- The mast got stepped today! It’s keel-stepped and I’ve secured it via the running rigging until the boat splashes, the bowsprit is repaired, and the bumpkin is installed. Then I’ll finish building and tuning the rig. Big thanks to Martin, Austin, and Brock who helped me so much in getting the mast to this condition, to Craig and Dylan who did an amazing job with the step (the mast fit perfectly) and other mast hardware, and to the crane operator, David, and all the other guys who were flawless in carrying out the operation. Thanks to Thanks to my mom and dad who supplied the running rigging, the wholesale price from Sailing Services for the standing rigging, and help with other big purchases, to Zephyrwerks for the sheeves, and to Isaac and the guys at the yard who lend a hand when I need it. Also thanks to Amy for filming a good bit of the mast stepping, and carrying the base of the mast. I’m thrilled with how it’s all turning out!

You keep me focused on my own boat . Come on folks sign up to be a patron.. she needs all the support we can give
Thanks 🙏 means a lot.
Have a look at Alluring Arctic Sailing 😊
@@philnicholls786 indeed their last release is release is epic
Your excitement level was palpable, as it should be. Stepping the mast is so important to get it done correctly. It's also a symbolic and psychological task. The boat is looking like a sailboat again and float day is getting closer. We are so happy for you and incredibly proud of you. Boom is sure growing, and your white shadow is never very far way. Very soon I'll be saying "Fair winds and following seas." A big group hug from all of us...
😃 it’s so exciting!
Congratulations on getting the mast up!
Thank you!
Amazed by your knowledge, skills and achievements. 👏
Thank you
Good morning Skipper..
Every day BETTER.
Go ahead with the interior wood, only LUSTRE with flannel ("Blem" polishes furniture with ceramics, you will find it in supermarkets)
The inner deck, once clean, apply Teak oil and wait about two days for the oil to soak into the wood and dry.
P.S. Very well done Nicole🎀🤩
Okay, thanks for this.

Congrats on stepping the mast. That's a real milestone. I have to think that it will feel likes it's downhill from here, even though you still have a ton of work left to do.
Big pieces that fall into place like this definitely make the other projects much less overwhelming. Thanks
Congratulations im so happy for you !!!!!!!!! Cant wait to see you back in the water. Great channel and vid!!!
Thank you!
Like a kid in a lollie shop , congratulations.
Haha! Yea, it felt so good!

Hi Nicole, I discovered this channel earlier today via your recent interview with Adventureman Dan. I wanted to acknowledge your determination and hard work towards achieving your goals. You are an inspiration to anyone who dreams of following a similar course. Good luck in completing the work still ahead and Godspeed in all your future adventures!
Thank you! I’m glad to have you tuning in
looking more like a sailboat every day !!!
Yes!!
Just introduced to your channel by Daniel's interview with you. 🤙 I'm finding your videos encouraging and informative. I, too, was stuck in Luperon for a couple years due to the need for boat repairs. Currently in USVI where it's easier to make money in the boating industry. Hope you get to continue on soon! 🤗
That’s awesome! I’m glad you eventually got out of here. Maybe I’ll see you out there!
Lovely video Amiga!!
Thank you!
All them guys helping, you owe them a couple beers later on 😊 🍺

I’ve been following you since we met in KW…and you are pretty much TH-cam famous now! Keep up the good work. I’m looking forward to your adventures after you splash.

Getting closer.

