    Great thoughts prof. Nailed it again. Hoping there's future considerations in place but I wasn't upset to see a sharks legend return. Especially one that can help keep pucks out

    I wouldn’t be surprised to see the sharks trade one of bordeleau guschin or both for a decent roster winger. This Ty trade seems like the beginning of something not the end

      I'd hate to see it because I like both prospects but I can't see them both being on an nhl roster in the playoffs

    I doubt goodrow had San Jose sharks on his no trade clause

    I don’t love these moves but there’s definitely some potential. Grier tends to make pretty low risk moves so I would be shocked if there wasn’t some kind of arrangement made for Goodrow.
    I think the most likely scenario is the sharks taking Goodrow to get the rangers to retain salary on a player (probably trouba) to make them easier to potentially flip later since the sharks can’t retain on anymore players. I wouldn’t be surprised if goodrow had the sharks on his no trade list given his age and role in the NHL leading to getting maybe one more contract. However, from the rangers and sharks perspective you couldn’t pick a better player for that scenario so while it’s not ideal it’s necessary and allowed by the rules. That’s the kind of deal GM’s who are close with each other make and I would expect that from Grier and Drury

    I also don’t see Grier make this move if goodie didn’t want to be here

    Another great video professor. I think most Shark fans predicted a return of Goody to the tank this upcoming year.

    We need to spend to the floor. Goody is exactly the type of veteran we need. No ego. Hard work ethic. I don’t think we were on his no trade list. I think Mike just saw his man and took him

    Even if goodrow had the sharks on his no-trade list, I don’t think it means he doesn’t like San Jose. He likely just put every non-playoff team on that list at the time he signed his contract. So he probably just wants to remain on a contending team

    Hey Professor,
    And so it begins. The first salvo's by Mike Grier to try to take the next step and improve this team so that he does not lose his job to the barbarian band wagon fans who will surely be screaming for his head if the Sharks fail to improve significantly because Barbarian fans are not particularly paying attention to the details and have zero patience. The calls got pretty loud last year about him being fired but, I think he is doing what can be done reasonably in a difficult circumstance. Time will tell.

    The Goodrow move really has me scratching my head. There has to be something more to this. Cap space is seen as an asset these days, why take on 3 years of 3.6 million dollars if you're not getting some sort of asset for your trouble?

      Professor touched on it in the video, but word on the street is the Sharks were on Goodrow’s no trade list. There were likely no suitors for Goodrow except the Sharks, so Drury used this loophole to make it happen. If such is indeed the case, my guess is that we see a future transaction between these two teams where the Rangers pay extra to account for the Goodrow deal, thus making this waiver claim appear as “free” for the Rangers only temporarily. Grated, this is a lot of hypotheticals so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

    My guess for the Goodrow is he is just the first part of the Rangers also planning on trading Trouba to the Sharks. That would free up a total of 11m cap space for the Rangers to take a run at some of the top free agents this year. or to have extra cash for their goalie because he is going to need a new contract soon. Maybe the Sharks are currently on Troubas no trade list, but having Goodrow there makes it so he wants to play with his friend. But the Sharks could get Perault to free up that much space for the Rangers so they can pair with Will Smith. Or a lower prospect and this year's first.

      If this somehow ends up with Perrault on the Sharks, that would obviously be great. But atm, I can’t say the trade is good because of such a hypothetical.

      I’d 100% take in Trouba’s contract if we got Gabe Perrault with it

    I don't really see why people care that nuch aboht the goodrow deal. We have so much cap space. I guess I could see the term being a problem but once the contract is up is probably when we'll be needing to resign the big kids

    • @professorhockey
      @professorhockey  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      You’re right that the contract itself isn’t a huge deal, the Sharks should be able to handle it (though who knows in a couple years), it’s more that moving such a bad contract should have cost the Rangers something extra, yet Grier let them off the hook for free.

      @@professorhockey Yeah, I totally get that. I'm just glad we didnt have to give up something. Which would have been weird cause Goodrow is basically replacement level. I just find it hard to complain about something when we got him for free. Hopefully Chris Drury feels generous further down the road but it's kinda lame to hope for a gift later

    The ceiling for Dellandria is that he’s a classic late bloomer who starts to develop into a regular 3rd/4th line contributor. Goodrow can be a consistent 4th line guy and be a vet presence.
    Sharks are so far below the cap that they are more or less doing the Rangers a favor by picking up 💯 of his contract.

    I have a feeling Goodrow gets traded to a LTIR competitor at the deadline for a 6th maybe a 5th if he pops off this season

    • @scottduncan5244

      Sharks would have to give up a pick also for nothing considering this contract

    • @professorhockey
      @professorhockey  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      The Sharks can’t retain on his contract this year, so there is no way he gets moved this year. Perhaps maybe in the last year of his deal if the Sharks retain 50%, as long as he’s still doing ok.

    • @lessthangio

      What's to stop the sharks from trading him to a team with LTIR space at the deadline and him getting waived like this again next summer?

    I think Dellandrea is a solid pick UP, we need bottom six guys to help round out the line up plus with more playing time he could continue to improve some. Goodrow…. We’ll he helps us hit the cap floor….. BTW do you have a contact email sir? I have some fan art for you.
