Akai's MPD series are great! The only problem is the sensitivity of the drum pads (even when the 'sensitivity' setting is max). This modification won't cost you anything but a bit of time.

Nice job. I don't have an MPD, but I have played on a friend of mine's and I could tell pads are not as sensitive I would want them to be, so that's a great hack :)) I would let my friend know about this.

I was confused, so to clarify, the top and bottom screws on the back have a wider thread and the rest have a tighter thread. All of the screws on the inside have the same wide thread, save for the 4 really tiny silver ones.

thats not electrical tape, thats painters tape. also i wouldn't recommend painters tape instead of electrical tape. you might as well tape layers of paper or something if you're going to use painters tape.