ahoy capn! ✊🏻🏴
Ahoy!
Great video. We need to get you to 20k subscribers!
Yes! Adventureman Dan’s video helped a good bit, less than 5k to go now haha
Even with the masses of work you’ve done I have a strong sense that this is only the beginning…. Can’t wait to see all that comes next for you and Artha 🙏
I know…. Haha. Seems that way a lot of the time. But easier days are ahead. Thanks for tuning in this whole time
It is so very good to see it all coming together! What a journey it has been, and all I have done is watch you work!
Thanks for tuning in and commenting!
A MASTive project, I get it 😊
Haha! Nice
Great achievement. Another step closer to launching the boat. Just a few tidy ups and you will be back on the water sailing again. I am going into the hospital next month to have my hernia repaired. So i will be slowed down for a while. Then at the end of the year be starting on the bigger projects.
Gerard.
Hi Gerard, hope the hernia repair goes well. Injuries are annoying but part of the process. You’ll be back at it soon. Good luck on your future projects, and thanks for tuning in
Well done! A very anxious time for any boat owner, but you kept calm (at least on the outside 😅) and everyone worked well together . Great job !
Agreed, it was a great team here putting the mast back up. Thanks!
Awesome! Watching with my 8 year old daughter!
Awesome! Good to know 😊
I finally caught up. After watching a couple of the recent episodes, I went back to the beginning and am now up to date. Great job!
Cool, thanks!
Hell with all those people helping. You definitely have a good stuff I mass pole now:-).... Hey i'm an old pirate, There is no way I cannot say something like that. Congratulations you did more work than I ever wanna do on a mass Is pole.
Hey Nicole, im new to your channel but have followed along your journey and am truly impressed with your determination to take on all the challenges you have now completed. Congratulations on your many accomplishments and skills Im sure youve learned. I find seeing your struggles and persistance to keep moving forward inspiring personally and so I want to help you by being a contributer and be a part of helping you to realize your dream, the freedom to sail Artha and see the 4 corners of the world. Cheers for now and congrats on installing your mast!
Hi, thank you for becoming a TH-cam member and commenting such encouraging words. It helps so much. I’m excited to continue sharing!
Woohoo! Congratulations!👍👍😻🥳
Thank you
Back in the day we just used a bridge over a inlet
44 foor mast...you can go on the intercoastal waterway, 65 is the limit here for bridges
Yup, it’s perfect
Awesome effort... Masts can be a pain..... One step to more back to the water.....
Thanks! Yes!
it always amazes me when people that are not that used to a mast without the shrouds connected, and the amount of stress i can hear in their voices .. i ve masted 100's of boats and can do it ALONE on a 30,32,33,34 ,37 and 40 footer . with a small mounted crane . its no stress just pop it on and its not going anywhere once stepped . the weight alone " especially on the hard " will hold it in place . i only work on thru deck , no on deck .
process is -> mast on .- then fore stay , the cap shrounds then rear then lowers . done .
cheers
Okay, I’m making note of the order of the rigging because I still need to connect the bottoms. Thanks
Soldier on my dear 🙏
Thanks
Hello, we are 2 yachts, 38 feet and 48 feet, steel Bruce Roberts.
Rebuilding on the hard, in Two Rocks marina, in Western Australia.
The plan is to sail home to the East Coast of Australia to Airlie Beach ⛱️
So cool! Thanks for tuning in and introducing yourself. If I’m ever in Australia maybe I’ll see you out there!
Well done!!! Boom sunshade 👌
Yesss
Perfect! Great job! Thanks Andrew
Thanks!
Big day for you, Congrats !
Couple questions:
How much was the crane ?
What was the concern per the 'rivets popping' on the spreaders?
Thank you! It was supposed to be $200 out and $200 in but he ended up charging me $400 back in because of crane damage or something. I didn’t negotiate because I wanted it to go well. As for the rivets, I was just afraid the spreader would be under too much load and pop off!
I guess there isn’t anything like an OSHA standards in the DR!! Boat looks great and is one more step to being back in the water!!
I've ridden "the ball" at work a few times like this some 40 years ago. Kinda fun but pretty un-nerving too. Last time one of our guys did there was a big fine and that ended that access method. Of course OSHA is a sanctioning entity in USA only. 3rd world countries gov. just dont have the $ to fund their own organization like that. Prob wouldnt be much oversight anyways since there is soo much corruption at all levels .
@@optimus163 I’m a manager at a boatyard here in Maine and just watching that on TH-cam gives me anxiety.
Damaged mousing, no electrical clearance, I had to stop watching.
Yea! It’s good and bad haha but it’s working..
@@SailingArthayou got it done and that’s all that matters!!
👍
😊
@@SailingArtha I'm on the hard in Astoria Oregon, motor is out half put together winter is coming, I just paid $9.99 for a pint of Ben and Jerry's because the grocery stores are 4 miles in both directions, but this is the only DIY yard that allows liveaboards on the west coast without going north.
😁👍🏼😁👍🏼😁👍🏼
😊
Awesome....what does all that cost???
The prices vary depending on the person’s mood and finances (I’m not kidding). I paid $200 to get the mast out and had agreed on $200 to put the mast back in. But, he charged me $400 for the mast put back in.
🇹🇷🇹🇷👍👍
😃
😀😀
😃
😅🎉
😃
Did you put a COIN under the mast ???
I completely forgot 😩
Does the mast not bolt to the mast step?
It currently does not. It slides over a series of metal walls/brackets which hold the mast on the step.
anyone else read the title as "my mast gets snapped!!!"
Oh no!! That would be so awful!
"boomkin"
Thanks
Aren’t you supposed to put a coin under it ?
I’m not sure I’m a land lubber
Yes, but I completely forgot
bravo !!! be successful
Oops! I accidentally downliked this in trying to comment. Thank you!!
hey from Prag !!!!
Hi there! Thanks for commenting!
This is insane! Youre only young once throw that boat away and get to sailing something not broken!
All boats break lol
