respectfully disagree. It's a 1-2 person camper with a small dinette for an individual little guest. MFG websites always act like EVERY dinette is a 2-person sleeper
I try to have a more grounded approach
@@JoshtheRVNerd good to know! I agree, looks great for 2. 3 would be ok if you don’t mind sacrificing the dinette (which we are fine with, since we generally eat outdoors while camping). 4 seems quite a stretch.
Mornin Josh!
Hey hey!
They need to start putting shower liners in these SLX 7 series.
I don’t think anyone is really going to argue that
I know they aren’t *needed,* but I also know I’d want one too
Great new fridge ! ,,,,,,12volt option .....
Yes 😊
I would say that pantry could be washer and dryer correct but in a trailer like this it would probably use up all of the freshwater I don't think the tank is big enough to even do one cycle
The cargo weight limit on this trailer is very low too.
Love your videos! You mentioned the octane 161 has an entry door of 30 inches. Is that standard for Jayco and the same for the 195RB?
I don't believe these little guys have that same door width. I believe this is closer to 26" but I haven't hard-measured
Would a 4 cylinder Toyota Tacoma Pre-runner pull this without damaging the auto-trans?.
I've been missing your videos and somehow got unsubscribed. Needless to say I hit that subscribe button and the bell. Glad to be back
Ty. That seems to happen with regularity on TH-cam completely at random
I wonder if the a/c opening can be enlarged for a bigger BTU a/c? I am in the South and the 8000 BTU will not cool sufficiently in July and August according to other RVers.
They have an option for a 13.5k roof air that will take the place of that ceiling vent around the kitchen :)
@@JoshtheRVNerd I know but it would be so nice and cheaper to be able to replace it myself without getting on the roof
12v all the way👍
Is this a 4 season model,if not smallest 4 season with dry bath Please
Nothing in this class is “four seasons
This is about as small as a true tested and proven model gets m.th-cam.com/video/DMNTCnOxiuo/w-d-xo.html
Or m.th-cam.com/video/YEvhvT5bCSM/w-d-xo.html
@@JoshtheRVNerd thanks
Since I'm unfamiliar with these things and their features I'd have to either go with popular opinion or your recommendations as to what type of frige etc... One thing I'm surprised about is the wall surrounds in the shower Don't look too water safe especially over time why not use a surround out of same stuff the tub is?
Lack of shower surround really isn’t a big deal. You just wipe the wall down real quick with your towel when done
I liked the video so much that I bought one in Brazil!!!
Wow congratulations! Please consider sharing a quick review for us at bit.ly/3sQtSlV
Might like our video. th-cam.com/video/WkVg6nJv1bU/w-d-xo.html
What do you guys do once someone purchases a rv? Do you have a video of this? Thanks
I don’t have a video specifically no
We test all electric and after systems and appliances then show you how all that works
I think the window in the door is new for 2022, correct? I remember that disqualified this model last year in my family. To refrain what every else says: Murpy option please, twin option please, couch instead of diner please.
Yes! New window in the door
Also ty for the extra info and requests
Murphy and twin are good ideas
